Tales From The SOUTH Side...
Yes, friends...time again for those marvelous things that only happen south of downtown; things you probably won't see elsewhere (and hopefully never get to see...or hear).
But, before we get into that, the weather today is starting out wonderfully with temps in the mid 50s...now that's the kind of morning that belongs early in the day...LOL.
Later today, we'll be back into the upper 80s and into the 90s again, and it's only going to get hotter as the week rolls on, with Thursday being touted as a "century" mark high...triple digits, so if you're planning any outdoor activity that day...might wanna think about moving it all inside if possible.
Meanwhile...back at the "Fortress"...
*** Yesterday was good...dinner and the cake turned out brilliantly, and had a certain "Sunday meal" feeling to it...on a MONDAY, no less.
As for presents...well, they're on their way here...(overseas shipping take a tad longer than domestic).
Like my Dad used to say:
"Better to OWE it to you than cheat you out of it."
I'm good with that.
And since Monday's paper NEVER seems to have the celebrity birthdays, I decided to toss some in here for Wifey.

Moving along...
*** An update to the police action shooting on S. Hanna St.
Here's the "4-1-1":
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20120626/LOCAL07/306269975
Funny thing, in YESTERDAY'S article Chief York STATED that the shooting WAS JUSTIFIED...while today the article says it "APPEARS" justified...
Either it IS...or it isn't...which is it?
(I'd run with the WAS justified, but I'm a bit biased when it comes to such things as LAW...and ORDER)
Micquail Thomas (another Thomas involved in bad sh*t?) is the victim, and since he's 18 years old, any previous run-ins with the police would be under the "Juvey" files, which are not released to the public. After 18, it's open season for public docs.
Officer Tony Shefferly has been a *B* shift officer for over a year, and is a 7-year veteran of the department.
While he has not received any commendations, he did receive a reprimand and suspension for police vehicular accidents in 2011.
- seems I remember hearing that...hey, accidents happen, especially on streets where over HALF the people don't carry car insurance and are usually INTOXICATED well before 0900 hrs...that would be the...(...altogether, gang...)...SOUTHEAST side of town.
(thank you for your participation)
And WHERE the hell do these people come up with the names for their kids, anyway?
Micquail?
Are you frigging SERIOUS?
Can't spell MICHAEL?
Proof positive that NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND is doing something with education...just nothing POSITIVE...!
*** Finally, we have an answer...sorta, kinda....perhaps.
The coroner has FINALLY made a determination about the JOSHUA FRISBY death (that I've been ragging on since it happened a month ago).
And here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20120626/LOCAL07/306269927
Yet, the cause of death was....a MYSTERY!
Okay, now THIS is a "WTF???" moment.
I can't even recall the last time I EVER heard of something like this, especially with a warm DB still in the house.
I can understand if someone is found YEARS later in some woods, totally decomped, or fell into a grinding machine, but come ON, now.
The man was found with a GUNSHOT (or gunshots) wound to the chest.
(later said to be to the HEAD instead - at point blank range)
Now, I can't reckon that it was a SUICIDE...can you?
(unless the gun somehow magically vanished)
-- I came across THIS story from last month (WFFT website) with a video of his parents...you tell ME if this wasn't a homicide:
http://fortwaynehomepage.net/fulltext/?nxd_id=61822
Granted that our coroner HAS been busy of late, but the whole "not enough evidence" to support suicide, homicide OR natural causes (yeah, like that LAST one will work with the relatives of the deceased) really makes you wonder.
What IS the cause of death...?
I'd run with the GUNSHOT gig myself, and since there was NO gun found, logic DICTATES that the gun arrived from an EXTERNAL source, rather than in-house.
I mean Sherlock Holmes could figure this one out no problem, right?
"When you have Eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, no matter HOW improbable, must be the truth."
THAT is what Holmes would say. (as he did in The Sign of Four)
Meanwhile, back at 221B Baker Street...

Nothing like "travel" to broaden the mind (and your drug base), right?
*** Lastly today, we're never at a loss down here in the crotch of Ft. Wayne for the dubiious, the dumbfounded, and the dimwitted.
(excluding those at the Fortress...and a very few others)
And while such other people make for a more "diverse" community, they are actually at the heart of why we really don't even HAVE a community to speak of, unless you refer to the sub-cultural aspects of a microcosmic ciommunity within itself, that runs by it's own rules and practices it's own forms of justice.
If you look back in the archives here to the FIRST posts, you will see the differences that I mentioned which make this part of town the area that so richly deserves the reputation it has created for itself...BY itself.
And, as with any such venue, the blame can fall on many, beginning with the city leaders.
The so-called community leaders can share some of this, as can the people themselves who refuse to follow anything resembling normal, when it comes to a proclivity for proper societal behavior and moral values.
Such "residents" down here have none...to speak of.
Things can change, but it take more than talk...or education, because these people refuse to learn what they NEED to in order to become productive, rather than destructive.
Yes, things can change, and in many cases, they NEED to change for the better...and soon.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Wow, gunshot wound to the chest? No gun found at the scene? And the coroner doesn't think he has enough to call it a homicide? I think you should take up a collection and buy your coroner what he really needs... a clue.

John D.:
I could not agree with you MORE.
Even Wifey is going "huh???"

I'm also wondering HOW MUCH it would cost to bring in someone like Marg Helgenberg, David McCallum, or Gary Sinise?

Maybe "they" could figure out in their character roles what the REAL DEAL apparently cannot!

It has the novelty of never having been attempted...AND would serve to give the family of the victim SOME sort of closure.

Hey, thanks for swinging on by today and commenting.

You roll safe out there.
