Monday Musings...
It's been a relatively rainy weekend, so you all know what that means; it was pretty much QUIET around my neck of the ghettohood.
And it's times like that that it ALMOST seems bearable to live down here.
You don't feel a need to be on "high-alert" every moment from the time you get up until you retire to bed (like I am).
You readjust the neighborhood "threat-level meter" on your fridge from ORANGE back to YELLOW, if only for a day or so.
And you hurry up and enjoy whatever little respite you can snag along the way.
But, as is always the case, sooner or later (mostly sooner), the aboriginal locals rear their bellicose heads once again, and you invariably see things such as THIS occur anew:
*** (( Police responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Hamilton Avenue near Rudisill Boulevard.
After being grazed in the arm by one of two bullets, the 16-year-old victim is listed in fair condition.
Fort Wayne Police Department Spokesperson Raquel Foster said the suspect in the Hamilton Avenue shooting is described as a black male, last seen wearing a black shirt and jean shorts. Witnesses reported that the suspect fled the scene in a burgundy colored vehicle.
))
The incident remains under investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Department.
*** (( A second teenager was shot Saturday on the city’s south side.
Fort Wayne police responded to a call just after 4:30 p.m. to a home in the 1300 block of Greene Street, in the Eden Green apartment complex. They found a 17-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to serious.
))
Now, I'll not be the FIRST one to relate to you that the EDEN GREEN apartments are "low-income" housing, which means a greater number of blacks than any other ethnicity, AND it's the scene of almost CONSTANT police intervention. Luckily it's close by to the current police HQ along Creighton St.
You can put two and two together on this one.
In the second shooting, the teen was called by the suspect at a Marathon gas station at the location mentioned.
And it's also a case of black-on-black violence, as was the first incident.
But, it can always spill over into the other ethnic communities...that's the way these people roll these days.
They obviously don't give a rat's ass about their OWN people (except when it comes to "getting it on", or "partying down"), so why would we, the civilized among us expect these animals to care about ANYONE else, hmm?
But wait, it DOES get even better...
*** (( Brother jailed in deadly stabbing -Faces initial battery count; dispute was in Pettit home - (Caitlin Johnston The Journal Gazette)
A Fort Wayne man has been arrested in connection with his brother’s stabbing death Saturday night.
Jeffery Spence Jr., 28, died shortly after midnight Saturday of a stab wound to the chest, the Allen County Coroner’s Office said in a statement. The death was ruled the county’s 17th homicide this year. Spence was taken to a hospital in critical condition after police were called to a home at 241 E. Pettit Ave. about 11:20 p.m. Saturday on a report of a stabbing.
Based on the initial investigation, police believe that Spence was visiting a resident of that home. An argument between Spence and the resident turned physical and Spence was stabbed during the fight, police said.
The victim’s brother, Jeremy A. Spence, 27, was arrested and taken to the Allen County Jail on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery in connection with the stabbing, police said Sunday.
Police were first called to the house at 11:08 p.m. when a neighbor reported a disturbance. Jeremy Spence and a woman, who both live at the house, were arguing loudly, said neighbor Rick Papazian, 56.
"There seemed to be something going on between the two of them," Papazian said. He heard glass bottles break and decided to call the police.
According to daily activity logs, police left the scene at 11:17 p.m.
"I was about ready to call the cops again because there was a lot of commotion going on," Papazian said.
Shortly after that, he heard the female neighbor calling for help.
Police spokeswoman Raquel Foster said the police were called, and the woman flagged down a nearby police officer.
Neighbors said they called the police twice in the past several weeks for disturbances at the house.
Papazian said the neighbors had always been loud, but things seemed to get more out of control this summer.
"There’s nothing like this that ever happened around here before," said Papazian, who grew up on the block.
"It’s kind of disturbing."
))
Wow, it seems the neighbor (Rick Papazian) is in a situation similar to MINE...or Phil Marx's.
He SEES (and obviously hears) what's happening around him, and reports it.
Well, this IS all after the fact. We have our 17th homicide of the year (well on track to my "magic" number of 25) on our hands now.
At least the perp is in custody.
I AM hoping they change the charge AGAINST the brother from aggravated assault to MURDER...or at least reckless homicide.
Amazing how the neighbor stated this couple was LOUD...I would have never guessed that of THESE people.
(yeah, right...lol)
This is EXACTLY what happens in neighborhoods such as ours...day after loud-ass day.
And yet nothing seems to get done...it only becomes worse, as what few good people left in an area get fed up with the lack of action, and move the hell out.
Personally, I give kudos to Papazian for doing the RIGHT thing, unlike all the blacks around here that would appear to want to do the exact opposite...and with the usual results.
Now, if this rhetoric pisses off those who are "ethnically-sensitive"...tough frigging sh*t!
I certainly didn't create this societal debacle (which has been allowed to fester for GENERATIONS, like a sore of the backside of this nation), and you won't let me (or others like minded as I) attempt to end it legally, nor will ANY level of government see fit to assuage such behavior in any manner, so I say to those folks...sit down, and STFU!
THIS is what happens when people are GIVEN things in life, instead of working for them; when everything is handed to them on a silver platter (at the taxpayers' expense) such as money, housing, food...they don't know HOW to fully appreciate it. If anything, they only want MORE.
Now, I can't say if it's a damn genetic flaw, or chronically being "stuck on stupid", or even selective "Assholean" (Bob's Lexicon) behavior.
What I can say, is that if these people want to remain in a CIVILIZED society, they've got to start getting their collective sh*t in gear...and that means NOW...
Not in a week...or next month...or even a year.
It means NOW...immediately.
For if we are to see another "civil war" (and I pray I am always wrong as far as this goes), it will be this segment of the black population that will be the cause of it, make no mistake.
We see the evidence all around us...look at Chicago and the gang situation there. Another weekend with over FORTY people shot (in addition to that weekend in May with close to forty shot back THEN).
MY question is simple:
Where the (pardon my "French") f$ck ARE the "Black leaders" of this nation's cities, and why are they M.I.A.?
(Don'cha think some decent black people are getting pissed off at this somewhere, too?)
If they truly want to lead their people, as we so often hear, then WHY are they not leading them from the streets, instead of from a pulpit, or an after-school program?
Got nothing wrong with prayer, but even that can only go SO far.
You NEVER see local churches hitting the streets to tout their programs.
The ONLY people I meet are from ROANOKE Baptist or some JWs (getting a nice collection of free literature, I must say).
This not only makes a poor case for fighting the drug war on our streets, but also makes a poorer case for fighting the war for our future, and that means changing the hearts and minds of the children, growing up in all these busted-ass "family" situations, if you can even call them that today.
Black males are not held accountable, the females jump from boyfriend to boyfriend, looking for someone AS co-dependant as THEY are, and the kids get "left in the dust", to fend for themselves, to be recruited by gangs.
Doesn't sound all that civilized to ME...sounds more like some century-old African rebellion in the making...HERE, on OUR shores.
How I wish I had HALF the black people I've known and cared about as I was growing up...this would be a much different neighborhood.
For some reason, such folks as those are in too short a supply these days, and "that ain't good".
And it's certainly NO way for ANY society to move FORWARD, is it?
This is STILL America...NOT the Ivory Coast, NOT Liberia, and NOT Ghana, or Zimbabwe.
And it's high time we thought of this country a lot more AS America.
We've got another 4th of July celebration this weekend, and perhaps that's as good a time as any to renew a pledge to keep this nation as OUR nation, not someone else's, or a nation filled with skewed values from foreign lands.
Just something to consider this week...that's all.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay safe out there, America.

Rain does well to damper crime rates--well, except for domestic situations since everyone is annoyed with each other inside.

Dear Bob,
Oh, I am so sorry that things are heating up and getting ugly. I hope you got to enjoy that Sam Adams and rum n coke respectively this weekend.

Things do have to change--and it is so frustrating to change a dialogue--but I do hope this week settles in and that the Fourth is Grand for us all.

Say hello to Mr. Bunny for me, if he dares to come out, that is,

Ann T.

Yeah...some people you JUST cannot satisfy.
(Just don't tell those in SEATTLE - where they have 300 days of rain...and STILL have a lot of crime...lol)

BTW, Hope you had a great vacation.

And thanks a lot for coming on by today.

Yes indeed...we did enjoy them (and have more just waiting to BE enjoyed)

I know a few officers that call summer down here STUPID SEASON...and with good reason.

Rest assured that WE will retain the true spiirt and meaning of the 4th...!

And yes, Mr. Bunnyrabbit comes by daily to munch out. We'll say "hi" for 'ya.

Now, if I could ONLY keep these young squirrels off of the hummingbird feeders (more about that later this week)...ARGH!

That's the LAST thing I need...a bunch of already manic squirrels on a "sugar-high"...ROFL!

Hey, thanks so much for stopping by "our fence".

:)

i had wasps on my hummingbird feeders. they finally took down the wasp nest. it wasnt near my apartment and i couldnt figure out where all the wasps were coming from. i know they scared off the birds. hopefully we'll get some real hummingbirds back.
so this weekend in chicago there were 40 killings. thats alot of blood over the weekend. wth. i'll tell you something. i normally go up there once a year. there will be NO trips to chicago in my near future. that crime rate is way out of control. with 40 killings there is nowhere safe up there. or even relitivity safe.
that's why i threw in the towel and moved bob. i just couldnt take it anymore. it takes a strong will person like you and phil and mr papazian. (i love his name :) )i just dont want to be that anymore.

honestly, i really think this 4th of july will be sucking. i think i might check out a fest that is near my new "hood" lol hood. not.

We get wasps at our feeders...that's why I use a water squirt bottle!
(yeah, I DO like to live dangerously)

Seems Chicago wants to "lead the way" with murders this year.
THE THUG REPORT has a running total in the top left of their homepage screen.
NYC's not far behind.

Maybe this will change with the repeal of the handgun laws (more guns DOES mean less crime, when the guns are in the RIGHT hands for a change).

We've had assholes setting off fireworks every night for the past week and a half...can't nail down the location to send the police, though.
Rest assured ANY fireworks come over to OUR property, I'll be on the horn to the cops fast enough.

I like fireworks...when done by PROFESSIONSALS.
(these mooks are not)

ENjoy your local festivities this weekend, and thanks a lot for stopping by.
