A Rainy Thursday...At LAST...
Honest to God, I can't remember when last we had TWO (count 'em 2) consecutive days of nice rain...must have sometime back in the Spring.
Personally, I'd like to see some of this go down to drought-ridden Texas...Lord knows THEY can use it!
Anyway, there's a decent chunk of ground to cover today, so we're gonna be double-timing it most of the way.
*** First up, some more facts about the jury case yesterday that I was (thankfully) dismissed from...
Here's a story in today's paper that explains the "nuts & bolts" of the proceedings:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20110908/LOCAL03/309089967
It's a good read, and gives some back story to the case, which is supposed to finish today.
Now, as to the (rather lengthy) "rap sheet" on THIS particular stellar individual:

Whew, this boy's been BUSY, hasn't he?
And that's only from 2006 to now.
I don't think there's much he HASN'T done in the way of law-breaking, and if the LAST gig doesn't warrant tossing his sorry ass in the slammer for 20 years, I don't know WHAT does.
And "men" such as THIS piece of human refuse are EXACTLY the types I see around my ghettohood every single day.
I told the court yesterday that THOSE people never even make it to courts such as this...they fly under the radar for years.
Much just goes unreported when it comes to situations like this, because many times, the "baby-mama" doesn't even know WHAT to do, or HOW to do it. That's what the result is when people lack accountability...and moral values.
Mrs. Bobby G. & I were talking about this, and she came across with some marvelous observations.
(I gotta stop influencing her so much...lol)
She stated that these "men" drive around and play their (c)rap music SO damn loud, and THAT never seems to bother them, yet when a BABY CRIES, they get all pissed off because THAT DOES BOTHER THEM...
Yes, that can be considered a "WTF?" moment.
It's been proven that such long exposure to noise THAT loud does lead to aggressive behavior, along with other vital changes to our physiology and emotional state. I've talked about that (at length) for AGES here, and behavior such as this perp's bears out the facts found by medical professionals.
Interestingly enough, Mr. Holmes also has a MY SPACE page...
http://www.myspace.com/56125677
Looks like he's a "banger" of sorts...how nice.
This boy's about "30 miles of bad road", as we used to say...and I hope that JUSTICE prevails for the infant he found "annoying".
Be nice to have that child grow into a man that seeks out Holmes and beats HIM about the head...that's MY kind of justice.
(yeah, Old Testament stuff...it DID have it's place)
Moving on...
*** Had a standoff last night, and got to hear the end of it as the FWPD were taking people into custody (another happy ending).
Here's the link to the story which happened on the (...all together, gang...) SOUTHEAST SIDE of town (thank you):
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20110908/LOCAL07/110909603
The FWPD rolled out the crisis negotiation vehicle, as well as the EST's V-100 armored car.
(I'd love to take a drive in THAT bugger someday)
But wait, there's more...
*** Imagine driving home from being dismissed from jury duty and seeing ALL the entrances to Southgate Plaza blocked by FWPD cruisers...
Well, they had a reason.
There was a fire at RC's apparel, and here's the story link (with video from WPTA):
http://www.indianasnewscenter.com/news/local/Southgate-Plaza-Business-Catches-Fire-Multiple-Stores-Damaged-129380823.html
I find it odd that building and fire code would NOT have either been added OR upgraded for this strip mall after all these years.
The FWFD captain on scene said that NO sprinkler systems were installed, and with such a building sharing a COMMON roof area (above the ceilings), it's amazing that MORE stores were not affected.
This is much like a block of row homes in Philly...the kind that ALL burn down when just ONE catches fire.
That common roof area is where the fire spreads faster than soft butter on a warm bagel.
And it will fast become another BLIGHT to a once nice area to shop when they bulldoze part of the structure...
*** Lastly today, remember the story about the ACSD's new shooting range down on the lower SE side and how nearby residents found a BULLET HOLE in the windshield of their vehicle?
Well, that's being addressed (not that the sheriff's department really HAD to).
Here's the link to this story (WANE):
http://www.wane.com/dpp/news/local/safety-improvements-made-to-shooting-range?ref=scroller&categoryId=20000&status=true
The chopped up rubber (old tires) is a great idea. They have something similar in the indoor range at the Public Safety Academy.
The sheriff's department was said to have also found shell casings at the location directly adjacent to the shooting range, and that makes me wonder...
At ANY outdoor range (esp. those used by law-enforcement), you could always hear the range master admonish (loudly):
POLICE YOUR BRASS...!!!
In other words, clean the hell up after yourself...simple huh?
So WHY would spent casings be found ANYWHERE ELSE but at or on the range itself?
Unless, it was NOT the sheriff's department at fault at the trailer park...which is what I surmise.
Also, you were directed to either LOAD or UNLOAD your weapon in SPECIFIED areas ONLY.
I don't believe that has changed, but maybe you LEOs out there do otherwise in YOUR departments?
Personally, I'm chompin' at the bit to get out there and run some rounds downrange (eventually).
I believe that whatever we find that:
a) harms no one else
b) releases pent up aggression in a constructive manner
c) is damn cool
...is a great way to have some good, honest fun, as long as every safety protocol is learned and remembered.
Life gives us these things to enjoy, and never to abuse.
Doesn't matter whether it's our children, our homes, our vehicles, our firearms, our gardens, or even our pots & pans (because some have a talent for cooking)...we have to...we need to find what produces that level of contentment that keeps us centered on living life itself.
To do less makes us less along the way.
We don't want to go there.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay safe out there, America.

I was browsing online, and came across this article by James Bovard (last line and tagline missing only) http://www.luxlibertas.com/raising-hell-in-subsidized-housing/ and I thought you'd like to see it - esp. being you're stuck amid the lovely HUD housing people.

I'd like to run by a shooting range up in Houston & take my .380 there & get some practice in. Either that or put up a nice berm here in the backyard & have a ball with cans and melons. Speaking of which, what do you think this >> http://www.keltecweapons.com/news/preview-kel-tec-shotgun-ksg would do to a nice cantaloupe? An 18.5" barrel.

That is a VERY good blog (post), and I can say that with all these housing VOUCHERS given out like after-dinner mints to so many of the unworthy, we ARE, in fact seeing more "dubious" people getting into NICE neighbrhoods...and TRASHING THEM.

All the burbs around Chicago have them, as do all the burbs of Detroit...
It's like a spreading DISEASE.
A good excision would work wonders.

And that Kel-Tec KSG 12 Ga:
Saw that a few months back in one gun magazine I get, and I REALLY like the look of it.
Hear Buds guns has it for $628 (ouch)
Would seem to allow for better repeat shot TARGET-ACQUISITION.
The pump action is held TIGHTER IN to the torso.
Good bullpup design, and with a 14 round cap...not bad at all.
Might even help w/recoil, too.
Very good design.

Nice and compact...

OH,YEAH...I WANT ONE!
(next life...and Wifey can have the NEF Pardner pump...LOL)

Thanks so much for taking some time to drop on by today and comment.
Much appreciated.

Stay safe (and fire-free) down there.

Guilty. See how easy that was. and I did not have to leave the comfort of my home.. what a poor excuse for a human being. I have a friend in Texas who is in the fire area, I have not heard from her in a couple days I am thinking she has had to evacuate. Wish I could share this rain with them. Stay safe Bobby G.

When I find out the verdict, I'll be passing it along.
I mean how many 2nd chances did this jerk have ALREADY?

People like this never seem to learn from mistakes...so maybe they don't DESERVE the same rights and privileges others enjoy.

The fires down there might have just disrupted cell phone operation, and she most likely had to evac.
Sometimes, being able to have a LANDLINE does have an advantage.

AT least you didn;t suffer a power outage like they did on the west coast.

We'll try and keep "out of trouble" here.
Thanks for stopping on by today and commenting.

You stay safe down there.
