Humpday Happenings...
Middle of the week, and it's NOT raining outside (first time in three days). Amazing.
That doesn't mean we don't have rain on the horizon...we do.
Our Hoosierland weather will see us with partly cloudy skies (partly sunny, if you're a bit on the optimistic side) temps reaching into the low 80s and a chance of showers in the late afternoon (said there'd be rain...maybe).
So what say we get that morning drink poured as we see what else has been going on, hmm?
*** First out of the dryer is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"There is but one law for all, namely that law which governs all law, the law of our Creator, the law of humanity, justice, equity - the law of nature and of nations."
In a day when breaking the law seems commonplace, this stood out above many other quotes when it comes to obedience. So, WHO said that?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the House of Commons...
*** Next, we have our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
August 17 -
---Today is NATIONAL I LOVE MY FEET DAY
(in many cases, we're the only ones that do...LOL)
---And, it's NATIONAL THRIFT SHOP DAY
(where we live, that's pretty much all we have - thrift shops)
*** Next up, there is supposed to be a "presser" today in Fort Wayne, and it concerns the FWPD and city curfews.
Here's the story link:
http://wane.com/2016/08/16/police-plan-announcement-about-indiana-curfew-law/
And they interviewed one black man who WANTS the curfew to be enforced. I want that man living next door to us!
One woman they interviewed saw it as some sort of "martial law"...(must be a liberal).
There is a HUGE difference between a simple curfew and martial law, and believe me, you don't WANT to have martial law. That shows we've lost all control.
*** In a related story from Wisconsin, there's this:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/us/Curfew-use-called-into-question-14749611
Calling a curfew into "question" in a city that has seen rioting over the past few days? REALLY?
The sub-heading says it ALL - LESS UNREST after the law in ENFORCED.
Closing a park during curfew.
Imagine that.
In Fort Wayne, I can clearly see that any (state) curfew law is pretty much ignored by the age group it's supposed to be directed at (15-17 yr olds). Let's hope things change, because down here in the ghettohood, we need something to keep minority teens from becoming targets, right?
*** And speaking of the SE side, there's this story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/Revision-of-southeast-plan-sought-14750906
Yep, time to "change the rules" to make it easier for a business to get a tax credit down here.
There is ONE LINE in a proposed "plan" to revitalize our part of town, and it has to do with SUBSIDIZED HOUSING (big surprise there).
“Additional subsidized housing in the Southeast Strategy area should be discouraged until there is a better balance of subsidized housing throughout the Allen County Community,” the line slated for removal states.
Oh, so the city needs to SPREAD THE WEALTH around more (because that always works) right? Well, THAT should please people in nicer neighborhoods to NO small end, hmm?
I said for a while that crime was spreading, and it tracks true that wherever HUD goes, so follows the crime.
(and it has little to do with poverty)
“At the time, 2007 I believe it was, we didn’t want concentrated poverty just on the southeast side,” said Councilman Glynn Hines, D-6th, who was on the team that produced the original plan.
So, you want to move poverty all OVER the city, and to RICHER areas...?
(lead balloon time, folks)
Sounds like a socialist move to me...redistribution of (taxpayer's) "wealth" after a fashion. How quaint.
Gonna have to keep an eye on this one (and Hines, our councilhack-for-life, apparently).
*** Next, and since we're talking about "poverty", this story is LONG overdue:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/us/Food-stamp-enrollment-declining-at-fast-pace-14743840
Wow...food stamp enrollment is on the DECLINE...who'da thunk THAT?
And I better not hear Obummer taking credit for THIS, because it has NOTHING to do with anything HE implemented. Quite the opposite, really.
It DOES have to do with the STATES (where such power should lie) taking the initiative and cutting off benefits to those "able-bodied" individuals. And about damn time, too (imho).
(By reaching into everyone ELSE'S pockets)
This concerns the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
The states' plan would push about a MILLION people off that role.
Hey, that ONLY leaves another FORTY FIVE AND A HALF MILLION to go.
Now THAT is progress!
*** Next, The fight AGAINST "eminent domain" continues. Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/courts/Trial-set-to-fight-eminent-domain-14748021
That sounds all too familiar.
That damn riverfront project is certainly causing it's share of problems, and we're still in the planning stage.
(that plan is costing several hundred THOUSAND bucks, too).
Maybe the city needs to back the hell off of this one?
*** Next up, we bring you another chapter of "The Hobo Chronicles"
"You talk...I'll eat."
(or How I Learned To Be Adopted By A Community Cat!)
Well, that (impromptu) shelter kept the food dry throughout the showers we had...can't say the same for Hobo.
He got wet again, trying to stay behind the tall grass next to the house (and patio).
And then, he took to cleaning himself, as if the rain didn't help with that already.
Still, he's got a healthy appetite, and LOVES to be NEAR you. Wifey goes out and always gets her legs rubbed for free...lol.
"Finally, I can get stretch out and dry out."
He also NEVER stops purring (sign of contentment?).
Along those lines, we also had a visitor at our FRONT door.
"Good afternoon - Have you found GOD?
First thought was that it may have been another "JW", but I didn't see any copies of "The Watchtower", so I figured it HAD to be our buddy PATCHES.
Needless to say, I fed him. I figure he's OK with eating at a place OTHER than the patio...for the short term, anyway.
"Not as nice as the other eatery, but it'll do."
Maybe it will become a daily routine for him. It did for Wrinkles a couple years ago. He was known for climbing on the screen part of the storm door and staring at you. Must "run in the family"...lol.
*** Last back to the yard...critters versus people.
"Hey there, Sport!"
That's something I have come to study to some length.
I KNOW how the people are around here, and it's not a "neighborly" affair with most all of them.
They allow their kids to roam all over, often getting into places they don't belong, as well as riding and playing in busy streets. And many of them are part of the whole "government-sponsorship" program, because whoever is supposed to be parenting them thinks more of free stuff than seeking a productive profession to properly raise their children.
The critters tend to be the polar opposite, and they live totally by INSTINCT, without the complex thought processes we humans are supposed to employ.
Except if the FORCE is strong with them...
Perhaps that is part of man's innate desire to want to have pets.
Deep down, we appreciate their companionship...and they ours.
We ask little of them, and they of us. That's a wonderful kind of mutuality.
Some might consider it sort of symbiotic in nature.
It does make me wonder why we cannot or will not choose to do likewise with our fellow man.
Self-reliance for us does have it's place, as dependence upon oneself only helps to make better people, but so does banding together in times of trouble, or even just to share some camaraderie.
There's something for OUR species to think about.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

EVERYONE loves my feet- my shoes, not so much.

A curfew as martial law... she'd have loved the Soviet Union...

Well, Hines would wanna spread it around, since it's concentrated in HIS area. Go ahead and try it, King Tom, and see how fast the overall city property value plummets... and how much more you'll need to "annex" other areas to keep up. Cripes, you'll need a mercenary army to maintain "tribute" levels. Idiots.

Maybe FS use is going down because the state continues to make it increasingly difficult to figure out HOW to use them, and WHAT you can use them on, lol!

I hope Ream-Steckbeck takes the city to the cleaners on this one!

That quote on the pic of Patches... BWAH-HAH-HAH!!!!!!

If Milwaukee teaches us one lesson, it's that Darwin was fulla shit- man in most cases is a step BELOW animals. Makes you wonder why they put up with us.

Chris:
---You are DEFINITELY in the CORRECT ERA (wrong country, though).
---LOL...didn't think about our poor shoes.
---Some people JUST don't take the time to THINK (and that's a BIG problem in America).
But, we allow them to VOTE anyway.
---Right you are, and when property values DROP, so does the revenue they generate. Too simple for Libtards to understand though, right?
---That could well be...couple that with all the LOW-INFORMATION people getting them, and well, there 'ya go.
---They DO have a very good case. I agree with you.
---Patches just SO reminded me of the JWs. It was a REAL "Kodak-moment". I laughed too.
---I would add to that the fact that GODLY MEN wrote the Bible...in order to SHOW us the folly of OURSELVES.
In many ways, the animals are getting it RIGHT...even w/o a holy scripture as a guide.
Good point.

Hey, thanks for taking some time to drop by and comment.

You stay safe & stay dry up there, brother.
