13 November 2015

Friday (the 13th) Follies...
Welcome to one of THOSE Fridays.
(and certainly not the ones you sit down and have a meal at).
Those winds were sure kickin' up a fit over the past 24 hours, and finally, we'll have an end to it sometime today.
In spite of gusts reaching around 50 MPH, not that much damage was sustained by people in and around town (thankfully).
Our Hoosierland weather today will see us with partly cloudy skies (yes, that IS the sun you see rising), and temps, although getting off to a cool start will reach into the upper 40s.
Don't see any rain on the immediate horizon, but this IS Indiana, so you never can tell, right?
All one has to do is stand still for a minute and you'll find SOME change in the weather.
(the unpredictability is the ONLY thing predictable around here...LOL)
Now, grab yourselves a nice hearty cup of Friday Fortitude as we set off and take a look at what has been going on elsewhere...
*** First off of the driveway is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
November 13 -
---Today is NATIONAL INDIAN PUDDING DAY.
In case you're wondering, I've taken care of that
http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/November/indianpuddingday.htm
---It's also Friday the 13th
And here's some of the lowdown as to WHY such days have fearful or cautionary aspects to it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_the_13th
That might set things straight.
*** Since it's also week's end, let's see what will be going on over the next 72 hours:
November 14 -
---Saturday is NATIONAL PICKLE DAY
(All I can say is try not to get INTO one.)
---It's also NATIONAL SPICY GUACAMOLE DAY
(sorry, don't eat it...don't care)
November 15 -
---Sunday is NATIONAL BUNDT (pan) DAY
(need one to make a bundt cake)
---It's also NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY
(always good to do something nice for someone)
---And, it's NATIONAL CLEAN OUT YOUR REFRIGERATOR DAY
(time to lose those "mystery" items wrapped in foil)
---It's NATIONAL HERMIT COOKIE DAY
(never knew hermits made cookies, but I knew that elves did)
---And, it's NATIONAL RAISIN BRAN CEREAL DAY
(keeps one regular...trust me)
---It's also AMERICA RECYCLES DAY
(don't tell me - tell the "neighbors" - and our lawn is NOT a drop-off site)
So there you have it...all the things to keep one out of trouble (we hope).
Moving on...
*** Next , There are many underlying "causes" for this flap out in Mizzou with black students (now growing to 20 other colleges) getting their asses up over relatively nothing, but our local paper has a story that nails a large part of it down fairly well. Here's the link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/us/Minorities-fighting--microaggressions--9875764
The key word to all this is MICROAGGRESSION.
Remember it, because we'll probably be hearing this for some time (until the next "cause celebre" gets the attention of the uneducated masses).
It's just more PC-BS coming our way.
You tell 'em, Chuck
Now, the word "microaggression" is a CONTRIVED word, because Merriam Websters could not find it. I can't wait until some leftard ADDS it to our lexicon...you wait and see if they don't.
While we wait, that doesn't mean we can't figure out what it is or means, right?
Here's we go, kids...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microaggression_theory
And not nice for everyone ELSE.
Okay, so this is all a THEORY, but unlike the Broken Window Theory or Pavlov's Theory, there is no substantive proof it exists, other than what (or how) people "feel", and remember it's ALL about feelings, and NOT about facts in this case. Sound familiar?
Personally, I see it as the next ploy some are using to get those "reparations", and there are those who are making it look easy by "crying wolf".
There are ALWAYS liberal ears listening for such things.
The weird part is, with this latest societal "fad" (like those flash-mobs from several years ago), it takes very little to instigate a microaggression.
You roll your eyes or even walk past someone, and some ethnic thinks you're RACIST..or a transgender thinks you're HOMOPHOBIC.
See how EASY it is? Don't even have to try hard at all, right?
And these people that perpetrate this tactic are all about what's EASY in  life.
The WIKI is rather insightful and proves the basic beliefs behind this growing "trend".
Here's another website you may fine useful:
http://www.microaggressions.com/
( a very interesting place to visit - power, privilege, hmm?)
And this from a year ago:
http://www.city-journal.org/2014/24_4_racial-microaggression.html
Or this
http://www.bloombergview.com/articles/2015-09-11/how-grown-ups-deal-with-microaggressions-
It's easy to see that in such an increasingly permissive culture that's tripping over all it's "diversity" and choking to death on it's political correctness gets caught up in such nonsense.
And social media with it's "instant gratification" helps feed it to no small end here.
When you allow a nation of wusses to gain a level of control, THIS is how they do it...pick on every...little...thing.
Like a thousand gnats buzzing all around all the time...a real nuisance.
Funny, back when I was their age, we had a lot THICKER skin...were a LOT more TOLERANT (a word this new-gen loves to toss around with abandon without knowing the contextual applications), and letting all these "slights" roll off our backs.
Can't do THAT today, however...better (and EASIER) to take a college president to task and have him removed.(wonder why no one wants to do that in D.C.?)
*** Last back to the garage...whatever happened to the whole premise of "live and let live"?
Sticks and Stones? Water off a duck's Back? Yeah, THAT kinda stuff.
Self-declarations not withstanding
Sure, life is gonna throw some morons your way (more often that not, unfortunately), and some idiots (sometimes on a daily basis), and even some bullies.
You tell 'em, Cap!
How we handle such people AND the situations they bring into our lives goes a long way to build character in ANY individual.
But with all this "new-found" nonsensical microaggressive behavior, all I'm noticing is some perverse way to LEGITIMIZE BAD BEHAVIOR.
Sorry, that dog ain't gonna hunt for me.
When many of us were young (and a lot less knowledgeable and wise) we managed to deal with such things in a very BASIC way - WE IGNORED SUCH CRAP!
(our parents drilled that into us)
We never gave pause to acknowledge the utter stupidity of either the statement OR the person mouthing it.
Can't do that today, though...gotta get it on YouTube, or some other liberal media outlet for ALL the world to see.
Buncha f$cking CRY-BABYS...that's all these young people are, and as long as ANY segment of our society provides a stage for them to "act out" upon, the rest of us won't sleep near as well as we should.
We need people who WILL stand up to them, teach them that life might toss a few lemons at them once in a while, and that they should learn to make some damn lemonade instead of protesting their lazy asses off, and giving them the power they should not have without the knowledge and wisdom to wield such power.
One might say it's like giving a Neanderthal a nuclear device.
Yeah, we used to just ignore them, and perhaps that time is past. I'd like to think otherwise.
We need to confront them and show them the folly of their behavior, and that a NORMAL society has no room for such abhorrent activities.
Remember...what you ALLOW is what WILL continue. It's that simple.
And therein lies the lesson for this week.
DO have yourselves a very good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

12 November 2015

Thoughts For Thursday...
If nothing else, it's WINDY out there this morning.
And we, here in America's Heartland are due for more of it throughout the day.
Could always be worse...like being in Colorado and dealing with a foot of SNOW, which is making road conditions hazardous as hell.
Our Hoosierland weather will see us with the aforementioned winds, with gusts expected to reach around the 50 MPH mark.
Mostly cloudy skies will follow along with some rain tossed in just to make "interesting".
Expect highs today to be in the mid-fifties - the same temp is is outside before 0700 hrs. After taht, temps will drop and wind up in the high FORTIES.
If you travel today, be advised there may be fallen limbs, outages which could cause non-functioning traffic signals, and some scattered trash-bins or other debris blowing around...you never can tell these days.
Meanwhile, let's take it as easy as we can under the circumstances, get a soothing morning drink poured and settle back to see what is going on elsewhere...
*** First out of the storm cellar is the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the futureto run over them."
This was spoken by our good friend, former president Dwight D. Eisenhower (October 14, 1890 - March 28 1969)
And here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwight_D._Eisenhower
While Ike launched programs like the Interstate Highway System and DARPA, he was also a MODERATE republican, and continued some of the new deal programs and expanded executive privilege.
He DID manage to expand Social Security, and tried to pass civil rights laws (something we wouldn't see until LBJ came along).
If you haven't read the WIKI,  you might want to give it go, and even if you have read it before, the parts about his presidency and specifically his policies regarding the Middle East are worth it, especially the "Eisenhower Doctrine" to maintain control (with Britain) of Iranian oil fields.
Don'cha miss THOSE days?
*** Next up, is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
November 12 -
--- Today is NATIONAL PIZZA WITH THE WORKS ( EXCEPT ANCHOVIES) DAY
(Okay, that's rather pointless, but any day WITH pizza gets MY vote. And I prefer pizza without all the greens, olives and such, and definitely NO "Hawaiian" or Buffalo wings pizza. That's just UN-AMERICAN!)
---And, it's NATIONAL CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL DAY
(who knew it had so many uses?)
*** Next up, I was following this whole Missouri university flap by some "angry" black students that resulted in the firing of the college's top TWO officials.
All I can say is welcome to anarchy. No other way to express it.
We would seem to have handed the keys of the asylum over to the inmates, at least in academia.
Here's one of the more "critical thinking" stories:
http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/11/white_racism_at_mizzou_and_berkeley_racial_hoaxes_of_the_week.html
And here's a more concise analysis from Breitbart:
http://www.breitbart.com/racism/2015/11/09/missouri-confirms-it-us-campuses-are-sliding-into-pc-chaos/
THIS is what you get when liberalism takes hold and doesn't let go (read allowed to blossom).
Once again, we see no REAL evidence of the racial slights we're supposed to believe happened.
Sounds like the Duke lacrosse rape charges all OVER again (and we know what a hoax THAT was).
If there was no evidence about race hatred charges forthcoming, then WHY didn't the college president just dismiss the case (and the offensive students) ? When and why do we allow STUDENTS to rule the educational system?
The Art of War
And you KNOW this is spreading to OTHER colleges around the country.
You see, this is ALL part of a much larger puzzle. This is just one of the pieces.
One of the best ways to keep people "off-guard" is to DISTRACT them.
Hell, Sun Tzu knew as much
This is a FAR cry from the "old" protest days I remember from the 60s and 70s.
Sit-ins have been replaced with outright  violence and school officials leave rather than stand THEIR ground...
I do like the phrase in the second story : "Emotionally-Incontinent".
That marvelously expresses what these anarchists really are...lol.
*** Next up, J-G columnist Frank Gray brings to light a topic I'm sure ALL of us are tired of.
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/frank-gray/People-taking-offense-atevery-whim-is-offensive-9854578
Yes, this whole being offended at every whim IS offensive...and tiresome for many of us.
You can't get away from it...seems everyone is cheesed off at the slightest thing OVER the slightest thing...and for no good reason.
Just grow a pair, put on your BIG people pants, get some thicker skin, and get the hell over it...!
It's part of life...grow the f$ck up, you infantile morons.
Now, I get my "Dutch" up at many things and people...BUT, I have a reason for doing so, and I make it clear as glass.
Yet, like any person who has more than a few brain cells that DO function as designed, I "pick my battles".
I don't rant and rail against the trivial, and certainly not against anything that cannot be validated in any way, shape, or form.
Still, when it comes to the "youts" of America these days, the more frivolous and trumped-up a cause...the better (for them).
I just shake my head at this crap and wonder where will it all end.
Momma Fargo (The Boogie Man is My Friend blog - link at left) had a great post on this yesterday (11 Nov,) with two fantastic videos that sum it all up...check them out, please.
And then you can nod in agreement, just like I did.
*** Next up, I did a post or two ages ago referencing a little-known movie from the late 60s - WILD IN THE STREETS.
Here's the WIKI on this dystopian gem:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_in_the_Streets
Now, we are witnesses to an eerily similar series of events, that hopefully will not culminate in the results that were portrayed in the movie.
The movie became one of those "cult-classics" of the counterculture movement.
It has to do with the baby-boomer generation coming of age, but losing control of American society.
When young people rise to power and enact a series of "laws" determined to keep "those old people" at bay, the domino effect of such tactics is predictable...and inevitable.
Imagine a nation where anyone OVER 35 is sent to a "re-education camp" and that young people rule the country.
Given the many circumstances we're seeing at universities across the nation, such things are not as "far-fetched" and well within the realm of reality, should be allow the present state to evolve (or is that devolve?) and continue.
It's worth a watch, if you can find it around.
*** Next, an update on the man found dead in a car yesterday.
And, it IS homicide NUMBER TWENTY-EIGHT (as I predicted it would be).
Here's the story link:
http://wane.com/2015/11/12/body-found-in-car-idd-death-ruled-homicide/
The man was ID'ed as 18 year old Jose G. Razo-Rodriguez and the cause of death was due to gunshot wounds Nice of the neighbors to NOT hear anything, too. Apathy can be hard-of-hearing as well as blind.
*** Last back to the bunker...our nation IS reaching a tipping point in many ways.
We have at least one generation that could use a serious spanking, with another generation that simply needs a good swift kick in their ASSES...and their complacency.
Those of us who had parents that were part of the "greatest generation" - living through the Great Depression as well as WW2 still retain many of the values that those in our families passed down to us, and it's THIS type of mindset that is sorely need in today's America.
Gone are the days of Beaver Cleaver...that much is certain, but by God, we need to wrest back all that we have lost along the way when it comes to AMERICAN culture, values, and principles.
The anarchists and socialists are making a push to take our liberties and freedoms from all of us, and we need to start pushing the hell back in any and all ways possible.
We need to make sure that our moral compass is pointed in the right direction, and we also need to call out every single one of these bastards that would turn us into a nation that is as far from what the Founding Fathers envisioned as the east os from the west.
We need to stop with ALL of the POLITICALLY-correct bullshit and start applying all the MORALLY and SOCIALLY correct aspects of humanity once again. It's still OUR country...and OUR choice. Let's make it the right one...and stick to it, for OUR sake, and this nation's.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

11 November 2015

Humpday Happenings - Veteran's Day Edition...
Welcome to the middle of our week, and a very important day for all who have served in the bramches of our military.
The forecast for the Midwest is a bit on the ominous side, however.
Our Hoosierland weather will lead us to believe all is well, with partly cloudy skies, and temps reaching to the 60-degree mark. It will also be breezy and it's those breezes we'll be keeping a close eye on, as they are supposed to increase in intensity overnight into tomorrow.
(there go the trash bins in our neighborhood)
In any event, it might be a bit of a problem, but at least not for today.
So, let's all get that morning drink poured as we take a peek at what's happening elsewhere...
*** First off of the flagpole is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over them."
Only appropriate that we express such things on this day.
So, WHO said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at West Point...
*** And, it's also time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
November 11 -
---Today is NATIONAL SUNDAE DAY
(Any day can be a good day for one)
---And, it's VETERANS DAY
(more about that farther down today's post)
*** Next up, a man is found dead in a car by FWPD.
Here's what's known (so far):
http://wane.com/2015/11/11/police-find-dead-body-inside-car/
Another day, another D/B - must be the SE side.
As usual...not much, right?
The D/B was found in what looks like a Monte Carlo that was in an alley along the 300 block of Kinnaird Avenue around 0030 hrs this morning.
Investigators were unable to determine the COD, and the coroner will release a report sometime today.
A neighbor initially called police with a suspicious car report, but FWPD believes the car had been there for several hours.
(I report suspicious vehicles after 20 minutes, but then again, that's me)
No one in the area reported a disturbance or gunshots.
Police have not determined if the man was the owner of the vehicle.
Could this be homicide number 28?
*** Meanwhile a little farther north, we have this:
http://wane.com/2015/11/10/man-seriously-hurt-in-north-side-shooting/
Even the photos suck.
An owner of a store near the area of Glenn Avenue and N. Clinton was shot Tuesday night around 2115 hrs. The store owner was first robbed, and then shot.
It's unclear if the suspect got away with anything.
No description of the suspect is available, an K-9 units were busy trying to get a track.
(funny, there's no "if you have any information, call police" mentioned)
*** Next up, you can thank me (once again) for mentioning that something like this NEXT story was coming to our fair city.
And, it makes the REAL case as to WHY our "king" needed that THIRD term.
(all part of the 20-year "masterplan")
King Henry wants to "expand Fort Wayne's borders"...
(Didn't someone in Germany in the late 1930s say something similar when they marched into Poland???)
How does one do that, Bob?
ANNEXATION
Why does one do that, Bob?
TO SHORE UP AN ERODING TAX BASE.
Sound a bit familiar? It should, as I mentioned this ploy for years, and that the city would HAVE to do it, much to the chagrin of those who are about to be "brought in". That's what happens when a whole quadrant of a city is allowed to go to hell, and nothing is done to stop it.
It's called the "easy way" to get out when you're in OVER YOUR HEAD..
Here's a news release from WOWO:
http://www.wowo.com/ArticleDisplay/tabid/74/ArticleId/38032/Mayor-Henry-Willing-to-Explore-Annexation-in-Third-Term.aspx
Also, you can reference my posts from 12 March 2013, 6 August 2012, 10 February 2012, 28 August 2007, and 7 January 2007.
"It's  MY realm...all MINE."
In EVERY post, I mentioned that word ANNEXATION...and now, I am being proven right in my call that sooner or later, THIS mayor (read king) would pull this one out of his "crown".
Welcome to democrat rule, folks...hope you come to enjoy it (not).
*** Last back to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier...today is VETERANS DAY.
And, it's a day to remember ALL those who have served this nation in the various branches of our military.
Here's the WIKI on it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterans_Day
Sadly, we no longer have ANY veterans from "The war to end all wars" - WW1.
And now, we're fast losing all those who served in WW2.
With "the passing of the guard", as it were, we lose a large part of OURSELVES...not just those who pass that were veterans.
We lose a part of...AMERICA.
I think it's great that stores offers specials for our veterans, and that organizations such as Wounded Warriors do so much to help our vets.
But this nation can do so much more...and should.
It's ALL these men (and women) who have sacrificed so very much that make it possible for everyone here to breathe the air of freedom and liberty.
Without them and their service, who knows that this country would be like.
So, take time to remember all that has been done, and continues to be done for you.
Thank a vet, and not just today, but anytime you encounter one.
Your thanks means that our veterans have done their job...something they already knew, but need to be reassured of from time to time.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.
