Humpday Happenings...
Yes. friends...another day of hazy, hot and humid coming to the Heartland.
But Fall IS on the way (or so we're being promised).
I know...we'll all be bitching about the COLD in a few months. Well, maybe not ALL of us.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly sunny skies (we did get a brief bit of rain overnight), temps rising again to the mid 80s (we broke 90 the last two days), and a slight chance of rain returning later this evening (overnight again?). No need for the umbrella.
Now, let's get things going with a nice refreshing
drink to hydrate the innards, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the cupboard is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"Truth will always be truth, regardless of lack of understanding, disbelief or ignorance."
There you go...short, sweet and to the point. It also happens to be VERY true
So, who said that?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, abck at the Detroit College of Law...
*** Next, time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
SEPTEMBER 19 -
---It's National Butterscotch Pudding Day
(I actually like this, and I;m not saying it because I'm over 65...lol)
---It's Talk Like A Pirate Day
(they spoke better English than most of the "locals" around here...imagine that)
*** Next up, an excellent column by Kevin Leininger regarding today's "whiteness" in America.
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/09/18/kevin-leininger-liberal-guilt-trip-takes-a-detour-now-even-white-people-get-safe-spaces/
Wow, we have our own "safe spaces" on campus?
Be still my taxic masculinity-laden, white privileged, Bible-reading, God-fearing, gun-toting heart...lol.
You know, sometimes I think if it wasn't for all those ignorant people out there, the rest of us wouldn't look so good.
Thing is, when you "segregate" whites for whatever reason, aren't you going BACK to the days when blacks were (also) segregated? Doesn't that actually FOSTER racism, rather than abolish it?
Kevin does a good job of pointing out the lunacy of some out there.
Do we really want to create ethnic "enclaves", as some would propose? Not a good idea in my book.
*** Next, while we're speaking to ignorance, (which is said to be bliss), there's this little gem of a story:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/reports-of-juveniles-with-guns-leads-to-raid-3-arrested/1457899565
The raid took place around 0930 hrs in a house located at 1017 Tennessee Ave.
((According to Fort Wayne Police, an investigation was launched several weeks ago after residents reported "several subjects, mostly juveniles,  at this location carrying guns and reports of shots being fired from inside and outside of the residence."
At the home, police found a loaded Beretta 9mm handgun that had recently been reported stolen, and a .223 caliber assault-style rifle, along with evidence and paraphernalia associated with marijuana usage.
Stone cold ignorant!
Police arrested 35-year-old Jermorris Sewell and 35-year-old Tamira Morgan on charges of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Neglect of a Dependent and Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor.
A juvenile was also arrested on a charge of Dangerous Possession of a Firearm. Police said they found the loaded handgun in his bedroom.))
Sewell was being held at Allen County Jail without bail. Morgan was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail, according to a jail spokesman.
And so ends another blissful morning in the north side (future hood)..
Expect this stuff to occur most everywhere in the city now.
*** Next up, time to stop by out "Kitten Corner"...
Sometimes, he'll sleep through anything.
The kids had another good day (no doubt in anticipation of the fall weather).
There are times when I wonder if Violet is deaf, though.
I have no problem making noises that Gallifrey hears, but she tends to be less prone to hearing those noises, unless it's a "selective" thing.
I think she may be messin' with me.
I know she alerts more to visual cues, rather than auditory ones.
Maybe it's just me and there's nothing to be concerned about.
She's got the cute thing going on, anyway.
*** Next, let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
I'm back again...where's the food?
The furry duo spent the day as they always seem to do lately - he goes on patrol (nd misses lunch) while she hangs around the patio, seeking shade.
Aw, geez...not ANOTHER picture.
At least they're both here for breakfast and dinner (and hand-held treats)...so that's a blessing. And they stay around until the sun sets (which is earlier and earlier.
I'm NOT on the cover of Cat Fancy?
Hope their Circadian cycle doesn't get screwed up when we (humans) change the stupid clocks back an hour.
*** Last back to the kitchen sink...the world is full of evil, and that means it's full of ignorance.
I say that because the one picture at the end of yesterday's post showed how when you mix ignorance with various other "traits" from humanity, you get really nasty results.
But how do people become ignorant in the first place? We're not born that way, so it has to be an "acquired" trait, right?
Perhaps it all stems from our "age of accountability", which occurs early on (by the time we hit elementary school).
Sire, we all do dumb things as we grow up, but that's how we learn.
With some people, that learning never takes places, or the lesson to be learned is outright ignored, in favor of more self-pleasing activities (the dawn of hedonism).
Any trait we acquire in our life, if it's detrimental to us (or others) can be  dropped like that proverbial "bad habit", but it takes the willingness to do so. It takes a conscious CHOICE (doesn't it always?).
As long as man has free will, that choice will always be ours and ours alone.
There's the rub...to WANT to make that choice.
The net result of choosing to not give into to ignorance (and allow evil a place to play) creates better individuals, and thereby a better society.
Sounds like a plan to me.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Shoot, Bob (excuse the pun) Tennessee has been ghetto north for a while...

Violet: Try coming up behind her with the sonic once...

JUST kidding. I think that like most of us, they hear what they want to hear. Not in a bad way, but some just don't make the clear associations as others do.

You know, the sad thing is we all automatically equate ignorance with lower capacity to learn, and that isn't right. Ignorance is worked at, willfully waklking away from understanding and learning and progressing. So yeah, I agree.

Chris:
---No pun taken, my friend.
I defer to YOUR expertise regarding the NORTHERN side of this burg. Had a feeling it was going that way, considering how much (crime) we're seeing in OTHER parts of town.
---Maybe she's not deaf, because if I jingle my keys, she looks up. It's selective.
Have to try that w/ the sonic.
I think I'm still equating their behavior with our last pair of cats...transference and expectations thing.
---That was the point I hope I made here.
Ignorance (as you mention) goes FAR deeper and as usual, it always comes down to the decision-making process.
I figured we'd both be on the same page with that.

Thanks for dropping by to comment today.
Always a pleasure.

Stay safe up there, brother.
