Not What You Expect...
I do apologize for the tardiness of today's blog, but we had a bit of a situation earlier.
I'll get into detail about that in a bit, but let's see what the weather's like.
Today will be mostly sunny with highs near 90 again...and the humidity will again be up there.
*** First up, the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote.
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
Told you it would be easy, and in lieu of yesterday, this quote is attributed to  Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.
And here is his WIKI:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King,_Jr.
I could think of no better person to have a quote from, considering yesterday's date.
In the meantime, with brevity as our co=-pilot this mornings, lets get into the daily tribute to this month
It's time for:
Bobby G's This Day In AUGUST History!
August 29 -
1786 - Shay's Rebellion - An armed uprising of Massachusetts farmers, begins in response to high debt and tax burdens.
1831 - Michael Faraday discovers electromagnetic induction. (shocking stuff)
1833 - The British Empire legislates the abolition of slavery.
1885 - Gottlieb Daimler invents the FIRST internal combustion motorcycle, the "Reitwagen".
1896 - The Goodyear tire company is founded
1922 - The FIRST radio advertisement is broadcast on WEAF-AM in NYC.
1949 - The Soviet Union tests it's FIRST atomic bomb.
1958 - The U.S.A.F. Academy opens in Colorado Springs, CO.
2005 - Hurricane Katrina devastates much of the U.S. Gulf Coast, killing more than 1,836, and causingover $80 BILLION in camages.
Notable birthdays:
1936 - John McCain - American politician
1938 - Elliot Gould - Ameican actor
1958 - Michael Jackson - The gloved one - (d-2009)
There's a bunch more, but THESE are the ones that jump out at 'ya.
And there's all the trivia you need to get you by for today.
Moving on...
*** SO I wake up this morning, make my coffee and wind up getting progressively more nauseated...don;t know why, either. Got to feeling REALLY flushed and sweating to beat the band (and I don;t go around beating bands these days)
I laid back on the kitchen floor, because the tile was cool, and Wifey got a bit worried as she heard me hit the floor.
So, she gets on the horn to EMS, and they roll out to the "Fortress"...THREE of them come into the house.
I said "God, I got the whole crew here"...lol.
Well, they proceeded to check the ticker...working fine, took my BP...excellent, and did my blood sugar...also well within normal rates.
And after a few other questions about by general health (on any Meds? Who's your family doc? History of health problems? and so on) I get wired for "sound" to a heart monitor screen...again, everything checks out fine. I said this sure beats being called out on all those drug ODs...
Two of the EMS guys (one was a lady) were loving our living room, as I have a tastefully amended area with action figures of various sizes...
We then got to talking COMIC BOOKS...LOL. Here I am feeling like a fool for Wifey chasing them out here and we wind up talking comic book characters and special issues (one of the EMS techs has an IRON MAN #1 ...very cool).
I don't blame Wifey at all.
Hell, I wanted her to go into school today, rather than stay here with me..
God bless her heart, she was worried, and I didn't know WHY I felt as bad as I did, or why it came on me SO damn fast...
I guess it will be another of those mysteries. I"d like to think this old Dutchman's got a few good years left in him.
And that as my "bogus journey" for the week. I think it was stress-related...or perhaps a bout of flu...I can't really say.
*** Lastly today (I said it would a brief post, didn't I?). we'll be continuing the SAGA OF BEOROOF another day, and we'll have my take on the 50th anniversary on the King speech...for now, I just need to rest up, build my strength and get back to doing what I usually do...
And that's being a burr under the saddle of the leftists, and speaking plain and true for all of you.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Glad to hear you're okay, Bob. One of my coworkers hasn't been feeling well, it hit him yesterday, out of the blue. Makes me wonder if some sort of bug is going around.

Thanks for the well wishes...
The both of us here are glad as well.
There HAS to be something going around...can';t explain it away otherwise.
It was SO damn sudden, but WIfey knew I was okay when I got up off the floor.
I told her "When I DON'T get up...THEN you can worry"...LOL!

Thanks for stopping by today and commenting.

Stay safe out there.

BTW, I hope your insurance covers EMS calls. I got a ride to the hospital in an ambulance a few years ago, and it cost $600. The ride was just over a mile. Fortunately, my insurance paid for it. Eventually.

That was MY concern over this...HOW MUCH?

When the bill comes (as it most surely WILL) we can shove it over to WIfey's insurance provider (I'm covered under her) and we shall see.
Thanks for the reminder!

When it comes to the INTERNET...there is ALWAYS some VIRUS going around.

Didn't know they could "jump species" as it were, though...LOL.

Be easier to be able to hit "FIX" rather than trust the medical industry.
($25 for a TYLENOL?)

Hey, thanks for dropping on by today and commenting.

You stay safe (and virus-free) up there.
