Well, it's the end of the week AND the end of the month (of August)...I like whenever that happens. Nice and tidy.
We've got a pretty full boat of stuff to peruse, so have a seat and take it easy.
And, we'll be seeing another warm-up over the weekend (you knew that yesterday was too good to last, right?).
The good news is that any rain will not screw up any plans you might have...at least that's what the forecasters are saying, so don't blame me, kapeesh? After all, you know Indiana weather (can change by the minute)...right?
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly cloudy skies, temps reaching back up to around 84 degrees, and maybe a light breeze.
Now, let's all get the cup, glass or mug of Friday Fortitude poured and parked nearvy, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the coffee pot is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
AUGUST 31 -
---It's College Colors Day
(not interested one bit)
---It's National Diatomaceous Day
(WTH did he say? No doubt contrived)
---It's National Matchmaker Day
(again, not that interested)
---It's National South Carolina Day
(and we in Indiana should care about this...WHY?)
---It's National Trail Mix Day
(FINALLY, something that's worth it)
*** Next, and since the end of the week has arrived, let's see what we can observe over the following 48 hours, shall we?
SEPTEMBER 1 -
---Saturday is National Chicken Boy Day
(he looks white...isn't that a bit "racist"? LOL)
---It's National No Rhyme (Nor Reason) Day
(sounds like why the "locals" around here do what they do)
---It's National Tailgaiting Day
(Ohh...THAT kind of tailgaiting. Got it.)
SEPTEMBER 2 -
---Sunday is National Blueberry Popsicle Day
(looks more purple than blue)
---It's National V'J Day
(and the Second World War came to an end.)
There you go then...a few things worth noting. Just make sure to observe responsibly.
I'll post what's going on for the month of September on Monday, so stay tuned for that.
*** Next up, as is becoming commonplace in Ft. Wayne, we're starting the weekend off with a "BANG!"...or several.
Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20180831/1-dead-2-hurt-at-shooting-inside-home
This took place at a house in the 800 block of Madison St (near SE side close to downtown) around 2015 hrs.
One person was found dead inside the house and two others were outside wounded. They were taken to hospital where one is listed as critical, while the other is in serious condition.
As usual, no arrests or suspects in this.
But we DID get HOMICIDE NUMBER 33 for the year...wan't a total loss, right?
*** Next, a little "fun" in my neck of the (SE) woods that you won;t hear about on the news.
This took place yesterday along E Maple Grove around 1355 hrs. I was outside with Midnight when I heard sirens...and they got louder by the second. I figured "something" is coming this way. Didn't have to wait ling.
I saw a gray (Nissan?) SUV.speed past the house, blow through the YIELD sign at the corner, quickly followed by THREE FWPD vehicles (one SUV and 2 cruisers).
They had their full "Hollywood" on, too (lights and sirens). By the time I got my camera out of my pocket and turned it on, they were gone. It happened that quickly,

Won't find it THERE, people. |
Now THAT'S entertainment, and proof that there's rarely a day passes without SOME form of ethnic "drama"..
*** Next up, a very good Bill O'Reilly column regarding the Internet. Here's the link:
https://www.billoreilly.com/b/Attack-of-the-Internet-Monsters/724478420827449102.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=staff_column
Attack of the Killer Crabs...LOL. Good comparison, nonetheless.
Bill's got a way of explaining the problems we have with society today, and he's spot on, as usual.
*** Next, a story that I didn't hear anything about when I checked our major media sources. Here's the link:
http://www.wfft.com/content/news/Indian-Village-car-break-ins-continue-residents-patrol--492038581.html
It would appear that the Indian Village area of Fort Wayne is having a serious problem with vehicle break-ins of late. This is the area west of Bluffton Rd and off of Engle Rd. Not a bad area - nice houses, and from what I know, decent people.
But, they do have some "low income housing" (apartments) nearby, and those are havens for some of this city's human flotsam.
Around 20 vehicles have been broken into, and by a trio of what some residents believe are teenagers. I think those backpacks might contain break-in tools of the trade (as does Wifey).
Citizens living there have taken to patrolling the streets (in addition to more patrols by the FWPD).
Be a real shame if a citizen capped the ass of one of these thieves...a real, shame...(not).
*** Next up, time to make a stop at our "Kitten Corner"...
Our kids were in full "gotta follow Daddy around" mode yesterday, which makes picture taking hard at best.

Violet does her "head-rub" thing |
![]() |
Say "cheezburger"...gotcha! |
*** Next, let's do our daily check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"
![]() |
Those sirens hurt my ears...gotta nap it off. |
Whiskers was getting to know her personal shady spots a little better.
![]() |
Nice and cozy in HERE. |
And, of course, there is always the early evening "family portrait" in the yard.
American Gothic it ain't, but it definitely is cute.
*** Last back to the breakfast table...life is about change.
There I said it...sue me. It's true, though. Every day we wake up, it's a brand new day filled with changes. And, each day is also filled with challenges.
Those challenges often lead to change (usually for the better), and there's nothing wrong with that.
![]() |
That's a GOOD change. |
And yet, there IS a purpose to that kind of change (the seasons, for example).
What I get bothered with, is when change has no purpose but to serve itself. (change for the sake of change).
Humanity loves to play this card as often as it can.
We keep changing things...anything, and for any reason (sometimes for no reason).
All this is supposed to make everything better, but in reality, it rarely does.
That's why I'm resistant to change whenever mankind is involved.
I'm of the persuasion that "II something works, you stick with it." That applies to the educational process, our technologies, and yes, even enforcing our laws.
We see the results of change in society all too well (when is misdirected)...poop maps in Frisco, for example.
States embracing marijuana (medical or otherwise) isn't reaping the benefits we were told.
Relaxing discipline in classrooms hasn't made graduation rates rise one bit.
The list of the stupidity (from such change) gets longer every week, so you get the idea...
Let's stick with what matters...what works, and what's right. Enough with changing things that need not be changed.
After all, we're not God (nor should any of us ever profess to be).
Therein lies the lesson for the week.
Do have yourselves a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.
See 'ya next month!

You know, you'd think I coulda got here before this, since I got lack-of-doable-worked at 1235, but nonetheless I am here Saturday instead. And hopefully a big more coherent.
Your neighborhood would drive me nuts. In the meantime, our newset neighbors moved in yesterday- a young Asian couple whose head, Isaac, is a student at Concordia Theological! Things are looking up....
Teen thieves: It would be a shame if a kid got capped over this... not for the first blush reasons, but as Thor told Justice Peace, "for the waste of (their) life..."
A long time ago, we had this goofy mutt named George. I had to physically put a barrier between us when taking his picture, because he would want to be directly under the camera, as if it was a device for showering the head with dog treats.
KC played me a rap song last night that fits your close with its lyrics:
It's easy to blame God but harder to fix things
We look in the sky like, "why ain't You listening?"
Watching the news in our living rooms on the big screens
And talking 'bout "if God's really real, then where is He?"
You see the same God that you saying might not even exist
Becomes real to us, but only when we dying in bed
When ya healthy it's like, we don't really care for Him then
Leave me alone God, I'll call you when I need you again
Which is funny, everyone will sleep in the pews
Then blame God for our problems like He sleeping on you
We turn our backs on Him, what do you expect Him to do?
It's hard to answer prayers when nobody's praying....
Chris:
---Coherent is good...I try that as often as possible.
(sometimes, it even works...lol)
---My neighborhood would drive ANY person of reasonable sanity crazy...guess I have a good mental constitution (and guns...bwahahahaha)
---Sounds like you got a neighbor with which you can have some enlightening conversations.
(the only time WE get that is when you and Laurie stop down...heh)
---Those kids who are doing that (if they are in fact teens) are truly wasting their lives.
What they grab is nothing compared to what they MISS in lie.
---Pet critters can get SO "loving" at times...that's why I'm always w/ a camera...just in case that "money shot" comes around.
---A RAP song?
I will grant you that I get the gist of the lyrics and that they do make a lot of sense, but I will never become a fan of rap, or hip hop, or "urban contemporary" , or anything else it goes by today.
---People will keep God in a box and want to pull Him out ONLY when they NEED something...you've seen it as much as I have.
That's a sad way to practice being "religious". They will learn otherwise.
Hey, thanks for swinging by today and commenting.
Stay safe (and keep cool) up there, brother.
