Thoughts For Thursday...
Welcome to the "almost Friday" part of our rolling week.
And, if you liked the temps yesterday, we're in for more of the same...only WITHOUT any rain.
Hoosierland will get a bit of a reprieve along those lines, with a sunshine-filled day, some mild breezes, and an overall sense that maybe...just maybe this old world isn't ready to check out and call it done.
So, sit back, get your favorite drink poured and parked nearby, and together we shall see what has been going on...
*** First out of the garden is the answer to our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"To me, it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Muhammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly as he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing."
This was spoken by none other than General George S. Patton, Jr.
And for those wanting to refrresh their memories, here's his WIKI:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_S._Patton
Also, here is the official website for one of our (if not the) best military commanders:
http://www.generalpatton.com/
This site gives a great bio, and has his prayer, his most notable quotes, and some good photos.
There is also a website that focuses on other NON-Muslims who had something to say about Islam.
And here is that WIKI:
http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Quotations_on_Islam_from_Notable_Non-Muslims
Not AS "popular" as we're being led to believe.
*** Next up, is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
May 28 -
---Today is AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL DAY
Here's their website:
https://www.amnesty.org/en/
I'm all for HUMAN rights...but when inhumanity rears it's ugly head and commits atrocities for whatever reason, I can't say that the perpetrators deserve the SAME "rights" of their victims...that's just my opinion. Some people need not exist in a sane world.
---Cripes, almost forgot...today is also NATIONAL HAMBURGER DAY.
Eat 'em if 'ya got 'em...!
I have my favorites...but they vary according to how I "feel" at the time.
Some days are McDs...other times, BK, or Penguin Point or Wendy's.
And I SO miss H.A. Winston's in Philly.
Also, the old Gino's from the 60s
Best 28 cent burgers around...
Here's a WIKI from this business:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gino%27s_Hamburgers
And who from the east coast recalls White Tower hamburgers (located under the Frankford Elevated trains)?
I make a damn good burger, too...ask Wifey.
To each his/her own...no ONE burger has it all for everyone. Remember that.
Moving on...
*** Next up, Ford Motor Company is recalling over 430K vehicles for an electronic problem with the power steering, which has already caused a few crashes.
Oops...here we go AGAIN.
Here's the story link:
http://blog.caranddriver.com/ford-recalls-423000-cars-for-potential-power-steering-failure-19500-ecoboost-mustangs-also-recalled/
Now, to me, having driven since 1975, this SHOULD be a non-issue.
The power steering system should NOT be governed by electronics...another potentially fatal flaw in automotive engineering (these days).
Too much tech = too many recalls.
The PWR STR system should be HYDRAULIC in nature. None of this "fly-by-wire" BS.
Leave that to multi-million dollar jet aircraft, got it?
On the up side, at least we're not hearing about shrapnel-spewing airbags in their vehicles.
*** Next, residents of Baltimore are a bit "on edge" over the recent rash of homicides.
(who the hell wouldn't be?)
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/us/Baltimore-residents-fearful-amid-rash-of-homicides-6882922
Now who could have guessed THAT?
You can clearly see where the blame for this lies...with the mayor and the state's prosecutor.
This is vandalism...NOT justice.
This "rush to judgment" against police officers, which seems to be spreading like some cancer across these United States needs to be PROPERLY addressed, and not summarily adjudicated.
When voices cry out "justice by any and all means necessary", that hardly instills a sense of equity in our judicial system, does it?
Granted, there are those specific times when other resources need to be employed.
And, like in the movie THE PUNISHER (2004) ..."In certain extreme situations, the law IS inadequate. In order to shame it's inadequacy, it's necessary to act outside the law...to pursue NATURAL JUSTICE..."
But, this is not an extreme situation, nor is it the purview of ANY prosecutor to enact such street-corner justice to extract a "pound of flesh" to quiet the uneducated masses.
Nuff said for now...
*** Last back to the barn...the FWPD will be graduating another recruit class this evening (at the Public Safety Academy), and I wonder if what NEEDS to be said to these rookies will indeed BE said.
I highly doubt it...too many of the command staffs today seem to be mired in politics, rather than law-enforcement.
This isn't to say that ALL departments are like this (thank God)...they are not..
But the ones that ARE have been setting the wrong precedent for the future of policing in this nation.
This new "soft" manner of policing - the ambassadorial approach...the "feel-good" tactics...whatever the hell you want to call it, is NOT what is needed, and will never work as inyended.
Maybe in some Utopia it would work.,..or in the movie DEMOLITION MAN...lol.
But not on OUR streets  and especially not in times like this.
I guess the "rooks" will find out soon enough.
Too many on the left have allowed the justice system to become an INJUSTICE SYSTEM over the last few decades, and it's got nothing at all to do with race, ethnicity, religion, class...none of that.
Nebraska just banned the death penalty...another state takes the fall.
When are people going to learn that there are some REALLY dangerous people out there and the best way to deal with them is to get them off our streets or TAKE THEM OUT (and not to dinner and a Broadway show)?
I would love to see the punishment fit a lot MORE of the crimes that are committed, and that would not be off the mark from a Biblical perspective.
Whatever the case, we need criminals to KNOW that breaking the law (still) has consequences.
However, when felonies become misdemeanors, and misdemeanors are excused ALTOGETHER, that's not the way a society moves forward.
When laws are changed, statistics are fudged, and law-enforcement has it's hands tied behind it's back...that is NOT how you make a nation's people BETTER, or more LAWFUL.
Quite the reverse.
We will always have lawbreakers among us...people who commit crime. Been that way since the model came out (Cain and Abel, for example), and, as a result of such things, we have had the need for those who rid us OF the criminals...who UPHOLD the law.
Time to get real and get back to what used to work a helluva lot better than what we see passing for justice these days.
Justice, we're told...is FOR ALL...not SOME...or a FEW...or a privileged class...EVERYONE.
And it's intended to be applied EQUALLY along those lines.
To not follow those principles invites disaster...again, for EVERYONE.
Just something to think about, right?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Again late, I went to bed after Time Machining and dinner last night.

See, told ya it wasn't Moochelle Obama what said that!

Oh, sure, miss one day of Bob and miss hamburger day! Grumble, mutter...

Agree with you on the cars. All those computers just mean that many more ways to get you into a repair shop... and an expensive one at that.

Sorry about it, Baltimore. No wait, no I'm not. You lay down with dogs...

Enough for this post. Mama hasn't read Time Machine yet!

Hey, as long as we're NOT married, I will NEVER hold ANY tardiness against you...LOL.

Not Moochelle...ROFL!

Hey, it's not MY fault...even if I ALMOST forgot.
(almost ONLY counts with HORSESHOES and HAND GRENADES)

Yep, and all that is USUALLY ASIDE from the TOW TRUCK that gets you TO that repair shop (trust me on that one)

B'more's been doing it "doggie-style" ever since the Leftists took over local government.

(neither have I...like to save it for the weekend...when I;m in a more MUSICAL mood...heh)

Thanks for stopping back to comment on yesterday's post (today).

Stay safe up there, brother.
