Humpday Happenings...
Welcome to another middle of the week.
Amazing how "warm" it's starting out this morning...a whopping 26 degrees!
The rest of our Hoosierland weather will find us with temps climbing ALL the way up to 35 (that's right, ABOVE freezing)
But, we're going to also see some snow showers (with no real accumulation) and partly cloudy skies most all day.
Color us GRAY for a good part of the day.
Now, with that said, let's get our nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa and set about seeing what else is going on...
*** First out of the egg crate today is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is."
In lieu of the NBC news dust-up, I felt this was something a certain news anchor might consider taking to heart. So, WHO said that anyway?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in the House of Parliament.....
*** And it's also time for our 'What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
February 11 -
---Today is DON'T CRY OVER SPILLED MILK DAY...
Funny, I never did that.
I mostly cussed over my clumsiness, and back in the day when milk bottles were made of GLASS, that could be a real mess.
---It's also MAKE A FRIEND DAY,
And for ME, that means another SQUIRREL to add to the "cadre"...lol.
NO waiting, nice ambiance - I give it FOUR peanuts!
After all, the only way I'd make friends with ANY of the "locals" around here would be if I happened to share a jail cell at the lockup...heh.
---And, it's WHITE T-SHIRT DAY
I'm guessing that graphics are not included?
Just a plain white t-shirt...not sleeveless, not long-sleeved, and not a v-neck?
Still, WHITE t-shirts ARE nice
I prefer black t-shirts...(until they manage to come up with a DARKER color).
*** Next up, is the weekly round (no pun intended there) of SHOTS FIRED calls around the city (that they never tell you about)

Nice to see some people can't stop being idiots...that's okay, makes the rest iof us look THAT much better.
*** Next, Another great column written by local NRA firearms instructor, Bob Aldridge.
Here's the link to the article:
http://www.journalgazette.net/opinion/columns/Gun-death-claims-can-t-be-supported-4890556
It's a good read and a response to a previous letter to the editor.
Aldridge provides facts (FBI stats) that say more people die from POISONING per year than by firearm misuse.
I always figured that was like a Darwin thing...if you screw around with a firearm, and shoot yourself while "cleaning it" (for example) that's God's way of saying you were a dumbass.
Always good to see people with a FIRM grasp of the TRUE meaning regarding the 2nd Amendment.
Guess it still pays to learn to READ...and then to comprehend WHAT you've been reading, right?
Yep...knowledge and wisdom...two of life's BEST friends.
*** Next, today at noon, our "king" (read mayor) will be giving his "State of the Kingdom" address downtown (like he was going to do it anywhere close to the SOUTH side...lol).
I might even watch it, just so I can shout (some more) at the TV.
(guess I don't do that enough between what passes for our president and other politicians)
Rest assured I will be giving it a "review" soon enough.
Hopefully, his highness won't be busting stones against CHRISTIANS...the way our "potentate-in-chief" does at prayer breakfasts.
Can't wait to hear all he has planned for down here...(that should consist of a sentence or two at most).
But, you can make book that we WILL have a nice downtown (and soon to be riverfront).
Moving on...
*** Last back to City Hall...I recall a time a while back (couple decades) when I first listened to Rush Limbaugh, and he said something on his show that this stuck with me ever since..
It was one of his commercials for some language tutorial, and the his tagline was: WORDS HAVE MEANING.
Funny, I didn't pick that one up in those 12 years of school...just took it for granted, but when Rush said it, it finally got through my think skull and opened up a whole new world...one where truth carried a lot more weight than I had previously given it.
So, when I hear what our president says, whether HE knows it or not, HIS words have meaning.
What we can also add to this is the INTENT for which the words are being used...what is he "trying" to say.
(and why can't he even say some things?)
I equate words to rounds in a firearm - once they leave the barrel (your mouth), you can't just call 'em back.
So, it behooves all of us to take that into account.
We should always strive to say what we MEAN...and mean what we SAY.
That is referred to as...THE TRUTH.
It's pretty easy to come by as long as you're willing to look for it in others, as well as yourself.
The Bible says as much when it states that we should let out "yay" be yay, and our "nay" be nay.
Besides, Mark Twain had a quaint way of putting such things when it came to speaking the truth.
And I love the saying that talks to truth being painful.
But these days, we're bombarded with SO much information ALL the time, discerning the wheat from the chaff can get one very busy.
Yet, with practice (like most anything else in life), it does become LESS difficult.
Words do indeed MEAN something...they carry weight...they convey ideas, thoughts, and do contain substance.
It's when people corrupt our language, change the meaning of words, or seek to even ban words from our lexicon that we encounter problems.
I suppose once society decides to ban enough words, the next step would be to burn a few books?
(and we all know from history how well THAT went over)
To always seek the truth should be a cornerstone of all our lives, because if we are to remain a  free society, we must secure and strive for that which makes us free...and that's the truth.
Therein lies the lesson for today.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

1- Whoever said it, never met a liberal.

2- Well, I haven't made a friend, but at least I haven't pissed off anyone I hadn't previously offended.

3- Wonder why I don't look that good in white T's?

4- I'm being nice to Obama today since Valerie seems to have grown a spine in ISIS and Ukraine...

Chris:
--I thought YOU would know who it was...and I'd wager he met his share of libtards...and dealt with them accordingly.
--I kinda feel the same way...no new friends but no new enemies, either.
(I have to work harder at the latter one...heh)
--I think it's the FABRIC SOFTENER that really makes the grade...lol.
--I've learned to never take anything any of them say at face value.
Keep watching BOTH hands on those people.

Thanks for stopping over today and commenting.
Much appreciated.

Stay safe and warm up there.
