Tuesday Tidbits...
I thought the rain was supposed to be ending by now?
I guess the wet weather likes the state of Indiana more than we know.
Lucky us, right?
The rain has kept the loudasses from shaking the neighborhood for the most part.
Now that IS lucky (for us).
Our Hoosierland weather for today will be windy, with rain showers and mostly cloudy skies (might have the sun peek through now and then).
The high for today will only be going up to around 53 degrees (sounds comfortable enough).
Let's ease into the day with a nice cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, as we take a look at what's going on elsewhere...
*** First out of the house is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MAY 2 -
---It's National Foster Care Day
(given the nature of some people, a much needed service for children)
---It's National Life Insurance Day
(comes in handy when you die...kinda weird how that works)
---It's National Truffle Day
(very yummy indeed)
*** Next, and since it is once again a Tuesday, let's see ALL the FWPD calls that the media never told us about, and that we couldn't HEAR about because some idiot thought it good to encrypt the radio frequencies, so we can no longer monitor the police band when crime comes to our neighborhood.

*** Next up, some GOOD news in the wonderful world of criminal activity.
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/courts/20170502/gunman-sentenced-to-110-years
Yes, the "Sultan of Stupid", one Hozyfa Sultan, age 25, has managed to piss away the rest of his sorry-ass life when he was sentenced to
110 years in prison.
Naturally, he plans to appeal (good luck with that).
((Surbeck sentenced Sultan to 60 years for murder, 35 years for attempted murder and 15 years for using a gun in a crime. He ordered the sentences be served back to back for a total of 110 years.))
Now THAT sounds about right to me...one less violent and dangerous asshole on our streets.
Only have several hundred more to go...heh.
*** Next, I want to reprint a Letter to the Editor that just struck a nice chord with me:
===========================
Rights Bestowed By God
The author of the sarcastic March 28 letter dismissed my “Too many rights (March 14)” as “the most ridiculous letter I have ever read.” Then, he went on to demean President Donald Trump as “Supreme Leader,” supported by “fascist flunkies.”
One might assume he belongs to the self-righteous left. As such, he has nothing to contribute to our understanding of “fake rights” or our need to eliminate them as constitutionally irrelevant and socially destructive. Let me try again to reach him and those who agree with him.
As an American, I believe that the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are bestowed on us by the creator. But the right to pursue happiness cannot be exercised apart from common decency. Any liberty that deprives others of their legitimate privileges is not a right, but a sin or crime. And life that justifies misleading people with personal lies or fake news demeans the common good and the divine will.
Natural rights from God are implemented with sound thinking and proper behavior. Other rights are little more than convenient fictions. They may be politically useful or serve as excuses for depravity and villainy. It just depends.
John Ribar
Fort Wayne
=======================
Thank you John...YOU "get it".
*** Next up,  a little stopover at "Kitten Corner"...
I found out that Violet likes to play a little too roughly, especially when you try and rub her belly.
(yeah, got scratched...it happens).
Gallifrey doesn't seem to mind as much...but both come to you and want their necks rubbed.
Other than that, a pretty good day, and one which had them watching another cat.
The black one (Midnight) stopped by and was licking at an empty dish. I went out (and it ran away as usual) and put more dry food in the dish.
Well, Midnight came right back, and even allowed me to get within a couple feet and get a picture of him (he's pretty big for a female, I'm guessing).
He meows, too, and hung around for a good hour before he left.
Looks like we have a regular visitor now (again), and we'll put food out as long as he needs it.
God knows there are many days when it's not fit to be outside.
Who knows...there may come a time when Midnight manages to find a good, permanent home.
*** Last back to the garage...The History Channel had a really good 2-part show on last evening - Superheroes Decoded, and it was a nice homage to something that has been truly AMERICAN in nature.
It chronicled the history of comic book superheroes from the days of Superman, Batman, Captain America and Wonder Woman, right up to Spiderman, Hulk, Iron Man, The Fantastic Four, X-Men, as well as the comic book industry and it's impact on our nation.
There were a few points where I disagreed with the writers of the show (they could have phrased a few things differently), but overall, it was a well put together program (4 hours in length total).
A modern mythology, complete with the two sides of mankind's persona - light and dark.
It showed how writers of comics brought into perspective these heroes' reactions to our changing times in this country (and the world), and even mentioned the McCarthy era attempt to call comic books a major influence on juvenile delinquency. That was a laugh. Didn't make ME one.
(Try a more permissive society as the cause, thanks to a leftist agenda counter-culture)
Fredric Wertham's book, Seduction of the Innocent was quoted by (host) Brad Meltzer. It was Wertham who was behind the reason that the Comics Code Authority being enacted.
Talk about a real wet-blanket upon childhood.
Today, we've "evolved" beyond mere comics (the prices ALONE demonstrate that much) into graphic novels (no comics code required?), and how these superheroes continue to be an integral part of our growing up (well, for some of us). Joseph Campbell would smile.
Still, I miss the days of real comic books, but the values found within all those costumed heroes lives on, especially in the movies.
Then again I miss the days when people wanted to conform to better lives and better values.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Truffles! I hear they discovered five new species of truffle up in Maine last week...but that's not the good kind. Not even good ones of the OTHER kind, I understand.

H Sultan- and prolly stupid enough that he STILL thinks it was worth it...

John Ribar sadly ran into one of the too-common agendists out there (Note to spellcheck: I like the word agendists, I will continue to use the word agendists, so cease your endless red squiggling!). In fact, a friend of Jessica's posted a thing on FB today saying that he has to "think too much". I told him, "Become a liberal. They don't require it."

Getting scratched- Once upon a time we had around 12 kittens hanging out in our garage, and the way I played with them it was mid-winter before all the scratch scabs went away.

I never was quite sure what it was in being for "truth, justice, and the American way" that was so JD to them...

Chris:
---Nah, gimme the CAKEY truffles only...they can keep the rest.
---I keep telling everyone...that's their problem...THEY THINK (or at least make a vain attempt).
---I hope when John ran into them, he BACKED UP and then ran into them AGAIN...LOL.
(it's what I usually do)
Yeah, leftards DON'T think (that's why they make such good criminals...like Sultan)...HA!
---Scratches I can live with. Gnawing off a limb...not so much.
---Yeah, can you believe that? I tell you, there are times when I wonder WTH these people are putting in their Koo-Aid (and,it was such a big seller back in the 50s).
Still, the 2-part show was worth a watch...Lord knows we need to see ourselves for what we are, and more importantly, what we can become when it pertains to That AMERICAN way.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by and comment.

Stay safe (and drying out) up there, brother.
