The week (and the month) is winding inexorably down, and that means by Saturday, we will be enjoying a 3-day weekend, courtesy of the Labor Day holiday on Monday. Fall cannot be that far behind, can it?
(then we start raking leaves...lol)
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly cloudy skies, with temps reaching to around 75 degrees (that's better), and no rain., which reminds me, the rain we were SUPPOSED to get yesterday passed north of our area. That's fine, the lawns are growing enough as it is.

How AGED is this again? |
*** First off of the patio is the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"To love our neighbor as ourselves is such a truth for regulating human society, that by that alone one might determine all the cases in social morality."
This was spoken by an old friend here, one John Locke (29 August 1632 – 28 October 1704), who was an English philosopher and physician, widely regarded as one of the most influential of Enlightenment thinkers and commonly known as the "Father of Liberalism".
(and NO, not THAT kind of liberalism...remember the times he lived in)
Hey, his birthday was yesterday...how about that?
Here's his WIKI if you want or need a refresher course :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Locke
((Locke exercised a profound influence on political philosophy, His arguments concerning liberty and the social contract later influenced the written works of Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and other Founding Fathers of the United States.))
Yes, we can conclude that Locke contributed to our founding documents.
It's a very good read about a very integral part of our nation's creation.
*** Next, time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
AUGUST 30 -
---It's National Grief Awareness Day
(I'm aware of it every day, and have taught myself to live with it, as should we all)
---It's National Toasted Marshmallow Day
(fall is a good time for that )
*** Next up, and speaking of good times, it's time once again for the annual Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg Festival. Here's the lowdown:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/acd-festival-returns-for-62nd-year-year-of-the-speedster-/1406291685
The days when REAL cars were made in America...by craftsmen of the highest order.
Lots of innovations in those days, and none of the electronic clap-trap we have stuffed into our vehicles these days.
*** Next, and speaking of cars, Eric Olson has a very good spot regarding another Indiana "first". Here's the link:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/38988834/zoom
The Miller Junior 8, first seen at the Indy 500 back in 1925 - the first car in that race to have FRONT wheel drive...(can came in secind to boot). Little did anyone know that this "new-fangled" thing would prove successful later on. The Cord Motor Company bought the patent for the system and put it into it's OWN cars. Today, it's hard to find many vehicles that DON'T have front wheel drive.
And to think it started in Indiana almost 100 years ago. Pretty cool stuff.
*** Next up, Kevin Leininger has a very good column that addresses something lefties are calling toxic masculinity.
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/08/30/kevin-leininger-if-real-men-are-now-politically-incorrect-dont-be-surprised-by-rise-of-toxic-masculinity/
I guess we can blame this kinds stuff on society's LACK of morality.
That's the weird thing about having morals...when people DON'T have them, the unintended consequences that come about in the aftermath become more numerous by the day.
We see this going on daily, and it's not hard at all to figure out WHY it happens.
When we become a less civil society, we forego all the attributes that make us decent people. Simple as that.
*** Next, time to drop by and look in on our "Kitten Corner"...
The kids were a little on the manic said early on, but calmed down just as quickly. Don't know why they do it, but they're cats, so there IS no reason to their actions...LOL.
Thankfully, the remainder of the day consists of some chronic cuteness a well as some serious napping and chowing down when it's mealtime. A pretty good routine to follow, I must say.
*** Next up, time to do our check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our furry twosome were there for breakfast, but neither of them made lunch (at first). Midnight came by later (as usual), an Whiskers was pretty much M.I.A. for a couple hours, but both were there for dinner and "treats".
Wherever they go during the day beats me, but as long as they're not out playing in traffic and dodging rocks tossed by kids (or being shot at, which can happen in the ghettohood), and they come back safe, that's all that matters.
*** Last back to the outhouse...our society needs to change it's (current) ways...period.
And, I'd like to address some of what I talked about yesterday using that quote from that editorial:
((The left’s claims that crime is caused solely by economic and racial factors is simply not supported by the facts. Crime is the result of individuals making wrong moral choices.))
You want to talk about wrong moral choices? How about a disposable diaper tossed on our ;lawn later yesterday afternoon? (fully loaded I might add).

More TNB. |
But NO, that's makes TOO much damn sense (for those with no sense at all).
![]() |
What' wrong with THESE? |
You can't claim poverty on this either, because disposable diapers cost more than the old fashioned cloth ones (that no on bothers to use today). If anything, I suppose OUR tax dollars helped PAY for that diaper (through welfare programs). Helluva way to "recycle".
It was most likely tossed from a car window (probably by a black person, as they're the majority down here and the odds favor that), so this tells me someone has enough money to afford a vehicle.

This runs GOOD...or BAD. |
Normal people do NOT go about tossing diapers from car windows, unless they lack the basic concept of civility.
Then again, when you allow such (bad) behavior to go unpunished, that says to these "people" that it's okay to keep doing it, along with other deplorable behaviors.
I suppose this is something that the black community never wants to talk about, either...hits too close to home, I guess.
Our society has some serious problems, and they DO have to be addressed. The sooner people get their heads out of their asses and start behaving like DECENT people, the better off we all become, and the better we'll once again start treating one another.
But the effort has to be made to WANT to do it. Anything less just hurts us more.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Well, since I agree with you on all the important points, and suddenly have become too sleepy for snark, let me say a thing or thing-and-a-half on the closing.
I honestly wouldn't blame all that on the black community alone. One of our cut-throughs to the plex was filled by a white somebody's garbage bag that they were too lazy to take out to the dumpster at night, leaving it on their porch, and the wind blew it into the cluvert and animals did the rest. Nary an attempt to do anything but shrug and say, Oh well.
Disposed diapers certainly aren't a rarity either, especially along the river and even in the woods. Not many blacks make this jaunt that Ive seen.
It is an increasing culture of slovenlyness (San Fran knows that better than most) and it is a wide-swath cross-section. For every Burmese that spits on a public floor there's a white guy dumping his ashtray at the Kroger parking lot. For every empty Newport pack you find on your street, there's an empty box of Swisher Sweets along mine. And when was the last time you saw a bag from an authentic Mexican restaurant like Mi Puebla, versus a Taco Bell bag?
Now, I'm not busting on you. I know what you see where you are and where it comes from. But it is all places, all kinds, and it dates back to the nod-nod-wink wink when the old timers dumped the busted washing machine down the riverbank or that turn in the dirt road no one ever goes down. It's just that, as society gets worse in ALL its sins, this gets magnified too.
And me? Thirty years ago, I had a tradition of throwing my just replaced pair of shoes out the window as I approached the old house. No stones here.
Chris:
---I know you're not busting on me...and you DO make a lot of very valid points.
I just point a finger at the blacks around here (the low-information, low-intelligent, welfare grabbing, disrespectful, haters of anything or anyone who shows the LEAST amount of morality to them) because I've seen them do similar things before.
---I can't call out the whites on this one, for we don't hardly HAVE any around any longer...lol.
So, it falls upon the shoulders of all the ethnics in the area.
---I just find it appalling that with trash BINS sitting along the street (which they should not, but that's another story), they chose to toss it on a LAWN (and mine of all the ones to pick from).
THAT is what pisses me off.
Bad choices of morality.
---I would NEVER think of doing that, and yet...there are some who find it perfectly "natural".
---Society is getting way out of hand, thanks to those who foster such behaviors.
---I used to get strongly chided if I threw a gum wrapper on the street (Mom fund them in my pockets when she washed,...HEH.)
I couldn't get away with much, and I carried that into adulthood.
I can't remember the last time I dropped anything (of mine) on another person's property intentionally.
Our own trash has IT'S place.
But I WILL "recycle" some trash back into the street for others to "enjoy" as they drive through.
I'm no angel in this regard, but I am pretty sick and tired of all the nonsense with these people. THEY need to shape up...and stop creating health and safety risks for others.
(I wonder if King Henry has such things happen in HIS neighborhood?)
Hey, thanks for stopping on by to comment.
Stay safe (and diaper-free) up there, brother
