Friday Follies...
Well, at least we're NOT looking at some atrocious conditions outside THIS morning.
The city actually cancelled leaf pickup yesterday (we already had ours picked up LAST week).
Personally, I would have cancelled HALF the day (until all that crap ice went away).
I had to toss some rock salt on the pavement between the back steps and garage so Wifey wouldn't slip (I've walked in and on worse...or should I say SLID along...lol).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us cloudy skies, temps rising to about 35 degrees, and a light breeze, just to make you feel colder.
So, let's get the day started with a hot cup of Friday Fortitude, as we see what has been (and will be) going on elsewhere...
*** First off of the stove is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
NOVEMBER 16 -
---It's National Button Day
(make sure never to lose YOURS...heh)
---It's National Fast Food Day
(and Wifey's "cooking"...ROFL)
---It's National Indiana Day
(FINALLY...so what's the deal anyway?
*** Next, and since the end of the week has arrived, let us take a look at what we can observe over the following 48 hours...
NOVEMBER 17 -
---Saturday is National Adoption Day
(Being adopted means someone CARES)
---It's National Baklava Day
(haven't had that in a LONG time)
---It's National Homemade Bread Day
(a friend's mom used to make some AWESOME bread)
---It's National Take a Hike Day
(I tell that to everyone in OUR area, and in the voice of Beetlejuice)
NOVEMBER 18 -
---Sunday is the Mickey Mouse Birthday
(looking good for his age)
---It's National Princess Day
(let the little girls be little girls, I say)
---It's National Vichyssoise Day
(a COLD soup, but a tasty one)
And there we have it...lots of things to take note of.
Just remember to ALWAYS observe responsibly.
*** Next up, from our Special Kind of Stupid Department we have this:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2018/11/14/state-police-pumpkin-thrown-from-overpass-smashes-windshield/
I'm not smiling one damn bit.
Not only is that STUPID...it's pretty damn DANGEROUS.
Thankfully, the woman in the car as not killed.
You tell 'em, pup.
Police need to catch this jerk and toss a few books at him (or her).
Nothing funny about this AT ALL.
*** Next, I guess there still is a 1st time for everything:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2018/11/15/ice-storm-causes-fort-wayne-community-schools-to-close-in-november-for-first-time-in-20-years/
A shame. If Wifey still worked for them, she'd have had a day OFF WITH PAY.
I will say that for once, FWCS took the side of caution, rather than stay open and place kids at risk (as they tend to do).
*** Next up, another "OOPS" moment from the utility company. Here;'s the story:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2018/11/14/gas-line-bursts-forcing-neighbors-to-evacuate-their-homes/
This took place in the 6900 block of Baswin Cove (NW above Smith Field)
Wish to hell these guys who dig around the city would take the time to CHECK where the damn gas lines are...,save a LOT of hassle.
This is becoming all too common with these crews.
*** Next, country music legend, Roy Clark has passed away at the age of 85.
Here's the story:
http://www.cmt.com/news/1801082/roy-clark-dies-at-85/
And here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Clark
I really enjoyed his music and man, could he play a guitar...and banjo...AND fiddle.

(Here he is with the late Jimmy Dean)
Not gonna be the same without hearing him any longer.
(thank God for vintage TV shows on obscure cable channels)
*** Next up, time to swing on by our "Kitten Corner"...
Just keeping your seat warm, daddy.
The kids have a very special day coming up (on Monday), but don't tell them. We want it to be a surprise.
They were both pretty good yesterday, and with little running about.
Violet and Gallifrey tried to watch some birds,. but even they didn't come out in the bad weather.
(plus, the feeder was empty - note to self there)
And I'm just being cute (as usual).
And there are THREE words that get them "busy"...Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner (aka din-din)...and "treats".
Okay, that's FOUR words.
They do look forward to the routine.
*** Next, let's do our daily check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Well, someone used the shelter.
Our furry twosome did not become the frozen twosome yesterday, and we broke with tradition, and provided more WET food (at room temperature) to warm them up.
Suffice it to say, it was VERY well received.
As a result, they were here for all three meals (and hand held treats).
They also have a routine, and I think they look forward to it as much as I look forward to seeing them each and every day.
Nothing wrong with such familiarity, is there?
*** Last back to the oven...well, Red River has overcome (this week anyway) their  "aversion": to picking up our trash on the appointed day of the week.
Yesterday, trash pickup was around 1315 hrs, and would you believe it, less than 15 minutes later, recycle came through and grabbed that? Astonishment became the word of the afternoon (for me).
Simply A-Frigging-Mazing!
Let's hope they can MAINTAIN this...one day does not a changed mind make.
Also, we're standing at the door of Thanksgiving, and as a preface to that, let me say that we (as in ALL of us) should take time daily to realize just HOW thankful we truly are.
Aside from the hectic and stupid that's running rampant in our world today, it only take a minute to pause and reflect on what we have to be thankful for.
So, let's just not limit such things to a particular day.
Rather let's all make it a daily occurrence. We'll be better off in the long run , trust me.
Do have yourselves a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Natl Fast Food- you soundeth akin to Tim Taylor, sir...

Indiana day- on 11-16, the date most likely to be consistantly crappy at all times and all places statewide...

Take a hike- er, not today...

Gas leak- now did they call the number and it was a line missed on the maps? Or did the gas company perhaps fall down on THEIR job? It might be interesting to hear the rest of the story...

Roy Clark: I even played Yesterday When I was Young before typing up TM and STILL forgot to mention it! Hopefully Nardole will remind me next Thrusday...

Alll right we restart the RR counter at 2-for-2...

---I have to confess that at times, I FEEL like Tim Taylor...heh.
(just wish I had "Wilson" over MY fence)
---Did you actually LOOK that UP?
I ask because it sounds SO right to me.
---Yeah, a bit cold and moist (thawing out) day. Sloppy walking out there.
---That's what I can NEVER understand. When our backyard was torn up for the sewer drain, our workers called the city BEFOREHNAD when they came across a (hard) gas line that was capped off and not in use, But it was NEVER hit or broken. City guy came out, confirmed it and everyone signed off on it before work recommenced.
Guess OUR workers are better than the utility companies?
---Looks like you're a PICKIN' and Nardole's a GRINNIN'...lol.
---Yeah, and I was working on SO many good memes...oh well.
(To quote Rhodey from Iron Man: "Next time, baby.")

Thanks much for spending some time here today and commenting (hop you liked the video).

Have yourselves a good weekend.

And stay safe up there, brother.

Momma Fargo:
---Yep, we got ice, but not enough to be a MAJOR pain-in-the-ass.
The city got it's crap together and brined up the roads enough, but all the damn schools closed (wusses...lol)

At least it kept the "crims" quiet for a spell...heh.
---WOW...sorry to hear about your neighbor's roof.
(that's definitely gonna cost some $$$)
There's always a price to pay when you have trees around for shade..beware of the down side.

Thank you for taking time to roll on up today and comment.
Always a pleasure.

Have a good weekend & stay safe down there, dear.
