Humpday Happenings...
And today, we begin what looks to be a springtime warmup...can't we just call this all off? I was liking that cooler weather.
At least we get another day without rain (crosses fingers).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly sunny skies, and a high around 70-72 degrees.
That's almost as hot as I would like it. When we start getting close to 80, then it gets more uncomfortable.
Anything above that, and I'm not planning on going anywhere I don;t really have to...end of subject.
Now, let's start the mid-week crisis known as Wednesday with a refreshing drink, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the ever-growing lawn is our "WHO SAID THAT?" quote for the week:
"I should know enough about loss to realize that you never really stop missing someone-you just learn to live around the huge gaping hole of their absence."
In lieu of recent events both near and far, I thought this most appropriate, and it's also something I've come to learn to live with more and more as the years go by.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at Laguna Beach, CA...
*** Next, let's see to our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MAY 15 -
Peace Officers Memorial Day
(remember the fallen)
National Chocolate Chip Day
(never met one I didn't like)
National Nylon Stocking Day
(got a leg up on that)
National Juice Slush Day
(we called them slurpies)
*** Next up...Want to find a way to screw up a decent outdoor mall in Fort Wayne?
Look no further:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/05/14/first-look-jefferson-pointe-shares-rendering-of-courtyard-remodel/
Well, that destroys the look of the place (imho).
Wonder how long after it's completion that we start hearing about vehicles being keyed and people struck by inattentive motorists?
I though it was supposed to be more "pedestrian-friendly"? Guess not.
*** Next up...on the heels of Doris Day's passing, we now have actor-comedian Tim Conway passing away at the age of 85.
Here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Conway
Now THIS is a long read, He was also a writer and director.
Geez, I grew up watching him on TV, first in the comedy McHale's Navy, and then as a regular on the Carol Burnett Show.
The characters he created would have you on the floor laughing.
Not bad for a boy from the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio.
It's weird to find that hardly any of the comedians from the golden or silver age are left any longer.
What passes for a comedian today can hardly even be called "comedic" in nature. What a shame that it's come to this.
Farewell, Tim...thanks for all the laughs over the years. It was a great ride.
*** Next...let's take a minute to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
""I haz to watch the outside for you."
Once again, our kids were taking things easy. You'd think with some sunshine, there would be stuff to see outside.
Not really, but that never stops the curious, does it?
"I'm always well-behaved, 'cause I'm CUTE."
Gallifrey and Violet were as well-behaved as could be, and I was wondering what they were up to...heh.
I'm sure it's nothing, but I did check where my credit cards were...just in case.
*** Next up, time to check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"What? I'm happy it's NOT raining."
Our furry twosome had a really good day, and they were here for both breakfast and dinner (they take lunch off, it seems).
"Is she showing off again?"
Still, it was nice to see them lounging on the walkway or patio as the day passed. Naturally, there were goth early morning AND evening backstep treats. My treat is seeing them both there.
*** Last back to the   Look out, because "Big Brother" is coming to your place, whether you LIKE it or NOT.
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/i-m-proposes-1175-rate-hike-installing-smart-meters/2002100224
Yes, our local I&M wants to install SMART METERS (for everyone)...looks like we don't have ANY say in the matter.
The utility has been "pushing" this for YEARS.
Do your own homework on this.
Read my archive posts from 29 JANUARY 2013 and 18 JULY 2013.for the lowdown on these meters...not what we need (or should want).
I&M says they want to install the smart meters to "better detect and respond to outages" Are you shitting me? Better detect outages?
I though when people call in and say: "YO, I'M IN THE DAMN DARK HERE!" and give their address, seemed to work well enough.
On top of this, the utility "wants" to jack UP your rate about 11.75 percent (to pay fotr all this crap).
Just another way we're all being manipulated...again.
((The new meters would also allow customers to montitor their energy use by the hour through a website or app.))
This ain't no "one-way" street.
Got news for you...if YOU can see this, THEY can also see this, and  monitor YOUR use (that you pay for).
A good way to "control" those who use more (and pay for it), and shunt it around to the government-sponsored crowd...it COULD happen.
The world we live in is becoming less about what WE want or even need.,..it's about what THEY (the powers that be) want and need, and it usually means them controlling us to some degree. That's inherently wrong.
Yet, somehow, there's little consolation for those of us wanting a life with FEWER problems, right?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

On the other hand- I took a 3.6 mile tour of Canterbury and PFW this morning...

"Huge gaping hole..." 'bout covers it...

JeffPt: I agree. If retail slowdown was affecting it, this brain dead plan will finish it off.

Tim C: No more need be said, you covered it.

Smart meters: Yeah, now you can call and tell 'em you're in the dark, and they'll say- in the words of our senior engineer- "I call BS." (And he's usually wrong, too.)

Chris:
---I would have loved to have had a place to walk after our cats passed, but there's not much close by us AT ALL any longer.
---I hear 'ya, my friend.
---EXACTLY...who thought this "plan" up oughta be dragged into the middle of that fountain and beat senseless. if they even had any sense to begin with. It WILL hurt J-P.
---A brilliant comedic individual.
---With smart ELECTRIC meters coming without our consent (along with the obligatory RATE HIKES), you just KNOW that NIPSCO will HAVE to follow suit.
Then, they have even more control over us...this is getting WAY outta hand. Insanity got another "bedfellow".

Hey, thanks for taking time to stop by and comment.

Stay safe and stay strong up there, brother.
