It's A GOOD Friday...So Far...
Yes, friends, we're winding down on Holy week, which will culminate this Sunday in the celebration of Easter.
And this should be a time of year in which a person who believes in God should not only marvel at the gift of salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but also take stock in oneself...a time of evaluation, as it were.
Where have you been, where are you NOW, and where are you going in life should be considered, as well as asking yourself are you doing as much as you can to make the journey you're on as enlightening as possible, as educational as it needs to be, and as charitable as you are capable of allowing.

I also take it as a day that provides a looking glass into my soul...a way to be thankful for all that I have as well as how far I have come, while knowing that I (like everyone else) still have far to go.
Many of us truly "get it" when it comes to the REAL meaning of Good Friday and of Easter...others, not so much.
I can say it's fast becoming a GOOD Friday for local law-enforcement, as evidenced by the following stories. (shamefully ripped from the WANE website...gotta get the news somewhere)
And remember that stories like THESE are all pieces of the bigger puzzle down here.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police said a high-profile felony traffic stop led to one officer to pull his taser gun on a man in downtown Fort Wayne Thursday morning.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, a vice and narcotics officers pulled the car over at the intersection of Main and Harrison Streets.
Witnesses said two men were in the car, and at one point, four officers surrounded them.
Police say that was standard operating procedure for this type of traffic stop, but so far, they haven’t released any other details.
))
High profile, huh?
How much you wanna bet that THIS perp is connected with the ghettohood?
Nicely done, but wait...we're far from finished. In fact, we're just getting started.
(( 2 face drug charges after 6 week investigation

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A six week investigation came to a close with the arrest of two men on felony drug charges Wednesday night.
According to the Allen County Sheriff's Department, over the course of the six weeks, its Drug Task Force made several purchases of crack cocaine from both Earl and Ricky Armour at various locations in Fort Wayne.
Police arrested both men during a traffic stop Wednesday. They found a baggie of crack in Earl's pants and charged him with a Contempt of Court warrant, one count of possession of cocaine and two counts of dealing cocaine.
He was out on bond for a previous charge of felony possession of marijuana.
Ricky was also arrested and charged with two counts of dealing cocaine.
Both were taken to the Allen County Lock-Up.

Nice to know the "family business" WAS flourishing (past tense).
This name (Armour) pops up with such frequency here, it almost boggles the mind.
Now, before the NAACP comes by and says we're just picking on these "poor, unfortunate young men of color", let's see what they've BOTH been up to in recent years...just so we're all CLEAR on the REAL reasons BEHIND (and leading up to) their arrests, okay?

Well, he'll have plenty of time to "fill his hand" with OTHER things while in the hoosegow...won't he?

(( Female shooting victim in critical condition

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police are investigating another shooting, the second in two days. This shooting happened in the 5200 of Yorkshire Drive at about 7:30 Thursday night.
Investigators say a woman might have been hit several times and left the scene in a vehicle.
Minutes later, paramedics went to the 3800 block of Wayne Trace.
There, they found her and took her to the hospital in critical condition.
Police say they haven't made any arrests, but they have found a person who matches the shooter's description.
Wednesday night, another man was shot near the intersection of Hessen Cassel and McKinnie.
Police don't have a suspect in that case.

Update - 1000 hrs. - A Fort Wayne man was arrested for attempted murder Thursday night after police said he shot the mother of his child multiple times on Yorkshire Drive in Fort Wayne.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, Patrick Long, 23, shot his girlfriend, Radiance Upshaw, 22, during an argument when she came to pick up their child at his parents house around 7:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of Yorkshire Drive.
Police said Long’s father saw him shoot Upshaw and held him down until police arrived. After Upshaw was shot, she was able to drive to the 3800 Trace Way.
As of Friday morning, she was in critical, but stable condition. ))
Wow, TWO shootings in TWO days with TWO people in hospital, one in CRITICAL and one in SERIOUS condition...
And guess where THIS shooting took place?
Yep...(say it out loud and ALL TOGETHER, gang)...THE SOUTH EAST SIDE of Fort Wayne!
(thank you for your participation)
Here's Mr. Long's rap sheet:

And NOW, he's decided to "up the ante" to ATTEMPTED MURDER...how "ghetto" of him. THAT one's gonna leave a MARK, folks!
At this rate, we "could" clean out the cretins in say...7-8 months?
Thank God, they can't shoot straight worth a damn, otherwise they'd empty the neighborhoods a lot FASTER.
But, at least a lot of these minorities will be sporting nice, fresh GUNSHOT SCARS...oughta make it a lot EASIER to ID them in the future...don'cha think?
*** Lastly today, it IS GOOD FRIDAY, and that should mean a lot more than it does these days.
I remember that Mom NEVER served MEAT to us...and we were METHODIST.
She also maintained being "quiet" about the house from the hours of noon until 3PM (the time Christ was on the cross), so that meant as a child, I READ a lot during that time, but that was fine by me.
People like mom had this reverence and solemnity for today...not seeing all that much nowadays.
It's about SALES at most every store, or it's a day off for some (like the Missus), and for still others, it's "just another day" to do "whatever" (like playing rap music at 100+ decibels, and I KNOW for a fact that I WILL be hearing them today, as well as on Easter).
Somehow, the Crucifixion and 50Cent don't go all that well TOGETHER.
I really miss the days when people were going to church or otherwise behaving themselves...keeping themselves in check as it were.
Today, it's all about "me" in ways I could never envision when I was growing up.
I love freedom and liberty, but there HAS to be a certain level of SELF-GOVERNING - a level of SELF control.
Your rights as a human (given by God) are immutable and undeniable.
Everything ELSE is a privilege, and one should never claim ANY of those as a "right".
We practice self control, so that OTHERS won't have to take it upon themselves TO CONTROL US.
Seems simple enough, but as the stories above relate, such is not always the case.
God allowed his Son to be sacrificed for us...pretty heavy stuff.
None of us can expect to do likewise, nor are we urged to, but we are encouraged to be thoughtful of (and to) others.
And if that means we control OURSELVES, everyone makes out a bit better for it.
Talk about a "win-win", eh?
So, take some time today throughout Sunday and think on that.
The worst that can happen is that you'll become a better individual.
So imagine what the "best" thing could be...
My hope and wish is that all of you out there have a truly blessed weekend.
May you all be well, make a difference to someone, and as always...
Stay safe out there, America.

(( Today is also Earth Day, so fire up those CFLs, KOMRADE!))

well crap. it lost my message! It was mostly about liberty to NOT buckle up & wear helmets. "defining liberty" Ron Paul's new book - think you'd really like it. Would like to slap those people's parents good, as to why they would raise their kids that way.

Is it spring up there yet?

I looked around here and didn't find your original message...dang Internet!

I firmly believe we ALL have SO many freedoms (and many we indeed take for granted), but the MOST IMPORTANT ONE (I feel) is the FREEDOM TO NOT ACT LIKE A DUMBASS...lol.

There is freedom AND liberty, but yes, there IS ALSO BEING RESPONSIBLE and ACCOUNTABLE as well.

And finding that balance is what we all should be chasing after.

That book sounds like a "must have" for me.

And as far as SPRING goes?
The flowers say YES...the temperatures say "not quite yet"...But we're still HOPING...!

Hey, thanks so much for taking time from YOUR Good Friday to drop on by and comment.

Have a beautiful day, weekend AND Easter!

Amazing what SOME people can accomplish when they put their mind to it, right?

Thanks for rolling on up today.
Happy Easter back 'atcha!
