Humpday Happenings - Veteran's Day Edition...
Welcome to the middle of our week, and a very important day for all who have served in the bramches of our military.
The forecast for the Midwest is a bit on the ominous side, however.
Our Hoosierland weather will lead us to believe all is well, with partly cloudy skies, and temps reaching to the 60-degree mark. It will also be breezy and it's those breezes we'll be keeping a close eye on, as they are supposed to increase in intensity overnight into tomorrow.
(there go the trash bins in our neighborhood)
In any event, it might be a bit of a problem, but at least not for today.
So, let's all get that morning drink poured as we take a peek at what's happening elsewhere...
*** First off of the flagpole is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over them."
Only appropriate that we express such things on this day.
So, WHO said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at West Point...
*** And, it's also time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
November 11 -
---Today is NATIONAL SUNDAE DAY
(Any day can be a good day for one)
---And, it's VETERANS DAY
(more about that farther down today's post)
*** Next up, a man is found dead in a car by FWPD.
Here's what's known (so far):
http://wane.com/2015/11/11/police-find-dead-body-inside-car/
Another day, another D/B - must be the SE side.
As usual...not much, right?
The D/B was found in what looks like a Monte Carlo that was in an alley along the 300 block of Kinnaird Avenue around 0030 hrs this morning.
Investigators were unable to determine the COD, and the coroner will release a report sometime today.
A neighbor initially called police with a suspicious car report, but FWPD believes the car had been there for several hours.
(I report suspicious vehicles after 20 minutes, but then again, that's me)
No one in the area reported a disturbance or gunshots.
Police have not determined if the man was the owner of the vehicle.
Could this be homicide number 28?
*** Meanwhile a little farther north, we have this:
http://wane.com/2015/11/10/man-seriously-hurt-in-north-side-shooting/
Even the photos suck.
An owner of a store near the area of Glenn Avenue and N. Clinton was shot Tuesday night around 2115 hrs. The store owner was first robbed, and then shot.
It's unclear if the suspect got away with anything.
No description of the suspect is available, an K-9 units were busy trying to get a track.
(funny, there's no "if you have any information, call police" mentioned)
*** Next up, you can thank me (once again) for mentioning that something like this NEXT story was coming to our fair city.
And, it makes the REAL case as to WHY our "king" needed that THIRD term.
(all part of the 20-year "masterplan")
King Henry wants to "expand Fort Wayne's borders"...
(Didn't someone in Germany in the late 1930s say something similar when they marched into Poland???)
How does one do that, Bob?
ANNEXATION
Why does one do that, Bob?
TO SHORE UP AN ERODING TAX BASE.
Sound a bit familiar? It should, as I mentioned this ploy for years, and that the city would HAVE to do it, much to the chagrin of those who are about to be "brought in". That's what happens when a whole quadrant of a city is allowed to go to hell, and nothing is done to stop it.
It's called the "easy way" to get out when you're in OVER YOUR HEAD..
Here's a news release from WOWO:
http://www.wowo.com/ArticleDisplay/tabid/74/ArticleId/38032/Mayor-Henry-Willing-to-Explore-Annexation-in-Third-Term.aspx
Also, you can reference my posts from 12 March 2013, 6 August 2012, 10 February 2012, 28 August 2007, and 7 January 2007.
"It's  MY realm...all MINE."
In EVERY post, I mentioned that word ANNEXATION...and now, I am being proven right in my call that sooner or later, THIS mayor (read king) would pull this one out of his "crown".
Welcome to democrat rule, folks...hope you come to enjoy it (not).
*** Last back to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier...today is VETERANS DAY.
And, it's a day to remember ALL those who have served this nation in the various branches of our military.
Here's the WIKI on it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterans_Day
Sadly, we no longer have ANY veterans from "The war to end all wars" - WW1.
And now, we're fast losing all those who served in WW2.
With "the passing of the guard", as it were, we lose a large part of OURSELVES...not just those who pass that were veterans.
We lose a part of...AMERICA.
I think it's great that stores offers specials for our veterans, and that organizations such as Wounded Warriors do so much to help our vets.
But this nation can do so much more...and should.
It's ALL these men (and women) who have sacrificed so very much that make it possible for everyone here to breathe the air of freedom and liberty.
Without them and their service, who knows that this country would be like.
So, take time to remember all that has been done, and continues to be done for you.
Thank a vet, and not just today, but anytime you encounter one.
Your thanks means that our veterans have done their job...something they already knew, but need to be reassured of from time to time.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Just doing my part for this day.
It's the veterans that allow all of us to be able to do the simple things we often take for granted...like posting a humble blog.

Without them serving our country, I shudder to think where we would be.

Thanks for rolling up today and commenting.
Much appreciated.

Stay safe down there, dear.

How can King Tom figure to get anything lucrative out of the "area south of Southtown Mall"? I mean, I know we're talking residential there, but the prop vals out there have to be falling too... Payday now, pay for it in infrastructure fixes in some "far" future?

Most cities have turned into donuts, with outer development hiding a dying downtown. I think KT is trying to make a donut hole- denude the outliers to make a little sugar paradise for the rich.

Think how popular our city will be in another twenty years. sheesh...

Chris:

Another area being looked at is out WEST towards 'Busco, too.
There are some areas south of the current city limits that include some nice residential areas. One neighbor actually had a house built about 5 mins south of the city.

Wanting to build a donut hole is a very good analogy you've made.

KT is gonna NEED some revenue and SOON, because all the "improvements" we've seen downtown were NOT built upon totally PRIVATE development (as they could and should have been)
The same will hold true when the riverfront gets built up, you watch.

And I don't need to be someone w/ a developer background, or a civil engineering degree.
I've seen this ALL before, and I remember what happened back in Philly.

The same pattern is being established (and as in Philly, under democrat rule).

Again, it comes down to (still) NOT doing anything to IMPROVE the SOUTH side and make it revenue VIABLE (again), as it used to be.
Time will tell all, my friend.

Thanks for stopping by today to comment.
Stay safe (and informed) up there, brother.
