Tuesday Tidbits...
If you didn't get your fill of rainfall last week, and are wanting just a little more, then today might work out for you.
Kinda makes you want to back up and do yesterday again.
All the local rivers have crested and are now in the process of receding.
Our Hoosierland weather for today bring us mostly cloudy skies, a good chance of scattered rain showers through most of the day, tapering off by evening, and a high of around 55 degrees.
Remember, it can always be worse (and that worse typically happens when the idiots wake the hell up...heh)
Now, what say we all get a nice cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa to chase that nip in the air awy, as we see what's been going on elsewhere...
*** First off of the front steps is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MAY 9 -
---It's National Sleepover Day
(that happens all too often around our area, and with ADULTS looking for a crib for the night)
---It's National Butterscotch Brownie Day
(never had any, but they looks pretty good)
---It's National Lost Sock Memorial Day
(a "memorial" for socks? What's the world coming to, anyway?)
---It's National Moscato Day
(it's a wine thing...no "whining" allowed, though)
---It's National Teacher Appreciation Day
(underpaid AND under-appreciated, yet they STILL choose to educate our children...amazing)
---And I forgot, but a belated Happy V-E Day (yesterday)...totally got past me.
It's been 72 years.
Sorry about that one, folks.
*** Next up, time to take a look at all those FWPD calls we were not told about that happened last week, because to ignore a problem always makes it go away...NOT!!!

Guess two assholes can't tell one month (May) from another (July)?
*** Next, a FWCS bus take an "unexpected" detour. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20170509/fwcs-bus-struck-crashes-into-home
This took place around 0915 hrs at Broadway near Home Ave., when the bus was struck by a speeding car.
The bus wound up into the front porch of a nearby house, which had to be condemned when the porch collapsed after the bus was extracted.
Fortunately, there were no children on the bus.
The driver of the car has been cited (check his BAC as well).
Seems a might EARLY to be that stupid, doesn't it?
The house was occupied, but the people there were in the back of the house at the time of the crash (lucky for them).
*** Next up, a memorial in Chicago provides a chance for gang members to shoot more people. Here's that story:
http://wtvr.com/2017/05/08/10-people-shot-chicago/
Police believe they know who may be involved, and that the gang Satan's Disciples (folks - rivals to Latin Kings) is most likely responsible. Safe to say those involved were Hispanic.
The shooting at the makeshift memorial were for a man killed there hours before.
Two people were killed and ten others wounded in the melee that happened at the memorial.
Police say that AK and AR-style rifles were used in this shooting, and that gang members (there) are becoming more heavily-armed.
(that can't be a good thing, especially for law-enforcement).
Just wait until the Latinos and Blacks start going at it (like they do in southern California.
*** Next, time to take a break from the mayhem and visit "Kitten Corner"...
Violet loves those pieces of clothesline
Yesterday, the kids were going through their "nine-o-clock crazies", and were chasing one another through the house. I had just place my bowl of oatmeal down and was returning to the kitchen when they BOTH ran smack into my legs. Would have knocked a toddler over.
Needless to say I raised my voice over that, because had I been carrying that bowl, it would have wound up on the carpeting.
"I iz all calmed down now."
After that, they calmed down for the remainder of the day.
A little loud chiding does go a long way around here. And, it made the evening so much better for all.
*** Next up, it's time to take in another "Tales of Midnight"...
Posing with the posies.
Well, I managed to mow the back yard yesterday afternoon, and he wasn't bothered in the least. I figured with him being shy with people, power mower might scare him off. He seems comfortable being nearby, as he waits right up against the house in the morning to get fed, and then hangs around all day.
",,,zzzz..."
Birds can still get at the feeder, and a few even came to ground feed when Midnight dozed off by the hose reel...lol.
Now's our chance, boys...let's eat.
I hope the kids in the area don't try to harm him in any way...most of them seem to love tossing rocks and sticks.
(sounds so damn Cro-Magnon to me)
As long as he stays around the "Fortress", he'll always have a meal...and a couple friends.
*** Last off of the back steps...seeing to the needs of God's creatures is rewarding in many ways.
It's the whole "doing to the smallest of my creatures is doing unto me" kinda deal.
You (should) live by example, so you'd best make that example a GOOD one, right?
Well, many people seem to have a problem with what seems like such a formidable task to them.
Rather than do the simple things, which many times can become second-nature, they prefer to over complicate their lives with the pursuit of anything else, much of which is relatively unattainable anyway.
And naturally, with ANY action in life, there are results or consequences, both good and bad.
That's where a lot of people go of the rails.
Rather than take a proven path i life, they choose not a road less traveled, but one that too many plod along, cursing everything and everyone along the way.
Somehow, I don't think that's what life should be about, but some people have to find things out for themselves.
I prefer the challenges life brings, rather than going out of MY way to seek more problems and always looking for an "easy" way out of those problems. Finding a little solace now and then never hurt anyone.
And that's why (usually) the LEAST of God's creatures will always get the MOST attention from me.
They don't ask for it, and certainly never demand it...yet always seem to appreciate it.
Another life lesson humans can learn from the "lesser" among us...
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Ouch that school bus accident was very unfortunate. Dumbass speeders. Love your kitty pics. They look pretty happy. And the squirrels are getting fatter unless you have wide angle lenses. Happy Tuesday!

---Yeah, I told Wifey that the FWCS has got to find better ways to replace buses that are getting old. Didn't have much damage (they do build them strong).
---Glad you enjoy the kitty pics. Don't see many squirrels around, because of "Midnight", though.
The birds get to eat their seed now...heh.

Thanks for rolling up today and commenting.

Stay safe (and dry with a glass of Moscato) down there, dear.

I'd like to sleep over... but my alarm mysteriously moved BACK 8 minutes this weekend...

V-E note: Back in the day, when I was a little bitty researcher, we had a set of Colliers encyclopedias, including yearbooks from 1953-64. The WWII article had color plates for the surrender, so to little bitty me deduces that the war had to have ended in the era of color film- which, in our household, was around 1964. Never did find those missing 20 years, lol!

"Seems a might EARLY to be that stupid, doesn't it?" Nah, just late going home...

"“We have a fairly good idea who we’re looking for. We have a fairly good idea of the conflict involved and where we need to be deployed,” Ryan said."... and yet, it happened...

"Oatmeal cleanup on Aisle K..."

Great ending. Makes one feel bad about calling the Chi-town gangers animals...

Chris:
---We had a sleepover once...a Christian group I was in...talk about never-ending LEMONADE...!
We stayed awake long enough for our trumpeter in the group to play Reveille as the sun came up...then we ALL sacked out. (and not one bit of impropriety).
Those were the days!
---I hear 'ya when it came to COLOR.
We didn't get a color set until the very late 60s. But dad knew color film...we just didn't often have the MONEY to buy it OR get it developed...heh.
---Yes, that's GOTTA be it...!
---It never ceases to AMAZE me how that keep occurring, right?
---Those who call such vermin "animals" ARE doing a disservice to the lesser forms on that kingdom.
Let's just call 'em all STREET SCUM...how's that?
(too NON-PC? GOOD!!!)

Thanks for dropping by to comment.

Stay safe (and get that walk w/ Scrappy in) up there, brother.
