Tuesday Tidbits...

And this summer-like week rolls on. Not to worry, though, it will return to more seasonal weather before we get to the weekend.
This must be driving the plants and trees crazy.
Our Hoosierland weather for today sees us with temps again reaching up to around 80 degrees, a partly cloudy sky (seems more MOSTLY cloudy where we live, but maybe that's just the way I'm feeling of late), more breezy conditions, and yes, there is a bit of humidity out there.
So, let's get ourselves something to wet the old whistle, as we see what's been going on elsewhere, shall we?

I called the Warsaw St. victim correctly. She was Latino.
Erin Lecretia Lawson, 31 was the victim in the Colerick St. shooting death (most likely black, considering that middle name).
Reyna Elida Ramirez-Coronado, 36 was the Warsaw St.victim. They haven't said who the man was in that shooting, or what his relationship to the victim had been. Wonder why?

I KNOW I have lousy "jazz-hands".

They said that every homicide this year has been either gang, drug or domestic related in nature.
Hey, let's go target THOSE specific issues, then. Why is it so "complicated" as YOU two put it?
York said: "We do not wait until a homicide happens until we are trying to figure out who is involved and what exactly occurred."

Are you kidding me?
How come the FWPD shows up AFTER a homicide, then?
What kind of answer is THAT?
You got a Ouija board downtown or something?
It sure SEEMS like you have to wait UNTIL AFTER a homicide occurs to find out WHO is involved, and many times, there is little real information forthcoming from witnesses...that's been proven. You two didn't manage to stop ANY of the 41 homicides that already took place this year, have you?
THESE are the kind of answers that really tick me off, and give me pause to question a LOT of what procedures are in place as opposed to what SHOULD be in place.

Sure, lets see IF she's competent to stand trial. Maybe she IS bat-shit crazy. I mean what SANE person goes and kills an older man to get his wheels, then proceeds to smother her two children, right?

And guess what?
That hike is HURTING the company. Here's the story:

The reason cited for the increase is all that "original programming" they're airing.
That's what happens when you try and become a "separate channel", as it were. Such things COST MONEY.

And this is why other channels that are profitable have things called COMMERCIALS...to help pay for a lot of what they air.
Cripes, a blind man could have seen this coming.
Netflix is doing better overseas, but even with that, it has to go head-to-head with AMAZON and HBO, as well as other direct competitors.

"Where's that other cat that used to watch me?"

Our feline friend was ever so attentive yesterday. He must have known I was not on my "A" game with our cat, and what the two of us are going through.

"I'm sticking to you like glue...you take care of me."

Hobo was at my side whenever I went out to sit and think. And he was well-fed for his troubles.

"Hey Junior...it's been a while".

Later in the day, Hobo took off to patrol the rest of the neighborhood, and in his stead came Junior and Patches, the "community" squirrels.

"Hello Patches...missed you too."

And yes, they also got their fill (of peanuts). We never turn away an empty stomach.
*** Next up, our old cat Rassie continues his journey from this life, slow and purposed as it is.

He does move about the house, but it's very slow, and he stumbles a bit. This morning, I saw him near the family room drapes, so I sat at the table for coffee and to read the paper.
I happened to look down, and there he was, laying alongside my chair. I'll say one thing, he's STILL stealthy.
And he has to be near his "daddy".
*** Last back to the institution...it's not easy being on what we used to call a "death-watch".

We all will spend some time alongside a hospital bed of a loved one as they slowly slip from our lives. Once in a while, we're spared the length of that, and they pass quickly or quietly in their sleep. Another one of life's mysteries, I guess.
It's not easy to say goodbye to a loved one (whether they have two feet or four), and no matter how much time we have to prepare, we are never truly ready for such a departure.

Seems we ALL suffer some form of PTSD then, right?

It's not like standing at the gate, waving to someone boarding a plane, is it?
Some departures have a permanence to them, and that is something we can never get over, no matter how much time has passed since they left us.

I still feel it every day with my parents. Dad has been gone since 1978, and Mom since 1998.
Those are decades past, and yet, in some ways, it never seems THAT long ago.
With time comes familiarity, and a comfort attached to that familiarity. Perhaps that's one way we manage to get through those rough times...not by denial, but by a certain acceptance that the departed among us will not be departed forever. I like to believe that with God, such things are always possible.
