Friday Follies...
End of yet another week, and while I'm not an advocate of imbibing in alcoholic substances THIS early in the morning, you might want to rethink that...because I know I have.
Yes, Virginia, these are definitely STRANGE TIMES we're living in.
So, feel free to "amend" your morning beverage of choice with whatever is available...you're going to NEED it.
** First off, and this isn't TOO out of place, but NASA has just crashed a probe into the moon's south pole in a bid to determine the existence of WATER on the lunar surface.
Ouch, that's gonna leave a mark...!
Now, I realize that sooner or later, we will wind up colonizing the moon...that's an inevitability.
Mankind has to pursue it's destiny, and I'm one of those that believe that our future is in the stars.
We were born to be explorers...seekers of knowledge, and this would be just another "baby-step" into the cosmos.
Thing is, we have to keep in mind that exploration of our local space must be a global venture, so it's in everyone's best interest to knock off with all the fighting among ourselves.
We can do a lot as one nation (like placing a man on the moon in less than a decade), but we can do a helluva lot more as the human race.
** Next, from the wonderful, wacky land that brought you fjords, we find out that our very own President, Barack Hussein Obama (mmm, mmm, mmm) has been awarded the 2009 NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.
W...T...F...?????
(So that's what you get for lobbying for and losing the Olympic bid...cool)
Nice "runner-up" prize.
I guess his GREAT AMERICAN APOLOGY TOUR did manage to pay the hell off.
Now, I find it weird that the balloting was closed as of February for the 2009 Nobel prize, which would mean that in ONLY LESS THAN TWO WEEKS (after taking office), our President (mmm. mmm. mmm) was SO charismatic (musta been a helluva 2 weeks) as to sway the voting board to achieve the coveted PEACE PRIZE...
Wow...imagine that.
Funny...I don't see any real PEACE on the streets of gang-infested cities (like Chicago) across America...do you?
And I don't see any real PEACE with Iran...(they are going to destroy the "heart of Israel" should WE intervene and attack Iran).
Nothing "peaceful" about THAT, is there?
And I certainly do NOT see any PEACE in Afghanistan...as our commanding general practically BEGS the President (mmm, mmm, mmm) to ACT on the request for more troops there. The report has ONLY sat on the desk of Obama (mmm, mmm, mmm) for over FORTY DAYS.
So...we're not seeing anything peaceful to speak of, right?
And yet, those voting in Oslo deemed it "right" to award this prestigious award to a sitting President that had ONLY 2 weeks in office.
"Yasureyoubetcha".
Sorry, folks...not quite seeing this materialize for me.
Hey, maybe ACORN had something to do with the "voting"????
Could there have been voter FRAUD perpetrated?
Did Oprah have anything to do with this?
And did she eat AS MANY cities as we were led to believe?
(I'm just sayin'...how's that "hope & change" workin' out for everyone?)
** A little closer to "home"...
Our very own Rev. Michael Latham, former president of the Fort Wayne NAACP, has founded a new organization called the NAAFD.
Here's the link to the back story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20091009/LOCAL/310099963/1002/LOCAL
Now you have to remember that Rev. Latham has a history in this city of supporting blacks for BLACK sake only.
His rhetoric is about perpetuating the victicratic mentality of his community.
And this story is another attempt of firing "one across the bow" of everyone else. This time it's an eastern Indian store owner.
Rev. Latham has more cards up his sleeve than a Mississippi riverboat gambler...
Trouble is, they're all RACE cards.
He's got good intentions, but the road to you-know-where is PAVED with those.
He keeps missing the mark when it comes to addressing the REAL PROBLEMS in the black community.
He'd much rather call anyone else out for picking on HIS people.
Sorry, but BAD BEHAVIOR is just that...BAD BEHAVIOR!
So what "if" some black youths were grabbed by their collars and removed from a store when causing a ruckus?
Well, Rev. Latham sees that as a clash of "cultures".
Oh, so it's OK to behave BADLY in public by black people BECAUSE it's in their CULTURE?
(told 'ya it was a "cultural thang")
Gimme a frigging break, will 'ya?
Get out the *E*-ticket books, kids...seems we're going to be riding the DOUBLE-STANDARD MERRY-GO-ROUND yet again!
"Don't pick on BLACK PEOPLE who act up in public....it's their CULTURE to do so."
Yeah, right...
"And don't ever SAY ANYTHING to black people when they misbehave or otherwise cause trouble at any time...it's just their CULTURE to do so. And everyone else can't fully appreciate the heritage behind the culture".
Yeeeaaahhh, rrrrrriiiiiiigggght.
Now, I don't know about Zimbabwe...or Somalia...or Botswana, but HERE...in AMERICA, we set certain "standards" for civil obedience since the inception OF this nation. We created laws to PROTECT the innocent, and PUNISH the guilty.
We have a UNIQUE culture, born from many other cultures, but it is STILL an AMERICAN culture.
And it was founded by GOD-FEARING people.
We have uniform conduct and behavioral standards that apply to EVERYONE, regardless of religion, country of origin, race, gender, or sexual preference...and it's time we hold EVERYONE to those standards.
Enough with this duplicity bullsh*t.
We've become way too "tolerant" of aberrant behavior as it is. Time for THAT to change.
We're too "politically correct", when we SHOULD be a lot more MORALLY CORRECT.
Time to mend the wheel, and get back ON the right road once again.
Hold EVERYONE to the same standards. Expect to be held ACCOUNTABLE for yourself. Bear the brunt of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, and stop blaming everyone else for YOUR problems, when you know damn well where the problem lies.
It's nice to work together, but it's pathetic to see reason tossed out with the bath water when it comes to true EQUALITY.
We may all have to answer to a much higher authority some day, but right here...right now, we should be concerned about answering to one another...and most definitely...to OURSELVES.
Something to think about...right?
Do have a great weekend, and remember...
Stay safe out there, America.

Crashing a rocket on the moon is kinds "lame", as they could have just sent a damn PROBE to the area (with a drill to look for water)...
'ya think?

Maybe it was just cheaper...and someone had "this old missle" just lying around, collecting dust...LOL.

sometimes i think the whole moon landing and this crashing a probe into the moon is all farce. yea, it sounded lame to me too. perhaps not to the normal kids that didnt collect rocks and read national geographic as a kid. but, it was sounding lame.

Have you been watching the movie CAPRICORN ONE again?
(staged "mission to mars" - good flick)

I believe in the moon landing...we WERE there.
In some respects, I guess I "have" to believe in it.
I mean, I'm not brainwashed (that I know of), but it sure makes sense to think that THIS NATION could do something that remarkable.
(several times over)
We take many things "on faith", because we were not "there".

But that's just my thought on it.
