Tuesday Tidbits...
Sure feels a lot more like mid-winter than late fall outside.
I read where those CA wildfires have placed a fair amount of smoke and ash particles into the atmosphere, and that the jet-stream has managed to carry it all the way to US in Indiana. That might explain cloudier skies, but as to smelling smoke? Nah, it's just some of the "locals" burning leaves (or houses and churches). We do need to offer a prayer for everyone who has lost everything and been displaced by those events.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, a few snow flurries during the day, and our high will top out around 34 degrees (pretty close to what it is already).
Driving might be a bit on the slick side in the morning, so please take the proper amount of caution out there. The life you save may be your own.
Now, let's start the day with a nice warming drink, as we see what else has been going on, shall we?
*** First off of the sofa is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
NOVEMBER 13 -
---It's National Indian Pudding Day
(doesn't look half bad)
---It's also World Kindness Day
(don't usually do the "world" stuff, but this merits our attention)
*** Next, and since it is another Tuesday, let's take a look at all the FWPD calls that went out last week, that we never heard anything about...and should have:

*** Next up, we finally made it to FORTY HOMICIDES in Allen Cointy (which includes Fort Wayne). Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20181113/1-dead-1-hurt-in-shooting-on-state
This took place last evening at the 1125  W. State Blvd Kroger parking lot.
Two men were shot after some sort of "altercation" near the gas station in the lot.
One male was found dead at the scene. Another male was taken to hospital in a private car and was downgraded from serious to critical.
This town sure gone crazy these days, isn't it?
*** Next, a literal legend to the realm of comicdom has passed away.
Stan Lee has died at the age of 95. Here's the story:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/marvel-comics-legend-stan-lee-dies-at-95/ar-BBPCSj8?OCID=ansmsnnews11
Here also are how stars of the MCU are reacting to Stan's passing:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/entertainthis/2018/11/12/stan-lee-dead-celebs-mourn-marvel-comics-icon/1978955002/
And, here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stan_Lee
You have to say he's had a pretty good ride, and made such a contribution to comic books, creating superheros with actual problems, and their struggles to live with them.
And becasue of those characters he (and the late Jack Kirby) created, it made life a might easier to deal with for those of us "true believers" (as he called his army of readers). He will certainly be missed, but hardly forgotten.
*** Next up, time to stop by "Kitten Corner"...
The kids were not messing with toilets and that was good.
Oh, mommy's home. Cool...when do we eat?
They watched mommy come home, and I expected more fanfare from them, but nope...they took it right in stride. Oh, yeah...she's back.
Between bird watching, eating, napping and trips to the litter pan, there wasn't a whole of other stuff for them to do. Overall, it was still a very good day.
*** Next, let's take time to check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Enjoying fine dining al fresco.
Our furry twosome stayed close by all day, and again made all three meals (she was late for lunch, but showed up).
Who's this "al" guy? He don't feed us.
When treats time came, HE was not around...dunno why, either.
After they were fed, I said I'd be out after I ate to give them treats.
I suppose something else needed his immediate attention. We'll try again today.
*** Last back to the comic book store...back when I was in high school, there was a ritual of sorts that took place every Wednesday without fail.
Comics were always at the bottom.
That was to stop by the drug store to see if the latest issues of Marvel comics had arrived (time to blow any lunch money or allowance I had saved...heh).
25 ¢ could buy you 2 comics.
My schoolmate buddy Hank looked for the HULK issues, while I looked for Captain America and Iron Man (they shared an issue once - Tales of Suspense), and the latest Amazing Spiderman. Once in a while, an X-Men or Fantastic Four, or even a Mighty Thor issue was purchased, depending on who those heroes fought.
And with few exceptions, the name Stan Lee was in every issue.
Seeing how these (fictional) heroes dealt with life became something we embraced, and it wasn't a bad way to brush up on your vocabulary.
(Yes, comics TAUGHT us stuff, like how to read better and how to draw)
I don't think I can imagine what life could have been like without such comics (and these were aside from the usual DC heroes, which were more "cut and dry" back then).
Marvel wasn't as predictable as DC, and that was due to many "cliffhanger" issues (which made you to have to get the next issue or two...wonderful revenue/marketing ploy). But that was when comics cost a paltry 12 cents (25 cents for the "double-size" issues).
I would have to say that Stan Lee (along with Jack Kirby) helped a LOT of us cope with reality in ways they could never imagine.
And as far as I'm concerned, that's one helluva legacy.
Thank you Stan...for all the wonder, all the magic, and all the lessons we learned as we grew up.
And, to use Stan's favorite sign off..."EXCELSIOR!".
He done good...he done real good. Something we can all learn from, right?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

World Kindness: Sorry, I was a grouch today...

Stan: That tweet from the Army made me cry. You, Roy, and Jack, John, you stood so high... always live on.

My first comic was a 12 cent Superman. They went up to 15 the next week.

Chris:
---Doesn't look EASTERN...more native American (I hope).
Heck, put some Cool Whip on it, and it's gotta be good...heh.
---The way I look at that...the REST of the world can be kind...folks like us already do our part.
(sound okay to you?)
---I confess that the farther down that story I went, the more I felt the loss, and all he did for us as we were growing up.
That, you never forget.
And it's why I had to include it.
---I can't recall the EXACT title, but I think mine had to be 10 cent comics, and most likely DC (Was a huge Sgt. Rock fan). Joe Kubert was a great artist.
Had some DELL comics too (Donald Duck, Mighty Mouse)...betcha if I STILL had those, they'd be worth some $$$.
(oh well)

Hey, thanks for dropping on by and commenting.

Stay safe (and a true believer) up there, brother.
