Friday Follies...
It sure was nice out yesterday, and it sure won't be nice out today.
We're back into more "seasonal" weather, that's for sure.
Wifey said traffic was heavy, and  that's because at the first sign of good weather, everyone apparently think it's summertime again, and they can all go out and drive like idiots. I'm very cautious when that happens.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly sunny skies, temps only climbing to the mid-20s and no precipitation (but we have a little snow coming later this Sunday).
So, let's get the weekend started with a nice cup, glass, or mug of Friday Fortitude, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the freshly refrozen standing water is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
FEBRUARY 15 -
---It's National Caregivers Day
(and with us baby boomers not getting younger, we're gonna need them)
---It's National Gumdrop Day
(haven't had these in a long time)
---It's National No One Eats Alone Day
(I always do when Wifey's not around)
---It's National Wisconsin Day
(can you say "cheese"?)
---It's Singles Awareness Day
(this ought to pal up with the no one eats alone gig)
*** Next, and since the end of the week has arrived, let's see what we can observe over the following 48 hours...
FEBRUARY 16 -
---Saturday is National Almond Day
(I like these in ANY form)
---It's National Do a Grouch a Favor Day
(I will be at home...and waiting, just in case...LOL)
FEBRUARY 17 -
---Sunday is National Cabbage Day
(good thing there's no farting day following...heh)
---It's National Random Acts of Kindness Day
(it would be great to not have to remind people about this.)
And there you go...enough things to keep you busy and out of jail.
Just remember to always observe responsibly.
*** Next up, Kevin Leininger gives us a look at what makes people happy:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2019/02/14/kevin-leininger-what-makes-americans-happy-the-secularists-wont-like-the-answer/
I have to agree that one's belief and faith in God, along with prayer do indeed make life better. It certainly makes dealing with life's tribulations a lot less troublesome.
And couldn't we all use a bit LESS trouble in life?
(I see you nodding your heads)
*** Next, is it true that Valentine's Day spending could be record-breaking:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/02/14/valentines-day-spending-expected-to-reach-record-breaking-level/
Why spend on ONE day a year, when you can spread it out over the WHOLE year? I guess I will never figure that one out.
(besides, the "day after" candy sales are worth waiting for...lol)
*** Next up, it seems "we" need to market our REGION...her's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20190215/effort-unveiled-to-market-region
I didn't know that we HAD to attract talent to our area. I thought statistics spoke for themselves, and that people would naturally WANT to come here.
We're getting to a place where marketing is everything these days...like people can;t find out for themselves what is good and what is not. Used to be a time when we did just that - found out for OURSELVES (often through trial and error, which indeed builds character and teaches us about life experiences).
Guess people today prefer to be spoon-fed?
*** Next, let's drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
A "pre-manic" pose for the camera.
Our kids were again well behaved...until Wifey got home. Then, both of them just HAD to show mommy how good they can be by chasing one another about the house. It seems they like to undo all the good they've been in less than an hour.
As a side note, I did find one of the glitter balls...OUTSIDE in the flower bed next to the back door.
"You found my favorite glitter ball?"
How it got there...I've no idea, but if it wasn't for spending time with our community cats on the step, I would have not noticed it.
*** Next up, let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"My brother is missing lunch again."
Our furry twosome were really loving the warmer weather, and showed it by one of them missing lunch (guess who?).
We had both in attendance for breakfast and dinner, and we did the after dinner treat separately.
"Ppphhhbbbttt on you, "
Whiskers got her treats right away, but Midnight preferred to get his when Wifey arrived home when the sun went down.
No matter...they both get treats and that's the main thing.
*** Last back to the frozen water dish...you have to wonder what possesses some people these days.
There was a column by a liberal writer who mentions (for the most part) that ignoring our president is the way to get things done. Didn't stop our LAST president, did it? Executive Order Obama.
Yet, if that IS the case, then why bother HAVING a president?
The answer is simple - to make sure that no ONE part of our own government has too much power.
That's why we have THREE (branches): Executive, Legislative and Judicial.
Some would appear to want to "prune" those branches in some fashion. There are others who would want to embrace a more socialist stance,
We (here) simply cannot allow that. This is NOT want the founders envisioned when they created our government.
And yet, people today don't all want to bother with the FACTS pertaining to anything the government does (or does not do). They allow the media to drive the discussions with sound bites and non-contextual rhetoric, and such tactics lead to confusion(at best) and utter chaos (at worst).
We are not a perfect society, but we are doing a lot better than every other nation (that's why everyone wants to come hear any way they can).
But we can't rest on any laurels here. We ALL need to find the truth behind everything, and dare to question anything that seems to be the least bit questionable.
This is still OUR country, and all those in power are placed there BY "we the people".
They work for US, and never the other way around.
Do have a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today,, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I eat alone most of the time anyway.

"HELLO, WISCONSIN!" (That 70's Show fan)

Here's your favor- you can have my almonds lol!

Random acts of cabbage?

KL was more "glass half full" with his stats than I was...

Believe me, I learned from the surveys I take that regional marketing is big business.

Good close. Pandora never gets what's in the box until it's let loose.

---I know, right? So what's the deal with THIS observance?
I do my best praying when ALONE, too,...don't see a day for THAT, do we?
---I figured that. Wonder who your favorite character is?
---Okay, that works for me.
---LOL...random acts of CABBAGE (and St. Pat's day not too far off).
---I know you can glean stats until the cows come home, and still not find EVERYTHING (I think it's a plot).
---This regional marketing gig sure is serious $$$, but then where does that leave us? Obviously, these "geniuses" don't seem to give a rip.
---If you like this close (and it seems you did), then wait until Monday when I go through LOTS of that 1100+ page spending bill, and why it was not in the best interest of AMERICA to sign it.
(that should be fun, right?)

Thanks for stopping by today to comment.
Much appreciated.

Have a good weekend and may all of you stay safe (and blessed) up there, brother.

Okay I had to crack up at the singles awareness day. If you aren't aware that you are single if you are single, that might be scary. Because that means those other people in the room or voices in your head. LOL the weather has been crazy. That is for sure. I love your kitties! They are looking like they're ready for spring. Hope you had a happy BD!

---LOL! That's a MARVELOUS point you make. Besides, do you need anyone ELSE to make you aware?
I enjoy the voices in my head...they keep me from going rogue (and they like me (for the most part)...!
---Yeah, the cats are ready for anything but this weird weather (as are we humans).
---Any BD for me (in August) is happy because I'm still alive.

Thanks for rolling up and commenting.

Stay safe (and warm) down there, dear.
