Believe It, Or Else...
Well, it's yet another cloudy, rainy, slightly foggy morning in Fort Wayne town, but that's still fine with me, although I will be needing to cut the lawn soon enough. And it will be getting cooler this weekend (hope the few tomatoes I have on the vines survive).
Been a crap year for tomatoes in our garden...definitely gonna get cherry tomatoes NEXT year. The larger varieties take too damn long to mature.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, it's time to reveal the answer to yesterday's quote of "WHO SAID THAT?"
" Patriotism is when love for your own people comes first; nationalism, when the hate for people other than your own comes first."
This was quoted by General Charles DeGaulle in LIFE magazine on 9 May 1969
(thanks for playing)
*** Elsewhere...more robberies on the (...all together, gang...) SOUTHEAST SIDE of Fort Wayne had a happy ending.
Here's the *4-1-1* on the story (which I also got to hear on the radio yesterday):
(( Police nab Fort Wayne robbery suspect

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police say they've tracked down the man behind two early morning robberies Wednesday. Authorities think he targeted a couple stores only a mile apart on the southeast side of Fort Wayne.
Police said Kelvin DeWayne Underwood, 43, went into the Dollar General on East Tillman Road around 9:07 a.m. Surveillance video shows the suspect covering his face with his sweatshirt and demanding money at the register.
Underwood allegedly pointed to his pocket, implying that he had a weapon. Authorities say Underwood got away with some money.
Police don’t think the Dollar General was Underwood’s only stop. Authorities said he robbed the CVS on South Anthony Boulevard around 8:58 a.m. The store is only a mile away from the Dollar General. That time Underwood got away with two bottles of vodka.
Surveillance video caught Underwood in several locations around the Dollar General and CVS. Police said that ultimately led to his arrest.
"You know what's interesting about the Dollar General investigation is that we were reviewing the video and he's casing the location," said Raquel Foster with the Fort Wayne Police Department. "He was seen in front of the establishment approaching the doors and he walked away. So maybe he was trying to wait for the right time to go in."
Later Wednesday, police found a truck that matched the one at the crime scene. Officers made the discovery in an apartment complex in the 7900 block of Decatur Road. In the front seat, they noticed a dark-colored knit hat that the suspect was reportedly wearing in surveillance footage.
Officers then saw Underwood behind one of the apartment buildings. He matched their description from surveillance. After a short pursuit, police caught him and arrested him.
Underwood has been charged with a count of theft and robbery.

Wow, it was just LAST THURSDAY when I posted about a string of robberies on the (where else?) SE side...now how much do you wanna bet that THAT man is the SAME guy caught yesterday?
Same M.O., and similar vehicle used.
That's pretty decent police work, if you ask me.
One down, and about TOO MANY MORE to go.
But hang on, this boy's got a REALLY long rap sheet going back to 1987.

((
WHEW...that was exhausting...!))
Now, can someone PLEASE tell me WHY, with all the (chronic) vehicular offenses and NO license for over a DECADE...is this guy STILL behind the wheel of ANY vehicle???
This guy isn't just slipping through the judicial cracks...he's got a damn CHASM going on!
(makes the Grand Canyon look like a crack in the sidewalk)
So now, he'll no doubt get yet ANOTHER "slap on the wrist", proving that the system is marvelously FLAWED, because this boy isn't getting the "hint" about crime...right? Not to mention, he's getting a bit OLD to be doing this...then again, he's known little else (at least for the last 20+ years).
Be nice to turn all that pent-up "energy" into something ...PRODUCTIVE in our society.
And then...there's THIS:
*** This rather humorous story comes from "San Fran"...in the land of fruits & nuts...LOL!
Here's the link to the source article:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2011/09/27/entertainment/e024325D05.DTL
Now most of you remember the "glam-bands" of the 70s and 80s, right?
Androgynous clothing, BIG hair, and all the rest.
Seems that hip-hop has caught up to those bygone eras (better late than never, hmm?) with a "new" fashion...wearing feminine attire.
(I know it's giving drag-queens & cross dressers some REAL nightmares...Poor RuPaul...lol)
Imagine L'il Wayne sporting a pair of ZEBRA stretch leggings (right below his blatantly-displayed BOXERS)... !
Oh wait, there he IS doing just that!
(dumbass!)
Boy STILL can't figure out WHERE his damn waist is, can he?
Sure, Freddy Mercury, Bowie, Jagger, Tyler, and scores of others from days past wore a lot of skin tight or questionable clothing, but you have to admit, it was a LOT more "tasteful" than what is being passed off today, right?
Cripes, Robert Plant wore pants so tight, you could practically see his junk (musta made hitting some notes a LOT easier, too).
Still, the MUSIC was REALLY GOOD...and has a level of longevity that will not be soon surpassed.
Can't quite say the same for Jay-Z., or P Diddy, or Snoop Dogg (wish these idiots would learn how to f$cking SPELL CORRECTLY).
And, if memory serves, doesn't a LOT of (c)rap music deal with treating women in a misogynistic manner?
So why wear female clothing if you're "dissing the dames"?
Is this another slam against womanhood by these artists?
(could be)
Personally, when it comes to REAL music, I like someone who can SING...and not mouth sing-song rhyming words over a 4-4 back beat.
I prefer to hear people who can PLAY instruments, rather than smack their lips into a damn microphone.
And I like to hear ORCHESTRAL and CHORAL pieces...music that fully demonstrates the ability of the human VOICE or ability to master an instrument.
A full tonal range, as opposed to window-rattling, bass-thumping "Infra sound" (which we'll speak about in an upcoming post).
*** When people settle for a monotonous amalgam of the "same old", that speaks volumes as to where society is heading...and that's too bad.
VARIETY used to be the SPICE OF LIFE...
Today? Not so much.
But while we're hearing more "rote" on the radio-music dials (except for classical, country, and oldies stations), we're actually seeing LESS rote in the classrooms (which used to be a cornerstone of education in years past).
Again, we see another sort of "double-standard" being perpetrated...with our children at the crux of it all.
Well, we could change it...if enough of us decided to.
Some people are attempting to do so, and I say good for them.
Time has come to get this nation squared away proper.
Life becomes too short too soon to be railroaded into something we don;t like...or need.
And life is much too short to be corraling us into little molds...producing cookie-cutter automatons that "go through the motions".
Each of us is UNIQUE, and it's damn time we all conceded that truth, and started to embrace it.
And it's our uniqueness that has fostered some of this nation's BEST minds, inventions, and rules of law.
That should give us all pause to think upon.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay safe out there, America.

Man, now that is quite a collection of crimes our friend has compiled. It is a shame that usually some has to be serious injured before the justice system reacts with strength.

Ha, I can barely rememeber what an orchestra sounds like...

I always thought it should be a "cumulative effect" when someone is constantly doing the same WRONG stuff...
I mean, you keep making the same mistake ON THE JOB...and you're gonna be part of the recently UNemployed.
(or WORSE in some cases)

Make those misemeanors ADD UP.

We don't need casualties and statistics to make the laws have teeth...just some COMMON SENSE.

This boy's about 40 miles of "bad road".
Another revolving door customer of the judicial system.

Our tax money hard(ly) at work there!

Thanks a lot for swinging on past today and commenting.

Roll safe out there.

So is changing to looser pants why Plant sounded different on In Through The Out Door?

LOL...I guess it must have been just that.

I know he sounded different when he did the solo tours (Now & Zen for example), but he was still great.

Thanks for commenting.
