Tales From The SOUTH Side...

A nicely "soft" Tuesday greets us in the Heartland and the temps will ONLY get into the mid-60s today...fall might be in the air...finally.
The rest if the week looks to be seasonably cooler and some of the overnight temps will dip into the upper 30s (save the tomato plants).
We're going to concentrate on only TWO stories today, the first one being from Angola, and the second, from right around my corner...sort of.

So, let's get rolling.

*** Now I know that most of you would find it a bit of an imposition whenever a car comes crashing through your wall, and that's understandable.

But what transpired up in Angola should have more than a few people shaking their heads.

You don't have to watch the video...just read the story and then pick out the oddities in the story.
The one that REALLY jumped out wasn't the fact that this crash occurred around 0330 hrs, but the fact that this couple was "GETTING READY TO MAKE CHICKEN WINGS"...!?!
((...WTF???...))

I can think of several things I'd much rather do at 3:30AM...like SLEEP...or call the FWPD to chase some traveling party goers from my LAWN...but making chicken wings is NOT on ANY list I have...how about you?
Ever get that "urge" to have some wings LONG after everyone else has gone to bed?
And the duffus that crashed into the apartment building just HAPPENS to be the boyfriend's COUSIN (who they were drinking with earlier)...funny, after serious drinking, doesn't SLEEP come a tad easier (and sometimes puking)?

Daniel Damron was the idiot in question, and he refused a BAC test...so, he was arrested.
 (must have been an OPEN FLAME nearby).
Yeah, I think this qualifies for that "Special kind of Stupid"...don't you?

*** A three hour standoff with police nets one for felony D criminal trespassing.

Okay, so this takes place about 2 blocks over from where "The Fortress" stands, and what I noticed was that the police radio was suddenly devoid of chatter, due mainly to a switch to a tactical channel for the Emergency Response Team.

I also noticed a rather abrupt INCREASE in traffic along OUR street, which told me some street nearby was blocked off.

One officer was stationed down the street to redirect traffic around the area cordoned off.

The house at 507 E. Pettit was the one where a man had gotten inside looking for his belongings (he had been recently evicted and another family was moved in). Yeah, they "flip" renters here like pancakes at Denny's...that's part of the reason NO house has any real value these days...no procedures, no inspections, and no accountability...that leads to decreased home value...it's that simple.

Michael Edmonson, age 33 was responsible for the intrusion to the house where two teenagers were...if they were under 18, they SHOULD have been in school, but in this area, no one checks any damn thing until after the fact, like TRUANCIES.

Now all this, in and of itself is fairly typical, although most times ERT isn't rolled on scene...you hear several such incidents DAILY on the radio.

But what is really interesting, is that the person interviewed by WANE (named "Mack") has a marvelous "back story".
His real name is Matthew Fuller, (other white neighbors that USED to live here used to nickname him "PIG"..wonder why? LOL) and he lives at the other end of my block (4847 S. Monroe), and in ALL the years Wifey and I lived here, he has NOT worked...one... single...day...(And he is farther from disabled than East is from West), and yet manages to get by very nicely (his wife works).
And, as is typical of damn near everyone in this area NOW (but NOT within the confines of OUR walls) he has a RAP SHEET:

When you look up the term WHITE TRASH...you'll probably find his PICTURE.
And with all the DUIs (including felony w/ serious injury) he STILL gets around.
When not by car (not suspended for life by now?) then by GOLF CART, or a FORKLIFT...or a FRONT-LOADER...or even a BICYCLE or MOPED (or two).

Nothing keeps this neighborhood busy-body busier than everyone else's business.
He's also pals with local scrappers and is friends with landlords that put a lot of the wrong people into houses around here...like the ones that did the FENCE TAKE DOWN the other night...yeah, Fuller KNOWS these people.
So, WANE was interviewing a known FELON...that had nothing better to do but BUTT THE HELL IN with something he shouldn't be concerned with.
When Jim Didier was shot and killed all those years ago, this same mook was interviewed by the local stations THEN...and yet, he really didn't see anything and could give no witness to what happened.
Hell, I didn't even mosey on down to the scene yesterday, because the LAST thing that ANY scenario requiring a SWAT response needs...is another "Lookie-Loo", right?
Not to mention that Matt (aka "Mack") lives more than TWO BLOCKS AWAY also.
Makes me wonder where he stole...I mean "bought" that camera.
Lord knows he manages to commit UNLAWFUL ENTRY all by himself...JUST like Michael Edmonson...I know, because I CAUGHT him doing it (at a former neighbor's vacant house), and we even went to court (where he plead down and we never got to testify...damn)

Yes friends, THESE are the type of things you will NEVER hear or read about in the media, because even THEY don't have the slightest idea as to what REALLY goes on down here (just like the CITY).
I know this turd doesn't like me, but I don't really give damn. He shows up on my property, they'll be carrying HIM away...feet first.
I've no love lost on repeat FELONS, especially when they're in cahoots with damn near everything dubious in the area, and friends with all the wrong people.
I still maintain that he (or some friend of his) was responsible for tossing that chunk of cinder block through our window a few years back, because we called in an ILLEGAL BONFIRE (about 8 feet high and too close to a house) 2 days prior, and he was involved with that crew.

I suppose that every neighborhood has it's "Village Idiot", and we are certainly NO exception to that rule.
Just wish he was put away like a couple years ago...the area was a lot quieter for those 14 months...LOL.
So you can see how just ONE person can help to bring down a neighborhood.

But, I still believe that one person can also help bring that same neighborhood BACK from the abyss.
The only difference is that Matt Fuller has a LOT of "allies", be they white, black or Hispanic (most of which have criminal histories of their own...that's how he gets to know them...from being IN JAIL)...and I only have me, myself and I (so, that makes THREE, right?) and whatever laws I can use (few as they are).
But right is right, and the GOOD GUY should be the one that wins...not the bad guy.
There is always tomorrow...however comforting that is these days, and hope is one of the few items that I carry around with me all the time.
Some might think this a waste of time...I see it as protecting our investment...by WHATEVER MEANS NECESSARY.
Sooner or later they all slip up...and hopefully, I'll be there to witness that.
