31 January 2017

Tuesday Tidbits...
Here we are, end of the first month this year, and you have to say it's been one helluva ride so far in many respects.
And, we end January on a snowy note, if you're north of our city. Everyplace else seems to be getting some rain. It's certainly not cold enough for snow where we live, and speaking of "cold", I still have this sinus cold, which is providing no end to the fun I'm experiencing.
Our Hoosierland weather will see us with mostly cloudy skies (what, again?) temps topping out around 38 degrees, the aforementioned rain with maybe a snow mix, and windy conditions. Dress accordingly and do drive safely.
Now, what say we get a nice soothing morning drink, as we take a look at some of the other "stuff" that's going on elsewhere, hmm?
*** First off of the stove-top is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JANUARY 31 -
---Today is National Backward Day
(something tells me they're celebrating in D.C. for this one)
---And, it's National Inspire Your Heart With Art Day
(pick a genre and have at it)
*** Next, and because it's a Tuesday, time once again for all the FWPD calls that the media didn't see fit to tell us about (because having 10+ stories about Trump daily serves the leftard agenda).
Do NOT mess with CHUCK!

A d believe it or else, we had NO FIREWORKS CALLS last week...frigging amazing!
*** Next, time for some local stupid, which we never seem to be at a loss, right?
---This first story goes to show that some older black males DO know how to make a withdrawal at a local bank...of YOUR money.
Here's the link:
http://wane.com/2017/01/30/police-respond-to-bank-robbery/
This took place at the PNC Bank located at 3901 E. State Blvd. inside Statewood Plaza at 1140 hrs yesterday.
The man walks in, demands money, and then after getting some, walks back out...so simple a caveman could do it.
Never showed a weapon or even said he had one.
Got some good video captures, too. A shame the perp wasn't captured (yet).
A K-9 tried to track the robber, but came up empty (what, again?)
Maybe, if the teller just said "NO" once in a while...
---The next story has a car hitting a house. Here's the link:
http://wane.com/2017/01/31/car-hits-house-driver-seriously-hurt/
Damn, dat be helluva park job, dawg!
As usual, it's on the SE side, (Marcy and Werling - McKinnie and Capital) around 0300 hrs.
Driver's in good condition, after running over a street sign, bouncing off a house (strong house), knocked over a utility pole anbd hit a tree head-on...wow, that's one helluva tally.
Any bets as to the possible alcohol content of the driver's blood?
---And this story, which also takes place on the SE side. Here's the link:
http://wane.com/2017/01/31/apartments-damaged-by-early-morning-fire/
Hey, who be cookin' ribs in dere?
The good old Diplomat Apartments located in the 5500 block of Diplomat Drive around 0315 hrs., were the scene of a fire that spread to 2 other units, causing evacuation of the apartments.
Oddly enough another fire was reported in New Haven (in a nice brick house) a couple hours earlier.
Now, anyone want to wager that someone may have been cooking...at 3 AM?
Seems to be the TNB in such places.
Would not surprise me.
---This last story concerns Canterbury High School and the new security measures it plans to implement. Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/schools/Canterbury-boosts-security-17554653
An ex-student (suspended and later withdrawn) made threats about a "Canterbine" shooting (referencing Columbine, obviously).
(( According to the report, students interviewed told different stories. Some indicated a small group that called itself “The God Squad” was involved, and those students had made statements about white supremacy and “wanting to start a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan at Canterbury,” the police report states.))
Oh, THAT will get the attention of the local police, for sure.
The story says that a parent of the suspended student "was very irate"...now was that irate at their CHILD or at the SCHOOL for suspending the child? The story does not say.
Personally, I'd be pissed at my kid...VERY pissed.
*** Next up, time to leave all the stupid behind, and swing by "Kitten Corner"...
The kids were rather well-behaved, considering how lousy I felt yesterday...almost like having a day off...lol.
And they do always have to "check up" on me throughout the day.
If I go into one room for a while...they will follow and spend some time with "daddy".
When Wifey comes home, it's her turn, of course, but the cats will eventually return to the living room and curl up on my jacket (which, for some reason, has always been a favorite of our former cats.
Nothing like a feline-friendly article of apparel, right?
*** Last back to the microwave...there are few social media venues that I really like...VERY few (as in one).
There used to be this "arena of ideas" that people used to visit, but that was in the days of face-to-face contact, and yes, certain protocols such as civility ruled the day most all the time.
What I find troubling about most ALL of today's electronic and virtual "arena", is that in too many instances, people have this air of anonymity, and that makes them think they have the freedom to act in any way other than civil.
Our 1st Amendment of the Constitution DOES make things clear enough:
(( Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.))
Okay, so the gist of this is simple...NO LAW shall be established as a prohibition...simple, right?
But what about hate speech? What about yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded auditorium?
What people have to realize, is that our rights in such cases have to be contingent upon our BEHAVIOR.
And that means having some level of civility and more importantly...MORALITY.
Let's be more RESPONSIBLE, then.
Those with a modicum of integrity and who have their moral compass pointed in the right direction already KNOW such things, and how NOT to abuse them (like the aforementioned amendment).
But, does this mean that ALL speech is permitted?
Well, that depends on your perspective, relative to whatever venue you find yourself.
Liberals take this to mean that everything IS indeed permitted, and yet choose to STIFLE the speech of others in the process. That's certainly not fair to deny the same rights they all but demand.
We enjoy freedom in our country, but there HAS to be a moral and/or civil caveat, otherwise, you allow people to run rampant and will devolve into what Aristotle called a "Mobocracy".
Our freedom and liberty is a gift, and one which we should always cherish, lest we lose it.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

National Backward day... how appropriate..

WTH did they armed rob at 1300 Minnich? There's literally nothing there?!?

Maybe if the teller said PISS OFF once in a while...

Lot of fires last night. The fire at NH captured units that had just left another blaze...

Canterbury has pretty pampered kids... parents prolly blaming the school for the kids bad behavior, and the kids for the blow to their neighborhood reps.

Pets take care of the ill... Scrappy did an aces job with me last time I was in pain.

I was very civil on social media today... lots of likes, no troll baiting.

Chris:
---Hey, gotta end the month on an "up" note.
---I have no idea, really. The map has nothing there, I agree. Perhaps a cow was carrying a wallet around it's neck?
---I think unless a gun is drawn, PISS OFF! should well be the "greeting" of the day.
---That was an older house, too (nice brick with those tall windows. Damn shame.
---Kinda makes 'ya wonder if schools like Canterbury are seeing thug behavior. I blame the parents and social media for the rapid advance of such behaviors.
---And our pets do that without breaking the bank, too. That's downright amazing.
---LMAO...you're a better person that I could be on FB.
My folks used to say "if you can't say anything nice about someone, don't say anything".
Too many on FB worth saying nothing to, I guess...lol.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting today.

Stay safe (and well-behaved) up there, brother.
