Humpday Happenings...
It's the middle of the rolling week once again, but that doesn't mean we should sit back and coast along.
We're in the midst of holy week, culminating in Easter this Sunday. And, we're also in the midst of the Hebrew celebration of Passover, so things are pretty busy all around.
Our Hooiserland weather for today will see us with a mostly similar day to yesterday with sunny skies, temps reaching to around 62 degrees and no rain in the immediate forecast (that's tomorrow)
So, why don't we all take a few moments to get a nice cup of coffee, tea. or cocoa as we see what has been going on elsewhere, okay?
*** First out of the linen closet is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"Those who forget good and evil and seek only to know the facts are more likely to achieve good than those who view the world through the distorting medium of their own desires."
How true those words are.
This will be a keystone in this post, as well as in future posts, and you'll see why. You may even find it enlightening.
So, WHO said that?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park...
*** Next, it's our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
APRIL 12 -
---It's National Big Wind Day
(I thought we were done with political observances?)
---It's National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day
(ANY day is good for grilled cheese)
---It's National Licorice Day
(Twizzlers anyone?)
---It's National Bookmobile Day
(Good to see that's still around)
Next  up, as always, it's time for some local STUPID.
(be nice to have a couple days off from this, wouldn't it?)
---If you thought the scene of the latest homicide) Blue Diamond strip club) is not on the hook for any of this...think again.
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20170412/strip-club-cited-for-various-violations
Seems the EXCISE POLICE have something to say about this place.
((The violations were allowing a minor to loiter, consumption of alcoholic beverages when times unlawful, failing to clear bar service, being a public nuisance and failing to maintain a high and fine reputation.))
Funny thing...you can't really legislate MORALITY any more than you can legislate STUPIDITY (a damn shame, too).
And these days, people can't be bothered policing THEMSELVES...can they? That creates a wonderful conundrum.
This was interesting as well:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/35128352/business-says-theyve-had-issues-with-bleu-diamond-strip-club-in-the-past
Strained relations...sounds like how I feel in MY part of town, no thanks to the "locals".
---And along those lines, City Council got one of those "rude awakening" scenarios:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20170412/city-council-learns-lessons-from-new-strip-club-opening
A similar "council" with similar results?
((There isn't anything the Fort Wayne City Council can do to prevent a new strip club from opening across the street from Glenbrook Square this week, but several councilmen are using the experience as a learning opportunity to further discourage strip clubs from opening in the city limits.))
Imagine that...they can't do anything. Maybe we should make THAT phrase the city MOTTO?
There seems to be no end to all that the city and it's council CANNOT do, and we certainly know all that they CAN do (especially when it comes to ignorance regarding SE progress and lessening of crime)
A two-edges sword being wielded as a double-standard...that's rather disturbing (and yet not unexpected).
---There seems to be no END to the lousy park jobs that take place around our neighborhood, so you can imagine my amusement when I see crap like THIS:
http://wane.com/2017/04/12/car-stuck-on-steps-to-headwaters-park/
Excuse me...a "suspected" drunk driver? Gee, you THINK?
The good news is the (female) driver walked 1 block to the Allen County jail...LOL.
(only in Fort Wayne, right?)
Police believe alcohol is a factor in the incident. Really? Perhaps it was bad signage. She may have seen a sign that read FINE FOR PARKING, and figured "sure, why not"?
You just cannot make this stuff up.
---And, we had another shooting out by Eden Green last night.
((FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA 21) - Fort Wayne police responded to a shooting at the Eden Greene Apartments on Fort Wayne's south side.
Police confirm a victim was shot in the foot and another person was taken into custody shortly after 10 pm.)) Sounds like black-on-black to me (again). Typical.
*** Next, and leaving the stupid behind us...ever wonder WHY we're seem to be witness to all this EVIL in the world today?
I've been thinking about this of late, and there could be a reason.
I don't think it's the 24/7 news cycle. We've had evil in the world since the human "model" first came out, and some it was pretty damn loathsome
Usually, what I've come to know is that whenever an animal is cornered, it will strike out, and when you have an opponent on the ropes, you don;t want to let YOUR guard down, lest you become the recipient of a desperation right-cross from that opponent and wind up kissing the mat yourself.
THAT is what I believe may be occurring. Evil is desperate, so it's "upping the antes", so to speak.
This isn't to say that everyone is suddenly become good and is forcing evil's hand...not by a long shot.
It's that those people who are truly good (fewer as they may be compared to times past) have upped THEIR game as well, and forcing the hand of evil.
Perhaps the best (and easiest) take on this would be the Dems losing the presidential election.
Those idiots are STILL smarting from that defeat and are pulling out all the stops to deny this president the opportunity to do his job...fighting him at every turn, often with nonsensical PCBS.
This is just "my" views on this, but it may be something worth pondering if you have a little time on your hands.
*** Next up, time to take a peek at what's been going on over at "Kitten Corner"...
It's harder when no one tugs on the other end.
Our little furballs are not getting into near as much trouble these past couple days...always a good thing.
Even their racing through the house is becoming less frequent.
And they're never at a loss for some serious nap-time...or face-rubbing.
Wake me when it's din-din time.
Might try to brush them a little...see how they take to that as well as get them used to it.
I can see for miles and miles...sorta.
At least the squirrels and birds that come by have something to watch...(and be watched).
*** Last back to the towel rack...the world keeps getting more complex every single day.
And to those like myself, who enjoy the security of the familiar, that can be a bitter pill to swallow.
I had envisioned the Midwest as a place where (generally) things are taken at a slower pace than in a major city, and I guess in smaller towns out here, that IS still true.
However, in a place like Fort Wayne, it's become much like a major city in too many of the wrong aspects.
When a once nice neighborhood (like ours) becomes just another part of a growing (and thriving) ghettohood, that speaks volumes as to the (lack of ) concern the city shows toward it's citizens, for what has happened here can (and will be allowed) to happen anywhere else.
That's not the best way to grow a community or even a city.
But, when people are more worried about their legacy than those who were elected to SERVE all the citizens, you have to wonder where the hell their priorities truly lie.
As long as evil has a place to play, it WILL do so, and with great abandon.
Like I said, in days such as these, good has to never let it's guard down for one moment, but rather keep up the attack against evil.
We all need to keep up the good fight, and to not let our attention be diverted.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Thing about the Bleu Diamond deal, I'm betting that this was a) all known about before the shooting and b)prolly are repeat offenses unknown to the media until the bigger story. A dump is a dump is a dump.

It'll be interesting to learn what that young lady blew (alcohol-wise). I'm betting we're going to hear "I don't remember a thing" soon...

Only in FTW... shot in the foot and it ain't self inflicted...

I agree on the desperation storyline. Satan knows his time is running out. I really think we would be having the same dem reaction to anybody/Pence in the White House for exactly that reason. The harder we work to put God in governing, the harder they'll howl for their masters.

Closing: It wasn't ALWAYS like this. Population has seemingly quadrupled since I was a kid, with all the attendant problems. And God help us, I don't think we can run far enough anymore.

Chris:
---Given the past history regarding the manner in which the city "divulges" information, you may have a VERY valid point.
---At least she "remembered" that the JAIL was only a block away...that's gotta say something...lol.
---I know...what bunch of MOOKS!
---Granted we NEVER seemed to have the level of evil that we see today, but it's SURE a lot more than I recall in recent memory.
And yes, with MORE people come MORE problems (amazing how that happens).
Like Steve Rogers said in the first "CAP" movie.
"You start running they never let 'ya stop. You stand up, push back....can't say 'no' forever, right?"
Yes...not enough places to run any longer, and never far enough away to matter as much as you would like..
So, WE stay....THEY go.
Sounds like a plan to me.

Hey, thanks much for stopping on by today and commenting.

Stay safe (and faithful) up there, brother.
