Tuesday Tidbits...

And, the summer-like conditions continue...seems we can't shed this stuff.
This might play hell with fall foliage. If the weather changes drastically, then we'll go from green leaves to brown, minus all the wonderful colors we typically see with a more gradual change. Let's keep our fingers crossed on this.
Out Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly sunny skies to start with, getting cloudy later on, temps climbing (again) to the upper 80s and a chance of some rain to add to the humidity which we'll be getting anyway. Maybe you can skip the umbrella.

Never at a loss for MORONS...are we?
*** Next, and speaking of crime, we got us a white robber on our hands.
Here's the story:

This took place at the Wells Fargo bank branch located on W.State Blvd. around 0930 hrs yesterday morning.

The suspect was described as a white man in his early 20s with pale skin, 5-feet-5 or 5-feet-6. Police said he was wearing a black ball cap with a unique hologram sticker on it, a gray Nike hoodie, blue jeans and hi-top athletic shoes.

At first, I didn't want to watch the news story, but my feelings got the better of me, and yes, I was brought to tears, especially when seeing the "Black Watch" (bagpipes) and heard the dispatch give the final transmission for Officer Tinsley, who was assigned to OUR sector (Nora) in the SE part of town.

He got the best (end tour-of-duty) sendoff a LEO could get.

The kids seemed happy with mommy's return.

Actually, they were kinda laid-back.

While neither of them go crazy as a dog would do (and I kinda miss that specific type of affection), they got right back into the swing of things like leg rubs and head bumps and such.
Considering they both still have their claws, maybe NOT jumping up onto either of us DOES have it's advantages.
Never got scratched by a dog's claws...I miss THAT, too...lol.

Our furry twosome were their usual selves - he was on patrol until close to dinner time (missed another lunch), but she was right alongside the house, staying out of the sun (and heat) all day.

Having both of them around for over a year now brings a certain comfort level of familiarity, and if there's one thing in life we should always seek, it's that familiarity, because so many other good feelings come along for that ride.
*** Last back to the tanning salon...the times we live in are often the stuff of bad dreams.

Growing up (in Philly), our nation in general (and our neighborhoods in particular) were filled with a LOT more friendly folk.

We had fewer arrogant people. We had fewer ignorant people, and I don't mean that as a portrayal of a lack of education.
Back in the day, there were many who never finished school often to enter the working class (out of necessity) to help support the family.
These people were not ignorant (in that way) by ANY means. If anything, they were acutely aware of what the real world was like and how they could best adapt to it.
Today, the world changes at damn near warp speed, and it's a more constant pace...there's little to any let up.
We don't seem to have time to adjust, but to some, that's fine, as they just meander through life, taking what they want, and doing what they want...now THAT is ignorance.

And the level of ignorance is brought about purely by the chronic making of bad choices.
In fact, such decisions seem to be expected, rather than shunned, and that only leads to all the other problems that filter down from this behavior.
Are we living in good times? Compared to many other nations, we've ALWAYS lived in good times, but compared to times past in THIS nation, it's hard to shout an impulsively resounding "yes".
Thing is, I wish I could, but I'm just not seeing it, because I believe we are all better than what we're settling for today.
