Friday Follies...
Welcome to the end of another week...and yes, it's a tad on the damp side out there (for us).
The good news is that it's rain and not snow, so that means it's not freezing.
We're also into the home stretch of the Christmas season, and then a week after that, we start another year (which means "here we go again"...lol).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us overcast skies with some light rain through the first half of the day, but it will be scattered in nature as long as it lasts. No soaking conditions (yay). The high today will reach around the 45 degree mark.
So, what say we chase away the morning chill with a nice hot cup of Friday Fortitude, as we see what else has been taking place...
*** First out of the  kitchen sink is our 'What the hell happens today, Bob?"
DECEMBER 14 -
---It's Monkey Day
(okay, this is a new one on me. Make mine a "golden" one...heh)
---It's National Alabama Day
(they mean the state and not the country rock group)
---It's National Bouillabaisse Day
(Think french fish stew)
---It's Free Shipping Day
(always on a day when you don't need it, too)
*** Next up, and since we are finally at week's end, let's take a look at what we can observe over the following 48 hours:
DECEMBER 15 -
---Saturday is Bill Of Rights Day
(be nice if more people read it and understood it))
---It's Cat Herder's Day
(always much easier with a laser pointer)
---It's National Cupcake / Lemon Cupcake Day
(sounds good and looks good)
---It's National Wear Your Pearls Day
(don't have any, so not gonna wear any)
---It's National Wreaths Across America Day
(for those who gave all)
DECEMBER 16 -
---Sunday is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day
There are still SOME things to which this should NEVER be applied)
---It's Barbie and Barney Backlash Day
(and I need to care about this WHY?)
And there you have it. Please remember to always observe responsibly.
*** Next, an update to the Regency Inn death investigation
((An autopsy has confirmed the woman's identity as Janaya Michelle Boone, 38, of Fort Wayne. However the Allen County Coroner's Office was not able to yet determine the cause and manner of death. ))
Lemme see...face down, pool of blood, multiple stab wounds. Got homicide written all over this one. Doesn't sound like a nosebleed to me. Also, there's THIS:
https://wpta21.com/news/2018/12/13/police-person-of-interest-named-in-regency-inn-death-investigation/
((Police are looking for one 40-year-old Tyrin Royce Boone as a person of interest they believe to be connected to the death investigation)).
Obviously a relation...possible domestic gone sideways?
We have as many "domestics" as most all other crimes combined down here in sector 45. That's just the nature of the "beasts".
*** Next up, Tis the season to be sentenced. Here's the update:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/courts/20181213/man-gets-50-years-for-cutting-wifes-throat-with-machete
Feliz Navidad...for the next 5 decades, MURDERER
*** Next, Tis the season to keep Fort Wayne's "Good Old Boy" network going. Here's the story:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/12/13/john-urbanhs-to-succeed-eric-doden-as-ceo-of-greater-fort-wayne-inc/
Yes, John Urbahns takes the reins of GFW, Inc when Eric Doden resigns next year.
And the wheels on the bus go round and round...don't they?
As can be expected, the SOUTH end of town continues to suffer as a result. Thank you, sire.
*** Next up, time to visit our "Kitten Corner"...
Okay, so where's the lights and ornaments?
The kids did well as they stayed out of the way while I put up some more decorations and the (fake) tree.
They tried to get a bit "nosy", but I managed to chase them away (for the time being).
Don't look at me. I'm catchin' a few rays.
I guess they're both waiting for the ornaments to be put on...then they'll have something to bat at...yeah, that's gotta be it.
*** Next, let's do our check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Well;, it's not raining yet.
Our furry duo were also performing well yesterday, until it started to lightly rain when I was giving them hand=held treats after their dinner.
Hold on. I think I felt a drop.
We ALMOST made it through the day without a weather interruption...(almost).
But, we did have a good portion of the day to ourselves, and that means not having to eat UNDER the patio table (like we might have to do today).
*** Last back to the countertop...there comes a time when you begin to wonder how many Christmases you have left in you.
I mean, I'm certainly no longer a spring chicken, and reality has a nasty way of making that much known. Funny thing...I can still recall many of those past Christmases...where we lived, what I got, and so on.
And even as you get older, you'd like to keep that part of the holiday going.
There was the wonderment, the wide-eyed joy as we opened the gifts, and yes, the ear-to-ear smiling by our parents as they watched.
There was also the special church services, and taking food baskets to the elderly members of our congregation, laced with some doorstep Christmas caroling.
Funny how you do remember all that, and yet realize that even that doesn't last forever.
I think it's only fair that we view each Christmas as a "last" Christmas.
Fill the holiday with as much joy as you can muster, and celebrate it in the manner and spirit for which the holiday exists. Something to think about.
Do have a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

We'll catch you next week.

I'll be disappointed if you aren't wearing pearls at BJs...

Cover anything in chocolate: But not many...

Boone: read that story this morning. What gets me is here's another "the police didn't do anything" deal, and what do they expect them to do? If you don't press charges, they can't make the bully go away by magic...

GFW: The nature of things- too many money men that can't see past their own offices...

Good close. I wonder if that's what I'm doing...

Chris:
Hate to disappoint, but no, I won't.
And I won't EVEN be wearing "camos", either...(horrors!).
Yeah, it may "the end of the world as we know it"...LOL.
---The more I think about that, the LONGER my list grows...heh.
---EXACTLY! You do have to forgive the "low-information" crowd, though. They DO feel SO entitled, and this doesn't come under such auspices.
---Or our OWN billfolds...(aye, there's the rub).
---You're probably not doing anything many of us are not already doing.
The future is fluid...and yet perpetually inevitable.
(We know all the timey-wimey stuff, right?)
Whether we like it or not, it IS a'comin', and usually has a way of arriving way too soon.
I never thought for a moment what Christmas would be like (at my current age) when I was a young'un.
Now, it's more like seeing reflections from the past...and if we can brave a smile or two at those, that's worth it.

Thanks much for taking the time to comment.
(we'll catch 'ya on the flip side of noon today)

Have yourselves a good weekend and stay safe up there, brother.

So there goes, "Yes, we'll be waiting on a guy in camo and his wife..." Thanks for warning me!

There could be the possibility of me in camos...depends on IF I wind up crossing my own time-streams...
(I hate when that happens)
