Tuesday Tidbits...
Now that was a very nice day yesterday (weather-wise), but not without a few bumps in the road.
You're gonna love that story.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly to mostly cloudy skies, temps reaching to around 73 degrees, and a chance of light rain (uh oh) early on (most north). Got some scattered showers in the afternoon, however, so plan ahead.
We begin another day here in the Ghettoland Abusement Park and Discount House of Street Pharmaceuticals.
(wonder what the local morons have in store?)
Let's not permit that (or any rain) to dampen our resolve however, so let's all get that morning drink, as we see what's been going on elsewhere...
*** First off of the rooftop is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MAY 23 -
---It's National Lucky Penny Day
(I could use a truckload of 'em...if I believed that sorta thing)
---It's National Taffy Day
(another thing I miss from back east - salt water taffy at the shore)
*** Next up, time to take a look at ALL the police calls that we should be hearing about, but are not, because the media is too busy wondering with president Trump is up to overseas...

*** Next, yes, we have ANOTHER shooting in Fort Wayne.
Here's what's known (and it's not much):
This took place just before midnight (the time and not our homeless cat) at the Motel 6 near the corner of W. Coliseum Blvd and Goshen Rd.
Police found a man in the parking lot in serious condition.
He was transported to hospital.
A car parked next to the motel had bullet holes in the windshield and police recovered shell casings nearby the Liberty Diner. That's all that's known for now.
Guess they'll STILL "keep the light on"...so shooters can get a better target?
*** Next up, Late last week I hear some guy on the radio touting what a nice city Indy was...vital downtown, blah, blah, blah, so imagine my look when I heard about THIS story:
http://www.indystar.com/story/news/crime/2017/05/22/indycar-drivers-dixon-franchitti-robbed-sunday-west-side-taco-bell/336040001/
Helluva drive-through.
Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti robbed at gunpoint at a west side Taco Bell?
It's true, but the robbers were caught a short time later.
Thank surveillance video for that one. Good job by Indy Metro Police.
*** Next, while we're talking video, here's a screen capture of two men who MAY be connected with the shooting  death of a school coach (who was just taking out the trash):
(( IDs sought for 2 near slaying scene
The Fort Wayne Police Department is asking for public assistance to identify two people shown in surveillance photographs near the site of a homicide May 19 in the 900 block of Francis Street.
Terrance Miles, a North Side High School assistant football coach, was found shot to death shortly after midnight.
Anyone who can identify the two should call Crime Stoppers at 436-7867 or the lead detective at 427-2326.))
*** Next up, Manchester (England) was not the place to be yesterday.
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/world/20170523/blast-at-ariana-grande-concert-in-england-kills-19-people
Twenty-two (at last count) people killed in what is being called a terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert. The blast happened outside the concert area,
Not to make light of this, but attending one of her concerts would be painful ENOUGH for me.
*** Next, a pretty good OP-ED column in today's J-G:
http://www.journalgazette.net/opinion/editorials/20170523/undebatable
The writer of the column seems to support the left, but the person quoted in the column, Rev. John Jenkins, Notre Dame's president takes the high road here...
Leftards-in-training?
((“Speaking only to the like-minded, we question first the motives and then the character of those who differ,” Jenkins said. When that happens, “we dismiss an opponent's views before taking time to listen and understand. ... Our public life then is no longer a collective effort to serve the common good, but a bitter fight to vanquish opponents.”))
How true. Very well stated, Rev.
*** Next, another installment of "Why I Hate These Effin Primate Neighbors"...
Oh, they also broke a chain-link fence Sunday, too.
Okay, so last evening the "kidz" were out and about, running all over, tossing rocks into the intersection, and then dashing into their back yard to keep from being seen (or caught). Basketball got boring, I guess (for a while).
Rock-tossers all.
I was watching to make sure none of those rocks found their way to OUR house.
Later on (near dark), they were coming back from being down the block, and one black kid comes right up to our front door, to which I pulled out my spotlight and "lit him up".
Well, he took the hell off like he was shot from a cannon (a good idea in and of itself), and ran across the street (no cars were coming, lucky for him). I also went out and told the kids off. One big mouth wanted to know "youacop?" I said what's it to you? Persistent little snot wanted to know. I said "you'll find out when the cops get here".
This kinda shit pisses me off - no respect for their "elders"...or ANY form of authority.
At their age, I would never have dreamed of sassing back an adult (that's an ass-whoopin' for sure)...not these little thugs-in-training. They're brought up to not be respectful and yet all but demand respect from everyone else.
Bullshit!
From 15 Finds Out - 2014
Anyway, I call the cops, and an officer rolls up close to an hour later (I told dispatch this was an harassment call), and officer Jason Anthony showed up. That's right, the 3rd shift P.I.O for the department.
We talked at length about the situation, I found out  (in our city) that a 12-year old is "old enough: to "supervise" other siblings, and that's very disturbing to know (and explains a LOT of the shit that goes on across the street), but decided against having him go to their house and talking to the kids and baby-mama (for now). In other words, we turned the other cheek...THIS time.
But...there will be NO SECOND CHANCES. These kids do anything to bother us, they get a visit from the FWPD, and that includes doing anything to our house.
*** Next, let's stop by and see what's going on at "Kitten Corner"...
Getting in some "window-time".
Our cats were not THAT crazy yesterday, and were on their best behavior when the officer arrived. That's good to know.
The crazies go in spurts, but I would love to get them into a routine where they sleep more at night, rather than during the day. There's a challenge waiting to happen...lol..
*** Next up, time to visit our "Tales of Midnight"...
Lounging where it's safe.
I think our homeless buddy is glad the rain is over...he stayed nearby most ALL day and well into the evening (thankfully, he stayed away from those kids across the street. They'd toss rocks at him and probably kill him...and think it's "fun".
The shady spot is MUCH better.
Thing is, he gets into the garage over there through a hole in the door. I just hope he has the sense to leave before the tribe comes out to "play". I do worry about him.
*** Last back to the basement...people can say what they will about today. I'm not impressed.
We're lousy with tech, all these modern improvements meant to make life better.
Sorry, that's wrong; not better, just easier.
And society has followed right in line...looking for the EASIER rather than the better when it comes to behavior patterns.
With such thinking comes a mindset replete with a "path of least resistance".
That often means people will sacrifice decent values and principles for things like their desires - what makes them "feel good". Not a great way to go through life, but it's damn sure an EASY one.
When we, as a society stop and find out that all the molly-coddling, and hand-holding isn't doing anyone any damn good, and in fact, hampering our psychological and yes, spiritual development, the better off we ALL will be.
That's NOT easy to acquire, but then again, nothing of REAL value in life ever is, right?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Okay, so I was running a scan that just deleted my ENTIRE comment... let's try this again...

That California rd call is the retirement apartments. Sounds like the old folks are trying to shut down the alarms at the fire station, lol!

As long as they get that Motel 6 target practice wrapped before I roll past at 0540...

Indy: Why I stay the hell away from there. Tourist trap, indeed...

Coach: Hope the coward he was likely trying to help mans up.

Manchester: I never knew AG sets were such a blast... I see they actually have both an ID and a further arrest. Should help Theresa May and her Brexit strategy.

UND: Fine fricking Catholics. Were I Pope, I'd have the heads of every faculty member that encouraged them on a platter. And Georgetown would be HUD housing, but that's another thing.

I'm assuming you found the collection that called "gun control" on you last night. Kids these days make me sick. Me and Scrappy were coming back from a walk the other day, through the nice residences of Woodlands of Riverside, when I heard a 7-10 year old boy tell his mom, "STFU, Bitch"- twice. My kid would have been finishing the second exclamation from the ground, coughing up teeth. Moments later, behind their fence now, I heard little big mouth say, "But I don't want to mom!" No crying or loud bangs though, and I guarantee you any child of mine would have been making BOTH sounds.

"Sleep more at night"... Bob, you're so precious sometimes...

I got no farther than "tech" in the closer and my button turned red. My machine has been losing its mind for two weeks now, and last Thursday we had simultaneous meltdowns in which I damn near gathered my pictures and went home. So they get a guy who half-assed knows what he's doing to come in, and he sets it mostly right. A couple of unwanted problems surfaced Monday, though, and they had this dude in Missouri that is supposed to be smarter than Christ and Einstein combined remote in to "fix the settings". Long story short, he doesn't get with guy #1 to see why he did what he did, just sets things his way, and makes things twice as bad. Our in-plant person undid all of genius's work, and still isn't near as good as it was, though I'm no longer quite as fearful of meltdown #2. Our guy is trying to talk the powers that be into having the manufacturer come out- but at five figures for a lousy service call, I'm sure we'll have to have every means of cutting fabric broken before he succeeds.

Chris:
---Bob's rule of dealing with computers #42:
NEVER do ANYTHING else when running a scan (at least NOT on the computer itself).
I learned the HARD (drive) way.
---Leave it some of my "contemporaries" to do crazy stuff like that at the home.
---We can hope. The mooks are usually in the sack by 4AM (problem is, they awake at 11AM and start all over again).
---I was there twice. Once in Center City (not impressed...like Philly a lot.
Second time was at the track (all day) for a NASCAR qualifying...toured the museum...now THAT was the best part (for me).
---I hope so, too. the black community needs to break that "code of silence" BS.
---Yeah. The bomber was a British "citizen"...how he got radicalized is something EVERY free nation needs to look (deeply) into before more trouble occurs.
---Oh, you mean Georgetown the university and NOT the area near D.C. right?
A few excommunications WOULD be in orde5r, that's for sure.
---I'd just like THEIR Circadian Rhythm and MY Circadian rhythm to be in some kind of "Circadian synchronicity", that's all...heh.
---Smatter than CHRIST AND EINSTEIN? I'd actually pay cash money to SEE that person.
FIVE figures (more than likely WITHOUT a decimal point) for a bloody SERVICE CALL?
WTF???
They design and build a machine that NO ONE can figure the hell out?
Sounds like that A.I. "takeover" might be closer than any of us can imagine. We will be SO screwed.

Thanks much for carrying the blog by stopping by to comment.

Stay safe (with no meltdowns) up there, brother.
