Thoughts For Thursday...
Yesterday was a bit of a "steamer" as far as heat AND humidity go, and today won't be that much different.
It's already into the low 70s outside, and it's barely 0600 hrs.
Our Hoosierland weather for today will have us with temps once again reaching the 88-degree range, but mostly cloudy skies will portend some rain moving in later on with the possibility of a thunderstorm.
Well, it IS Thor's Day, so who else would you expect to be causing a ruckus?
Now, what say we get ourselves that drink poured and parked alongside us as we take a peek at what has been going on elsewhere, hmm?
*** First out of the tanning booth is the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"Our country is now taking so steady a course as to show by what road it will pass to destruction, to wit: by consolidation of power first, and then corruption, its necessary consequence."
This was uttered by our founding father and third President of our United States, Thomas Jefferson (April 13 [O.S. April 2] 1743 – July 4, 1826) and here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson
Now, you've probably already read this, but it never hurts to refresh the old memory.
And, as a side note, this week on the FNC, the program LEGENDS AND LIES: THE PATRIOTS will feature Jefferson, so tune in SUNDAY night (8 PM). It's a good series, right up there with the Old West programs they ran last year.
*** Next up, is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
July 7 -
---Today is NATIONAL FATHER-DAUGHTER TAKE A WALK DAY
(gonna have to pass on this one)
---It's also NATIONAL STRAWBERRY SUNDAE DAY
(outta strawberries, too...damn)
---And, it's NATIONAL MACARONI DAY
(did this a couple weeks back - might do it this week)
*** Next, we also notched HOMICIDE NUMBER 19 yesterday.
(right on the heels of #18, this was the Euclid front-door shooting a couple days ago - update your deadpool, folks). Here's the updated stories:
http://wane.com/2016/07/06/police-name-persons-of-interest-in-2-latest-homicides/
Yes, even FWPD (soon to be ex) capo Garry Hamilton came out to hold a "presser" on this as they believe they have TWO persons of interest in these shootings.
It's said that neither of the two recent homicides were GANG-related, but rather "domestic" in nature.
(it's a fact that close to 80% of all homicides involve people who KNOW one another).
Burden                           Figgs
The two perps the police are looking for are Davon Burden, 27, as the suspect in the Monday death of 28-year old Dominic Javon Norton in the 4100 block of Euclid Ave, and Christopher Figgs, 28, a suspect in the Tuesday shooting  death of Edword (sic) L. Kiel in the 3400 block of McKinnie Ave.
Since they have mugshots, it's logical to conclude that they are no strangers to the penal system.
And, for once, it was "public engagement" (according to Rusty York, the PSD capo) that led to having these two being wanted. Let's hope they get caught, get convicted and tossed away for a LONG time.
(never hurts to dream).
*** In a related story, the neighbors weigh in on this violent behavior as well as the number of UNSOLVED homicides  (by black males against other black males) in their part of the ghettohood.
Here's the link to this story:
http://wane.com/2016/07/06/residents-remain-frustrated-with-unsolved-homicides/
I think the ONLY two that have been solved were police-action shootings.
Not the BEST average for the rest of the homicides, is it?
Well, it could ALWAYS be worse, like in Chicago this past weekend.\, where SIXTY people were shot (don't know how many were fatal in nature), so we're at least beating THOSE odds (for the time being), right?
Be better to try and beat some SENSE into some of these people so they might refrain from that violent streak that many seem to possess.
*** Next, and speaking of having SENSE, there's THIS story:
http://wane.com/2016/07/07/gun-discharges-hits-man-in-face/
Oops, anyone hear about something called GUN SAFETY? Apparently not.
Definitely, an "UH-OH" moment.
This took place around 0300 hrs this morning in the 2100 block of Hobson Rd at the Baldwin Creek Apartments.
(seems I remember more than a few crimes occurring THERE in recent history)
Anyone recall the raw sewage situation there that forced out 200 residents last year?
The report to police said that a man was trying to UNLOAD a gun when it discharged, hitting another man in the face (better hope it was a small caliber).
The victim was taken to hospital in a private vehicle (aren't a lot of them?), and was listed in serious condition, but downgraded to critical.
This may be ruled an accident, but there is also such a thing as NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE.
*** Next,  here's the major reason that residents in Fort Wayne HAVE to live with all the fireworks being set off by inconsiderate "neighbors":
http://www.journalgazette.net/opinion/editorials/Rockets--racket-sparks-few-complaints-13969501
Yes, it has to do with legislators in our state who levied fees (for firefighter training and gear - how ironic) for purchases of those fireworks. I mean, when you have $2.6 MIL rolling in a year, you don;t repeal ANY legislation against fireworks and the hazard they can cause. That MONEY is just too damn inviting to turn down, right?
Oh, and if you're wondering, people in Indiana spent about $52 MILLION BUCKS buying fireworks, thanks to those lawmakers who don't have to live among people who feel the need to be NOISY, rather than just plain patriotic.
And maybe THAT'S why they can't hear our pleas for some sort of curtailment on those loudass mortar rounds.
*** Next up, Another NE side house fire.
Here's the link to the story:
http://wane.com/2016/07/07/man-wakes-up-to-smoke-filled-house/
This took place around 0052 hrs this morning at a house located at 4428 Highwood Drive.
This is close to Snider High School and NOT that far from where other suspicious house fires have taken place.
The only difference in THIS story - the house was OCCUPIED.
The FWFD arrived and rescued the man hanging from a bathroom window. It was determined the fire started in the FRONT of the house (nice picture window to toss something through, I suppose).
Hope they investigate this as a possible arson.
Could whoever is starting those other fires be "upping the ante"?
At this rate,m someone WILL get hurt (or worse).
*** Last back to the sauna...some things in life are easy to figure out.
That's the GOOD news...
Much of the rest of life has this nasty tendency to get more complex.
For example, it's not difficult to conclude that gang-related crimes (and deaths) as well as many other crimes exist in the inner city and are caused by minority segments of our populace.
It's also not hard to figure out that this behavioral and cultural anomaly is the direct by-product of this entitlement society that liberals are so find of creating and sustaining (at the cost to everyone else).
They cause such problems, then (as Charley Reese said in a quote here yesterday) they campaign AGAINST them to win your vote. And the low-information crowd follows right along like some obedient puppy.
This is not theory or fallacy. This is the TRUTH, and it should be easy enough to discern from falsehood. But it depends on IF you're even looking for it in the first place.
Meme du jour.
Well, if you portray a LIE in a good light, and tell enough people long enough and loud enough, they will begin to believe that lie, instead of seeking truth. It becomes a study in how to present and nourish a perspective, and can, if done properly, take too many people on a journey down the rabbit hole into whatever "wonderland" these liars desire.
I'm sure this is not what our Founding Fathers intended for this nation, and our founding documents serve to prevent this from happening. But, the problem lies in the people, and how they "feel" they should "interpret" whatever they are presented. It can become a vicious circle of deceit, but one that will seem "warm and fuzzy"
This is what we ALL need to guard against, lest we become that which we detest.
(and we won't even know it is happening until it's too late)
Just something to think about.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Well, at least I got here before I started TM tonight- just finishing out playing the M10 for Laurie- lots of surprises, and a newbie I think you in particular will really dig, being an Enya fan and all...

Baldwin Creek... a smart police force would go in once a week and confiscate all firearms there. Maybe the ACLU wouldn't like it, but it would bring the violent crime rate down...

Fireworks- no big surprise there. As Batman kept saying in Identity Crisis (when Sue got killed)- "Who benefits?"

Damn, the firebug is getting brave. Someone innocent is going to pay the price real quick, if FWPD doesn't pull its collective head out.

To add to the beginning of your ending(?) I think that it is a minority OF that minority that is the problem. But PCers contribute to its snowballing with their "blame one, blame them all" attitude. I can't believe how many "selfless crusaders or right" out there can't see their OWN hypocrisy. If you want a wound to heal- treat it. You don't refuse a bandaid because of "how the rest of your arm" will feel.

---ENYA? Ahh, my Irish lass with the voice of a thousand angels.
I'm intrigued now...can't wait for the TM.
---That, my friend would be a DMAN good start. Maybe our new FWPD chief will do something to that effect.
---I think we have a GOOD idea who REALLY benefits, don't we?
---Well, the "official" call isn't arson just yet, but the location, time, and area where the fire started leads ME to believe it just might be.
---I've said many times that the minority of the minority is the BASIS for such crimes. Knowledgeable readers like you know that to be true.
---Socialism DOES "share" everything...INCLUDING BLAME.
There's PLENTY of hypocrisy to go around (several times over). Maybe that's why I keep getting this feeling like I can't "fit in". Maybe it's WON'T fit in?
But at least I can look myself in the mirror (scary on MONDAYS...lol), and know I try to do the right thing and speak the truth.
(and my success rate is MUCH higher than those solving murders in Fort Wayne)

Thanks for swinging on by today and commenting.
Always a pleasure.

Stay safe & keep cool up there, brother.
