21 August 2018

Tuesday Tidbits...
If you ask me, I think we're getting a bit too much rain for the month of August. Where was all this back in APRIL?
But, it does keep some of the locals a tad quieter around here, so it's a trade-off.
Rumor has it that this is all supposed to end this afternoon...we shall see.
Our Hooiserland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, scattered rain (and thundershowers) will continue through a good part of the day, and temps will climb to around 77 degrees. .
Yes, take the umbrella, and drive cautiously Your life may depend on it.
In the meanwhile, let's get a refreshing drink (with a healthy dose of caffeine in it) poured to satisfy our thirst, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off the wet lawns is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
AUGUST 21 -
---It's National Brazilian Blowout Day
(a good day to buy some tires is you live in Rio DeJanero...oh, not THAT kinda blowout?)
---It's National Senior Citizens Day
(good...time for a nap)
---It's National Spumoni Day
(Italian ice cream...huzzah!)
*** Next up, and since today IS Tuesday, let's look at all the FWPD calls that went out last wee that we NEVER heard anything about.

*** Next, WANE had a segment on outgoing councilman (6th district) Glynn Hines.
To me, this is nothing short of being "Positively the south side" Here's the link:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/councilman-hines-makes-positive-impact/1376260037
I understand WHY he's leaving...dialysis can't be a walk in ANY park, so health concerns that take away from the job take precedence. And yes, I'll pray for him.
But, if we look at the other side to this coin, to talk about ALL that he's accomplished and tout that as successes...well, that's another can of worms that should be opened.
Since Hines has been on council, the SE side (mainly his district), has lost hundreds of businesses. We even had out mall close (along with the only 2 movie screens down here).
Crime has risen dramatically, in spite of whatever propaganda was issued from City Hall (and the FWPD when Rusty York was the capo there).
Use the damn sidewalks, lazy-ass!
Neighborhoods have deteriorated to the point where there is a problem house on damn near every block. We have refugees and Lord knows how many illegals living down here as well, all for some sake of "diversity".
But the SE did get a new McMillen Community Center (big whoop). And new housing (to replace all the housing that was burned down and trashed by lowlifes).
Many (in power) forget that there are those of us who STILL live here and see this entire quadrant of town becoming a crime scene.
For us (and others) moving away is not an option, unless the city would LIKE to provide a house (fully paid for) AWAY from the madding crowds down here (not ever going to happen).
So, please don't even attempt to insult my intelligence with any mention of success down here, unless you wish to call the blight that's been created (and has spread) over the last 20 years a "success"...kapeesh?
*** Next up, time to stop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
Our children were wonderfully sedate yesterday...they just took things extremely easy.
I had to make sure nothing was wrong, because you expect them to act like the young cats they are...a bit on the manic side, but no, they were nice and calm.
They saved their energy for mealtime...THEN, they get a little crazy, but that's fine.
I do the same thing when it comes to Philly cheesesteaks.
*** Next, let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Geez, that camo guy's not gonna worry, iz he?
Our furry twosome were right where they should be...at the patio door when it was breakfast time. I noticed that Whiskers had a very slight limp (from her right hind leg), and I looked it over.
I feel okay, really. I gave you some leg rubs.
There was no sign of injury, no swelling or dislocation. She just favored it most of the day.
We'll keep watching her just in case,. Don't want anything to happen to our outdoor princess.
As for Midnight?
I haz "Someone to watch over me"
Well, after his morning patrol, he stood guard over Whiskers for the balance of the day. Anywhere she went, he wasn't far behind...like a doting sibling.
Keeping watch - It's just part of my job.
And we think animals don't care...shame on us.
*** Last back to the tool shed...it's been said that mankind is the only species that makes the conscious decision to prey upon itself.
We don't act out of any sense of "instinct", although at times that could be debated.
We choose to become predators against our fellow man, and often with dire consequences.
All you have to do is look to Chicago and their self-created "war-zones" to see what I mean.
If those people took ALL the energy they expend on killing one another, and put it to something CONSTRUCTIVE, rather than destructive, there's no telling how much BETTER life would be for those people.
Sadly, we'll never find out...and the body count will continue to rise.
Animals will kill out of instinct - they have little choice to do otherwise.
We, on the other hand are alleged to be more highly "evolved" and therefore, can decide to not give into behaviors that are harmful to everyone else. In many places around the world, you'd never see any evidence of mankind being any better than the animals they slaughter.
Perhaps there will come a day when more people realize what they are doing and come to terms with their actions...and then do something to correct that. Someday maybe...just not today.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Just getting ready to go out... sorry to hear about Whiskers, but neat to see MN taking care of her! As for GH... nothing to add. Keeping him (and all elected officials) on the list, trying to focus on their souls and not their politics.

Chris:
---Whiskers seems pretty much okay today. She's napping under the table on one of the chairs. Midnight is on the prowl.
---I agree with on all politicians. Better to concentrate on their souls (because their politics suck anyway).

Have a good time out there and thanks for stopping by to comment.

Stay safe (and dry) up there, brother.
