Humpday Happenings...
It's the middle of the week once again.
And I'll be having another bout of "bacheloritis" (Bob's lexicon) as Wifey treks down to Vincennes to visit her dad for his birthday.
No worries...I've got my cats, my Bible and my guns...heh.
So, as long as the "locals" refrain from pissing me off, we'll make out just fine.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly sunny skies, temps topping out around 85 degrees, and a rise in humidity in anticipation to showers rolling through later tonight.
Sounds like fun, depending on your definition of the word.
Now, let's get this day started with whatever form of "go-juice" is your preference (I'm using high-octane coffee myself, extra sweet with hazelnut creamer), as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the fridge is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find that after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us."
This is the type of quote that provides inspiration and hope, and no matter where we happen to find ourselves, we can embrace such concepts with boldness.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the English Literature Department of Stanford University...
*** Next up, time to bring you the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JULY 26 -
---It's National Aunt and Uncle's Day
(have to say at my age, they're getting a tad sparse)
---It's National Bagelfest Day
(I just might toast me one up for breakfast...or lunch)
---It's National Coffee Milkshake Day
(now for me, that's the best of BOTH worlds...lol)
*** Next, here's an update to the downtown BK shooting:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/35969174/police-attack-on-restaurant-workers-was-crime-of-opportunity
It's amazing how well all this downtown development is proceeding, and how much better it's becoming for citizens working there...oh wait, it's NOT.
WTH happened to this initiative? Not safe to leave work after closing?
Sure, the FWPD said this was a crime of opportunity, but then again, isn't EVERY such robbery?
And, since a suspect description is not available, any bets as to the ethnicity of the shooter?
My guess is he's black, because in times past, they like to wait for people opening or closing businesses around town.
*** Next up, and speaking of (black) crime in the city, there's this little gem:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20170726/drugs-ammo-found-in-home-on-broadway
Yep, this type of stuff has made it's way over to the Broadway corridor now.
There goes that neighborhood.
Jones - LOSER!
Still, it was a good bust by the local constabulary.
Three people were arrested, with the "ringleader", one Kevin J. Jones, 21, being charged with misdemeanor possession of a synthetic drug/lookalike substance, police said.
((Police said they found about 12 grams of  Spice, cocaine residue, marijuana residue, a bottle of a Schedule 4 controlled substance, multiple rounds of ammunition for a .223 rifle, 9 mm pistol and 12-gauge shotgun, multiple magazines for both rifles and pistols, multiple baggies with Spice residue and more than $700 in cash.))
One word: JACKPOT!
How much you wanna bet this perp ONLY gets less than 7 years?
*** Next, Fort Wayne is NOT on the short list of MOST EDUCATED CITIES...even with ME living here (along with Wifey, Chris, and Laurie)...lol.
Hey, I can't speak for others, but I can't do it all...even I have my limits.
Here's the story:
https://wallethub.com/edu/most-and-least-educated-cities/6656/
Ann Arbor, MI is number 1? That's a real surprise.
Fort Wayne ranked 108 (out of 150)...(should NOT come as a surprise)
We're nestled in between Davenport-Moline-Rock Island, IA-IL (107) and San Antonio-New Braunfels, TX (109)
Philly was 44, Columbus, OH was 34.
And I left both of those places to move to Fort Wayne?
WTF was I thinking?
I hope Wifey appreciates my "sacrifice"...lol.
I know the city doesn't...and it shows.
*** Next up, time to drop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
Wasn't too bad a day yesterday...the bouts of "spazmosity" (Bob's lexicon) were smaller, so I can expect both Violet and Gallifrey to behave themselves while "mommy" is away for a few days.
Let's hope this trend continues, and that they manage to pass along some of that excess energy to ME...I can use it...heh.
*** Next, let's see what's going on with "Midnight and Company"...
Not your average garden statuary.
Whiskers (aka Honey, Sandy or Cinnamon...take yer pick) is always at the door early,. ready for food, and Midnight comes from across the street to greet me.
What he finds fascinating over there eludes me, but as long as he keeps coming back...not a worry.
He did disappear for most ALL the day yesterday, and with the local kids out in the afternoon, I tend to worry about his safety.
This morning, he was right outside waiting for food...
We also have our first MONARCH caterpillar...next stop - chrysalis.
"I'm gonna be a butterfly"
That's a pretty cool thing to see on the milkweed plants (and about time, too).
*** Last back to the toaster oven...educated is one thing...being smart is another, right?
The thing is, there are no kudos or awards for personal growth or certificates of self-taught erudition.
No diploma awarded for graduating the "College of hard Knocks".
And while that's not fair (to people like myself), it is the way things work.
Yet, many people spend the time and money to go through higher education and when they get out of college, they know less than I do (with only one year in a business college).
My advantage is that I'm not afraid of learning and enjoy the experience.
Dad used to say that "The day you stop learning is the day you die.".
He was always right along those lines.
Take a look back at history and see ALL the education people used to get and how learned many of them became, you wonder why we (today) have gotten away from that.
Well, back then, people HAD to learn...they required it OF THEMSELVES.
In other words, they were a lot more self-reliant.
And, when we take our journey through life, relying upon oneself makes that journey have a lot more meaning.
Relatives will pass away. Friends and acquaintances come and go, but YOU are pretty much stuck with you for your entire life. I think God wanted it that way for a reason.
He is always with us...in case we stumble or lose our way.
And when we learn to help ourselves (through faith in His guidance) it better prepares us for helping others.
The world would be a much better place if such a basic premise was practiced more often, wouldn't it?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Hump day. Is it Friday yet? Looks like the Fort is still popping and hopping. I do have to say this: Keep it up north. LOL. Your cats are personality. I love your caterpillar pic. Show worthy.

---Friday is a'comin'...I promise.
---Yeah, FTW is after all (according to our reigning king/mayor) "A point of destination".
For some, it's a FINAL destination.
For others, it's just a stopover on the way to jail.
---I hope the cats don't like to eat caterpillars...that would be "awkward".
A show-worthy picture? Well bust my buttons!

Thanks for rolling up today and commenting.
I really appreciate it.

You take care & stay safe down there, dear.

Sorry for not having a real lucid comment... still in shock that we avoided major disasters today on a scale like yesterday. Saw yer caterpillar on FB, so cool!

Enjoy the run of the house! You should tear across the kitchen , maybe climb a drape or two...

BTW, I think I will be doing a little analyzing of that education list in a bit...

Chris:
---When it comes to lucidity, I'd wager your SNORING (if you do that sorta thing) would make TONS more sense than a lot of people's reasoning.
---That caterpillar is something to look forward to.
(he's moved, but still there)
---"tear across the kitchen - climb a drape or two"...ROFL!
(yeah, like that's gonna happen...but it would be "fun" if I had THAT kinda adeptness these days)
Guess I'll have to settle for AMBLING across the kitchen and PARTING the drapes to see outside.
---I look forward with anticipation to YOUR take on the ED-CITY thingy. Should bring a few smiles to me.

Thanks for taking some time to stop on by to comment.

Stay safe (and mind the oncoming rain) up there, brother.
