Tuesday Tidbits...

If you prefer the chill of winter and some snowflakes falling about, then welcome to Indiana. Yes, even though we're STILL in the fall season, climate change is taking place...just as it ALWAYS has over the centuries.
But, there are no "blizzard conditions" pending, as was the case  a little farther west of us.
Our Hoosierland weather brings us periods of light snow out there today, with wonderfully cloudy skies. Temps will drop throughout the day, so whatever it is outside right now(0700 hrs) will be our high. From the upper 30s down into the 20s will be the scenario du jour.
Dress appropriately and drive accordingly, as there may be lingering slick spots along the roads, streets and (especially) overpasses.

Now, what say we all get ourselves a nice comforting drink poured, as we see what else has been going on...hmm?

What these people SAY they want and what we expect them to do is about as far apart as east is from west at this point.
Sorry, but if this keeps up (and we know it will), I'm for closing the borders EXCEPT for trade...period.

*** Next, are we ALL being subliminally forced to buy an SUV or "Crossover"?
Ever think that YOUR next vehicle might just be something OTHER than the traditional American (or imported) AUTOMOBILE, and that we will have NO choice in the matter?

GM "says" they want to focus on hybrids and trucks and SUVs (because they're telling us that's what people want). Such "new directions" never bode well.
Yet, there ARE a crapload of us that DO NOT want(or need) a damn truck...so where does that leave us? Hung out to dry once again, as it's been for several decades with all the change for change sake PCBS, right?
Not to mention, thanks to ALL the taxpayers in this country, there was something back in 2008 called a BAILOUT (of GM)...guess the company conveniently FORGOT about that?

History does not lie.

So, GM chooses to pursue two technologies that have proven to be worth less than the research put into them: autonomous vehicles and electric vehicles.

WTH ever happened to all that HYDROGEN FUEL CELL TECH? That was supposed to be better than electric? Not hearing a peep out of anyone about that, are we?

She's kinda pooped out.

The "children" were pretty good...for the most part. Seems they had one bout of racing about in the morning, and then when Wifey came home after dark, another bout of the same.

After a run...a long nap.

The only thing I get concerned about is that they'll run into one of us, and cause an unexpected trip.
(personally, those trips I can do without)
Other than that, they were good as gold.
*** Next, it's time to check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...

Hey, it stopped that snowing thing.

Our furry twosome spent most all day near the house. Whiskers was in a shelter, and when it was raining, sleeting, and snowing, Midnight went elsewhere (while the other shelter remained unoccupied.
When I went to get the mail, I hear this meowing from the porch across from our house.

Yeah, gets crowded under that table.

Sure enough, here he comes, across the street to our lawn. I told him to go around to the patio and I'd get him some food (which he did rather quickly).
Neither of them missed a meal...OR treats.
*** Last back to the countertop...I don't know about you, but I'm getting a bit bored (and really PO'ed) with certain major companies these days.

But GM has managed BOTH, haven't they?

Whenever they make BAD choices, and face bankruptcy or some other form of collapse, the government sees fit to take our money and "help" them back into financial solvency.
That's all well and good, provisionally-speaking.
We talked last week about something that these companies fail to acknowledge...GRATITUDE.
I mean, the manner in which we are "thanked" by companies (like GM) is with massive layoffs and a halt to major models of cars, in lieu of more crossover and SUVs.

The 2008 bailout cost $11.2 BILLION bucks.

To be honest, GM has managed in just ten short years to be right back where they were in 2008...facing some serious financial issues (like another bankruptcy).
Now why do you suppose lightning has struck twice here?
MORE BAD CHOICES?
Sounds like it to me.
Whatever happened to American car makers, that they consistently perform in ways that help few of us, and hurt many of us?
Cripes, the level of RECALLS alone is enough to make you not want to get behind the wheel (for fear it might fall off).
The quality has suffered over time, the choice WE have of different models has declined and now, the ability to purchase a simple CAR is in jeopardy.

That sure doesn't feel much like consumer-oriented capitalism to me.
Sounds more like a monopoly. That's not something we should want..
All we need is that funny money, right?
