Tuesday Tidbits...
Welcome to a day which will seem to feel a lot like yesterday, except the calendar will have something to say about that.
Still, it is a bit on the brisk side out there this morning.
Not looking like we're going to get that snow for the holidays, though. At this point, doesn't even look like rain.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly sunny skies, temps again reaching to around 40 degrees, and no precipitation (for the time being).
There may be increasing clouds by nightfall.
Now that calls for a nice refreshing beverage to start the day, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the coffee table is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
DECEMBER 18 -
---It's Answer the telephone like Buddy the Elf Day
(yeah right...what's your favorite color...got it)
---It's National Roast Suckling Pig Day
(that's a lot of pork on the hoof there)
*** Next, and since we have arrived at Tuesday, let's see all the FWPD calls that went out last week, that we really didn't hear anything about...and should have:
FWPD CALLS -

There is STILL always ONE asshole out there
*** Next up, Tis the season to rob the dealer that sold you those drugs. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20181216/brothers-charged-in-robbery
Young                        Snyder
((Dionta A. Young, 22, and Jesse Lee Snyder, 24, both of the same address in the 2000 block of East Tillman Road, were connected to the robbery Thursday just after midnight because Snyder dropped his state driver's license at the scene, court documents said.))
Talk about some serious dumbassery. And brothers at that. Must be nice to be a LOSER for the holidays. Guess STUPID has to run deep in that family.
Same baby-mama-different baby-daddy? Looks that way.
*** Next, W'fey had a little chore for me yesterday...changing out the dead batteries in some of her watches (I think she collects them like I collect action figures...lol).
Looks easy enough...
Not a problem, as I have obtained several sizes of the batteries needed to do the job (and have done it before in years past).
Now, the FIRST thing you have to remember about this task is that you have to remove the BACK of the watch in order to swap the battery. Again, pretty easy..>EXCEPT when there's no way to do it.
indentation there.
Usually, there is a slight indentation on the back, so you can insert a small tool to pop the back up enough to remove it. Well, NONE of the four watches had such an indentation (?!?).
That made things rather impossible, because there was no way in hell to get ANY tool under the lip of the back piece to pry it up. I tried those tiny (*precision) screwdrivers and even a razor blade, and nothing worked.
I wasn't about to risk lancing or slicing my fingers in the process, so after the better part of an hour, I called it quits,  This SHOULD have taken less than a half hour to change all four.
And that kinda honked me off, because I HAD the fresh batteries right in front of me. Talk about frustrating.
Plus, it ate well into my Christmas tree decorating and card sending time, so I'll try that stuff another go today.
*** Next up, let's drop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
"The lights are on...where's the ornaments?"
Our kids didn't do all that bad yesterday, and as usual, got a little curious when I brought the bins with the Christmas ornaments upstairs (yeah, we have THAT many ornaments, but we never use ALL of them. We rotate them out over the years).
":I claim this area for napping!"
Fortunately, they found a use for the bins as soon as I stacked them. It's an impromptu bed for napping. Or maybe they were protecting them (for me).
*** Next, time to check back in with "Midnight an Whiskers"...
"Is he missing another fine lunch?"
Our furry twosome stuck close by for most of the day, He went on patrol and missed lunch (typical), and she even ventured outside the gate, but came back for her eats.
"Hey, someone's gotta keep watch."
We did get treats-time in on the patio and yes, when Wifey got home, they both got more treats on the back step.
Spoiled? Nah...just duly cared for...a lot.
*** Last back to the junk drawer...part of the holiday season consists of frustration. No getting around it.
Have you ever had a Christmas where EVERYTHING went EXACTLY as planned? Probably not.
There are always those annoying things that pop up and usually when least expected.
And yes, sometimes even having a PLAN B might not get whatever job needs getting done.
(fortunately, there are lots more letters in the alphabet...lol)
What is important when things go awry (not just now, but the rest of the year) is how we DEAL with it.
Sometimes, it best to just walk away from it for a spell, and return later to try again. If that fails, then we move on.
No sense to beating dead horses, right?
Often, we recruit the help of those more experienced (like when it comes to home repairs).
One thing you always have to remember is that YOU have to learn to know YOUR limits.
(a paraphrase from a Clint Eastwood movie - Magnum Force).
To risk one's health OR safety (for anything)  is inviting disaster, and that's ONE chair at the holiday table I'm not willing to have filled.
So, lose the angst and set about to enjoying what this time of year really means.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Welcome to a day where last night's FB discussion on Mary and her place in Catholicism and the Bible drones on endlessly...

Good, no precip means no dog going batty wanting to lick said precip off the walks...

I hope I don't do many things like Will Farrell...

Wow- nothing in my immediate area- except the 2 thefts I saw on my e-mail. Likely package snatches. Nice job, scrooges!

"...dropped his drivers licence at the scene..." maybe you wanna do the drugs AFTER the robbery?

Watches=cars, make 'em un-maintainable so they'll buy more. Enough of that nasty "quality" stuff.

Chris:
---To be able to try and intellectually spar with those on FB makes you a MUCH better man than I.
---But there is ALWAYS that blooming algae, right?
(no thanks either)
---I think it's safe to say you most likely WON'T...heh.
(AND, you keep your dignity...I'd call that a win)
---Somehow, it wouldn't be Christmas (these days) w/o those who TAKE (from others)rather than give (of themselves). What a frigging world, right?
---ROFL...goes to show that there ARE some out there w/o the sense they were BORN with.
---Quality? WHAT quality? We tossed that out with the baby AND the bath water when we "changed over" to BATTERY-driven watches, instead of watches you had to WIND...and that lasted for DECADES.
The ONLY thing you had to swap out with THOSE were the BANDS, and that was easy enough (and cheap enough)!
(as for cars...well, you KNOW how I feel about that, too).
BATTERIES - the modern technological BANE to societies everywhere, hmm?

Hey, thanks for taking time to drop by and comment today.

Stay safe (and as battery-free as possible) up there, brother.
