Humpday Happenings...
Once again we meet at our all too familiar mod-week crisis we call Wednesday.
And, we're going to have a very mixed bag of weather coming our way (well, it IS Indiana).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly cloudy skies (nice sunrise), temps reaching to around 50 degrees and a chance of rain later on this evening, which is predicted to turn over to snow before morning.
That's fine, I remember having snow in May back in Philly.
Now, let's chase the morning chill away with a hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, as we see what's been going on elsewhere...
*** First out of the shower is our "WHO SAID THAT?" quote for the week:
"There is a massive apparatus within the United States government that with complete secrecy has been building this enormous structure that has only one goal, and that is to destroy privacy and anonymity, not just in the United States, but around the world."
Amazing how other people also notice things going on that we knew had been happening for a while, isn't it?
Nice to know we're not THAT alone.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at Lauderdale Lakes, Florida...
*** Next, time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
APRIL 18 -
---It's National Columnists Day
(still have a few left worth reading)
---It's National Lineman Appreciation Day
(is that one from Wichita still on the line?)
---It's National Animal Crackers Day
(aren't they actually small COOKIES. Calling them crackers is "racist"...lol)
*** Next up,  another stabbing in Fort Wayne. Here's the link:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/04/17/victim-reports-to-fort-wayne-police-he-was-stabbed-by-wife-at-hallmark-inn/
Funny, I never had such dealing with my ex...then again, it depends on the person's character and ability to practice something we call REASON.
And when reason fails...you just walk the hell away.
*** Next, the 14 year old who was shot in the head has died. Here's the story:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/04/17/teen-shot-by-14-year-old-in-fort-wayne-has-died/
Why would another teen bring a loaded gun over to the house before "going to church"?
When we were that age, we NEVER thought of such crap, and who winds up living a lot longer as a result of making that decision?
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20180418/family-mourns-slain-teen
There are times when you just shake your head in disbelief (that people can actively be that stupid). This is our 15th homicide this year.
It was a totally avoidable situation, adn now, we have another teenager who ruined his young life.
*** Next up, I thought I'd let you see the rap sheet of our 14th homicide victim, one Ashton Shawn Bright:

Just wanted to let you all know he wasn't an angel, either.
Been on the FWPD radar since he was 19.
*** Next, and you thought Allegiant Airlines had problems?
Here's the story on the Southwest Airliner that had an uncontaained catastrophic engine failure:
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/southwest-airlines-flight-emergency-landing-today-2018-04-17-live-stream-updates/
One woman has died as a result of the injuries sustained when a window blew from engine shrapnel. So much for the nacelle covers managing to contain any turbine blade failure.
The plane was just checked out this past Sunday.
Odd thing about metal fatigue...one minute, everything's perfectly normal, and the next, it all comes apart.
Check out the movie "No Highway In The Sky" (1951) with Jimmy Stewart if you get the chance. This will provide some back story and is a decent flick.
The novel was written by Nevil Shute, who also wrote On The Beach (which was also made into another good movie.).
*** Next up, time to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
The patio door is a BIG window.
Another pretty good day with the "kids".
Gallifrey loves his window-watching gig...keeps him busy (and tires him out with all the windows toi choose from as he watches the world go by...lol).
Playing "peek-a-boo".
Violet is happy with just taking things a bit easier, and finding a place to play in those grocery bags.
Good thing about family pets...they never handle firearms that can go off accidentally and kill someone.
*** Next, time to check in with "Midnight and Company"...
I much prefer when food comes to ME.
Our furry twosome were close by yesterday, given the weather conditions early on. Later in the afternoon, I managed to catch a glimpse of Whiskers, as she dashed from behind the house across the street, never stopping until she cam up our lawn and back onto our patio. I'll say one thing - she CAN run when she has to.
Wait...was that another bird?
Midnight just stayed close by, watching this one tree alongside our house. There has to be birds in it. At least he didn't see the woodpecker on the tree out front (yet).
*** Last back to the sink...former first lady, Barbara Bush has passed away at the age of 92.
I mean, we pretty much knew this was coming, so no real surprise here. but I have to say I enjoyed her tenure as first lady.
She had this wonderful "aunt-like" quality to her. And, she was the second woman who was BOTH wife and mother to a president. Abigail Adams was the first.
Here is her WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Bush
Now I said all that to say this - we all have to come to grips with mortality, sooner or later.
This becomes more of an issue when we begin to realize we have more years BEHIND us than in front of us.
Life is too precious a thing to waste, and we need to make as many moments count as we can, because we can never get them back.
I think that's a good lesson for anyone to learn, at any age.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I wish that apparatus would start with my blog, so I had more readers...

I think most of the columnists I ever followed are dead now...

Lineman appreciation- I wouldn't mention that one in Puerto Rico today...

"...And when reason fails...you just walk the hell away..." and never, EVER take them to the Hallmark Inn...

Head dead: Oh, but that's part of the A-A "culture" now. To poo-poo that is more racist than animal crackers.

"Good thing about family pets...they never handle firearms that can go off accidentally and kill someone." How are they on knives? Asking for a British muslim "friend"...

Amen on the closing. Unfortunately Hollywood has convinced people life is cheap.

Chris:
---Careful what you wish for...you just might get it...heh.
---Yeah, gotta agree. We're losing the good ones and what's coming up isn't worth my time (in many cases).
---No, they STILL can't get things set to rights (and I wonder HOW MUCH $$$ has been dumped THERE).
---Oh, that's a GIVEN in THIS city...lol.
--- No one has said WHO that gun belonged to yet, have they?
---With no opposing "thumbs", I think most items are safe for us (for the time being).
---Yeah, talk about speaking outta BOTH sides of their wealthy, privileged mouths...right?
That's the LEFT for 'ya.

Thanks for swinging on by today to comment.

Stay safe (and dry again) up there, brother.
