Thoughts For Thursday...
Okay, so we get part of a nice day...the rain IS coming (by tonight).
Tomorrow might well become a wash-out, as far as doing anything outside, so be mindful of that.
I hear some heavy rain is on the way, possibly hail overnight. That should be "fun".
(and the lawn keeps growing)
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly cloudy skies, temps rising to the mid-upper 70s (getting a might warm for my liking) and afternoon breezes. This evening...rain.
Now, let's get that comforting drink to start our day, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the patio is the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"I should know enough about loss to realize that you never really stop missing someone-you just learn to live around the huge gaping hole of their absence."
This was spoken by yet another newbie here, Alyson Noel (born December 3, 1966), who is an American author. And here is her (brief) WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alyson_Noël
It mainly focuses in her series of books. She seems a bit of a "free spirit", as we used to call people way back when. Here is her website:
http://www.alysonnoel.com/
She is a  #1 New York Times best-selling, award-winning, author of 23 novels, so she must be doing something right.
*** Next...time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MAY 16 -
Honor Our LGBT Elders Day
(why not just honor ALL our elders?)
Do Something Good for Your Neighbor Day
(I do...I haven't shot any of them...yet.)
National Love a Tree Day
(I love our little Japanese maple...that's it.)
National Piercing Day
(no...thank...you...!)
National Sea Monkey Day
(Oh, you mean THOSE monkeys...got it)
National Biographer’s Day
National Coquilles Saint Jacques Day
*** Next up...Naturally, with nice weather comes another shooting:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/shooting-on-sherman-blvd-leaves-one-in-serious-condition/2003206974
This took place early yesterday morning around 0645 hrs in the 2500 block of Sherman Blvd (between Goshen Av. and W. State Blvd.).
Police found a male inside the house suffering from a gunshot would. He was transported to hospital in serious condition.
(no suspects or arrests as usual).
Well, it's NOT on the SE side for a change (it's NW).
*** Next...And if it's not a shooting, it's a STABBING.
Here's the story link:
www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20190516/coroner-stabbing-killed-woman
A 75-year old woman is the city's SEVENTH homicide this year, and residents are concerned (as well they should be).
Sally Ann Duncan-Sanders died from multiple stab wounds.
The video HERE describes how neighbors feel:
https://wpta21.com/news/2019/05/14/woman-found-dead-covered-in-blood/
((Police and medics were called Tuesday to a home at 3020 Lincolndale Ave. – near Interstate 69, Goshen Road and Coliseum Boulevard – because of a medical event, investigators said, and found the woman's body covered in blood.))
I keep saying that such crimes ARE spreading all over the city.
*** Next up...And, yes...we're back to shootings, with this story:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/05/15/man-seriously-injured-in-shooting-on-plaza-dr/
This took place around 1800 hrs in the 5400 block of Plaza Drive ( back on the SE side this time).
A man walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound, and police tracked back to the scene where shell casings were found. The man is in serious condition, but was uncooperative with police. No suspects , of course.
*** Next...Time to dump the stupid, and drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
We had another great day with the "children" being very well-behaved.
"Outside is SO big!."
I did check, and my credit cards were NOT used lately...lol.
It's not that I miss them tearing through the house...I don't, but it's nice to see them settle down and just take things easy.
Believe me, they have plenty of energy to expend, and they find ways to work it off...like cat-wrestling.
"I iz just enjoying my napping."
Our Gallifrey loves to spend time at the windows, keeping watch over the property, while Violet might spend time on the ledge in the living room, or being cute on the dining room table (she keeps the chairs from getting away).
Sometimes, they just watch you (probably wondering what humans are all about). I do the same thing...with other humans (heh).
*** Next up...Let's do the daily check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"I haz MY spot to nap."
Our furry twosome spent almost all of the day staying close by the house. Both were here for lunch, and they naturally made the main meals of the day.
"I and I haz MINE..."
Between eats, it was time to catch up on some snoozing.
They did get back step treats morning and evening.
Guess the old "hand-held" routine has fallen by the wayside (for the time being).
*** Last back to the cat shelters...last Saturday was the USPS food drive.
This is where you leave a bag of non-perishable groceries at the mailbox for the carrier to pick up and send along to a local food bank.
And we are not ones to shirk helping those in need, so we had our bag ready to go.
What I prefer is take the bag TO the carrier when they come, because in our part of the ghettohood, it MIGHT get stolen (yeah, the locals do that sort of thing, and sometimes, even to one another).
It looks just like THIS.
But, I missed the carrier BECAUSE one neighbor HAS to park his damn work van in front of OUR house (along with several OTHER of his vehicles...couldn't see the mail truck come as a result.
It also looks like THIS.
Monday, I DID get to give the food to our carrier, so no problems there.
My REAL problem is how some people can park ALL these vehicles along our street (including TRAILERS) and get away with it.
MOST days, it looks like THIS.
I've tried contacting both NCE and Parking Control, but I'm not seeing any real progress. Granted, it IS a public street, but no one OWNS the whole block.
More workers stopping by.
If you have FIVE vehicles at ONE house, and your driveway is filled, plus, you have OTHERS comes over to load into that work van...MAYBE you shouldn't be living in an area that can't accommodate such traffic? Buy a damn FARM,  you moron!
When you see cars having to pull OVER to let oncoming traffic  pass by, that SHOULD clue everyone in that these streets are NOT (nor ever were) made for (true) TWO-WAY traffic, especially when parking is on both sides OF that street.
The city might want to look into things like THIS...rather than tossing money into the RiverfrontElectric Works, and other nonsensical projects that benefit too few and ignore too many.
Yeah, it's just a thought...isn't it?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Happy birthday to me... did the Red Lobster thing and got totally blasted by Laurie at mini-golf... which we both learned now takes way too much bending over too low to do without grandkids...

Rain is fine, I could use a walk-break.

"...mainly focuses on her series of books..." To put it mildly. Favorite book is Catcher In The Rye puts her on my, "avoid literary discussions" list, lol!

Tree: I've been hugging Big Guy lately...

Goshen/Coliseum: Hotel area. Not good.

Now we have that parking/stop to let others pass deal going on here, and you can easily tell who are neighborly, and let you pass, and people from the additions, who'd as soon run you down.

---I knew your r'day was coming (now I know the SPECIFIC day). Happy Birthday, buddy.
---Yeah, they need to make those putters with MUCH LONGER shafts!
---Bring the rain (and cooler temps).
---LMAO...never thought of that. Guess I need to go back and read her ENTIRE bio...?
---If I hugged our Jap Maple, I"d snap the bugger...I just wave at it.
---Usually isn't in that neck o' the woods.
---Yeah, when that stuff isn't addressed, it SPREAD like the societal disease it has become.
(we need a vaccine for THAT).
It's crazy out there...and getting crazier.
(starting to remind me of Philly, only without Tastykakes, great pizza, hoagies and scrapple)

Thanks for stopping on by and commenting.

Stay safe (and keep dry) up there, brother.
