It certainly is always nice to not have to run the central air constantly. And, it's also nice to walk outside in the pre-dawn morning and not feel so damn much humidity. Guess that (brief) rain we had yesterday did something good.
Looks like we have a break in all this mugginess.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us sunny skies (maybe a few clouds by afternoon) temps rising to around 83 degrees, and no precipitation. A more comfortable day for man and beast.

The Phil's One Stop (up north) was robbed back on 15 July around  0400 hrs.
Two black males tossed a rock through the door and stole 15 packs of Newport Gold Menthols.
I must say that Phil's has some GOOD closed circuit security cameras.

Oh, and these numbnuts stole 15 packs, NOT cartons of NEWPORTS.
I wouldn't need a video of the perps to know the ethnicity given what was taken from the store...lol. Some things (and people) are just TOO damn predictable.
*** Next, here's an easy trick to "foil" car thieves (from Monday's J-G):

Another case of technology working against us...but with a simple NON-technological solution (for the time being).
Wrapping your vehicle's (electronic) key fob in tin foil can keep a hacker from stealing any codes from the transmitter.
Think of it as a poor man's FARADAY CAGE (look that up for what that is).
And, if you think this is something "new", nope, sorry. Here's a story from 2015:

Today's cars have this "keyless entry" feature which basically means you car is waiting for a signal from the key fob.
That's an open invite to thieves with legally bought tech which can read the fob signal and then gain access to your vehicle.
I know...technology bites us in the ass yet again, but car makers ARE working (read scrambling) on a better and permanent solution to this.
(I won't be holding MY breath, but I will keep the tin foil handy)

Tremane L. Scott, 29, has become homicide #26 for the year.
Back on 15 May, Michelle Lee Funk-Pike, 47, of Las Vegas, was found dead in a motel room out on the 1000 block of W. Coliseum and was finally declared homicide # 25.
At this rate, we "could" set another record, because we are on track to hit FIFTY by year's end.

I agree that some sort of debate needs to be made, but was that sign really that far "off base", given our freedom of speech and expression?
The Bible is pretty cut and dry when it comes to certain behaviors or lifestyles.
But, in an ever more permissive society, where do people draw the line, and should it even be drawn in the first place? If not, why not?
If the people who opposed that sign don't want to inherit the kingdom of God...that's on THEM and not the church...or christians.
But that's just my thoughts on it.

The kids in full rest mode.

Well, the kids started off the day behaving themselves, but, for some reason, the time after dinner had them chasing each other ALL over the house.
And I mean running up and down the stairs, from one end to the other.
 Both Wifey and I had to get "vocal" when they were flying about.
Luckily, they wore themselves out (like playing with some toys wouldn't do likewise?), and settled back into good cat mode.
Hopefully, today will continue that.

Our furry duo had to avoid the rain yesterday when it came along, but no meals were missed, by either of the cats.

Someone has to guard the garage around here.

Early on, the mugginess had them just lying about, looking too pooped to do anything but save their energy.

This water dish never gets empty, either.

After the rain, it was less humid, and that meant going on patrol for him, and finding those cool shady spots for her.
Today should be even better.
*** Last back to the cereal box...I'm a firm believer that if our nation is due for a fall, it will come from WITHIN, and not from outside.

The parallels with ancient Rome can attest to that, although Rome did have outsiders conquer it (eventually).
It seems that every week, our permissiveness grows, and stated that it's done "in the name of tolerance".
I'm not convinced that's a good thing (even if it were true).
It's like making something and then tossing it out on the market before it's even been TESTED, and we all know how well that usually works out, don't we?
Maybe all these permissive attitudes and behaviors are some perverse way of "planned obsolescence" for our country?
I hope to hell not.
We've had too many genies let out of too many bottles in recent times, and there is NO way to get all of them back INTO the bottles, is there?

As a result, we don't see as much progress as a society as we see decline, so that alone SHOULD tell us something.
But, too many are occupied with whatever latest fad has grabbed them in a Svengali-like trance.
The hard part to all this is being on the "outside" looking in, not wanting to be part and parcel to society's decline, and yet, having to go along for the ride anyway. It's definitely a conundrum.
Hopefully, it's one we can work through, pray through, and come out better on the other side.
