Thoughts For Thursday...
Okay, let's review - a winter weather advisory, sleet, freezing rain, some snow later, school closings and delays, and several traffic accidents (and it's not even 0700 hrs)...sounds more like JANUARY than November, doesn't it
Well, to say you should take care driving or even going down your steps and sidewalks seems like  overstating the obvious, but do practice safety anyway...you'll be happy you did.
Our Hoosierland weather today brings us much of the aforementioned conditions, along with cloudy skies, temps rising to only around 34 degrees, and yes, some snow accumulation by midday (when this is SUPPOSED to end).
So, let's all brace ourselves for the day ahead with a nice big mug of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the salt truck is the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"The Internet is just bringing all kinds of information into the home. There's just a lot of distraction, a lot of competition for the parent's voice to resonate in the children's ears.a"
This was spoken by none other than Phillip Calvin McGraw (born September 1, 1950), but you know him as Dr. Phil. He's an American television personality, author, psychologist, and the host of the television show Dr. Phil, which debuted in 2002
And here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_McGraw
He is the 15th highest earning celebrity in the world...how's that for success?
It's a rather lengthy read, and (imho) covers more of his personal life than professional, but it's still worth the time, if you're interested.
*** Next, let's take a look at our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
NOVEMBER 15 -
---It's America Recycles Day
(I know WE do, even it gets picked up days later...lol)
---It's (another) Great American Smokeout
(yeah, like I'm gonna make that happen any time soon)
---It;s National Rural Health Day
(wonder how this differs from URBAN health day?
---It's National Bundt (Pan) Day
(screw the pan, gimme the CAKE)
---It's National Philanthropy Day
(we could use a lot more of these)
---It's National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day
(no more "mystery foods" and science experiments)
---It's National Spicy Hermit Cookie Day
(these look pretty good, and I think I might have had these ages ago)
---It's National Raisin Bran Cereal Day
(well, I've bran flakes and raisins...sounds like a plan)
*** Next up, in spite of the craptastic weather outside today, there's some good news when you stop at the gas pumps)
https://www.wane.com/news/national-world/oil-prices-drop-for-12th-straight-day-bringing-more-relief-at-the-pump/1594695701
A little bit of "sunshine" on a nasty day. Just don't become a shooting victim because some mooks had a bad drug deal...be aware of your surroundings (including the people).
*** Next,  from the Only In the Socialist Republik of Kalifornia department cmes this:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2018/11/14/police-woman-beat-mcdonalds-manager-over-ketchup/
Looks like others are learning from the low-information blacks these days
All this bullshit over stinking KETCHUP? I mean WTH is this world coming to when people act in such a reprehensible manner?
*** Next up, an update on the Kroger gas station shooting:
https://wpta21.com/uncategorized/2018/11/13/shoppers-dont-feel-safe-after-double-shooting-at-popular-plaza-victim-idd/
Yes, crime CAN happen anywhere, especially in places where it didn't USE to occur. Wonder WHY that is?
(crime's been allowed to spread all over the city, that's why, thanks to government-sponsored lowlifes)
These people up north are just NOW finding out what WE have had to deal with for the last couple decades on the SE side. Welcome to the ":club", kids.
*** Next, from the Department of the Ridiculous comes this gem:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/2018/11/13/purdue-report-climate-change-will-impact-indiana-tourism/
Good thing the climate DOES change, otherwise we'd never have a PLANTING or HARVEST season, would we, folks?
BTW, that CO2 (aka greenhouse gas) helps FEED everyone, because ALL the damn PLANTS depend on it.
And these experts worry about TOURISM? Seriously?
If they really mean "global warming", then why don't you "experts" try and make the Earth stop wobbling on it's axis,  or keep the Sun from getting hotter. Maybe you can keep the moon from moving AWAY from the Earth..
All THAT stuff has been PROVEN. It's really happening.
Yeah, go put your little insipid primate minds to work on THOSE.
*** Next up, rime to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
A clean paw is a happy paw.
The kids did okay and were busy doing as little as possible, with the exception of acting cute.
We had a small bout of running about after dinner, but I suppose that was to run off the food.
"Peek-a-boo. I see you."
All you have to do is shout "HEY!", and they stop quickly enough.
After that, they settle back down, and live goes on.
*** Next up, let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Patrol...or NOT patrol?
Our furry twosome spent another day close by our home, and we even had the wet food away from under the patio table.
WAY too easy a choice.
He was thinking of doing a patrol, but I think he decided otherwise with it being colder than it has been.
Yeah, it's MUCH better to stay close by.
She just huddled in a nest of leaves (as he also did), and treats time was enjoyed right after dinner
And every day has THREE tasty reasons.
(because the sun sets so early now).
Today should be interesting with the weather.
*** Last back to the trash bins...I can only imagine  that our trash (and now recycle) might not be picked up today (due to the weather, no doubt).
Last week - a day late.
I hope that's not the case, but Red River HAS been a bit on the "allergic" side when it comes to our usual THURSDAY pickups over the last couple months.
And yes, the weather will have a lot to do with most everything today, especially traffic/
At least, we did get a leaf pickup before this all hit.
But the fact that we got this kind of weather kind of early will no doubt catch a lot of people off-guard.
The weird thing is that this stuff came at us from the SOUTH (rather than northwest).
Now, I said all that to say this...today's world is about control.
It's the way WE are manipulated, or nudged into a specific direction or to go along with certain specificities that others wish from us. Thing is, those things might not be what WE want, or even in our best interest.
And there's where the DISTRACTIONS come into play. If we're otherwise busy dealing with distractions, we might not be aware of how we ARE being "corralled" into changing our lievs in ways we didn't expect (or even need).
If anything, we really need to have control over OURSELVES (before anyone else).
Try it...you'll like it.
That's all too obvious, and should be relatively easy for many.
Maintaining focus on whatever task we have at hand will net us results more in tune with how we need to live.
(and not how others want us to live)
There's something to think about.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Blogger is doing some funny shit tonight- can't access my reading list, can't get on just today's page of yours... But I am here, so appreciate me while we still can...

They still do great American smokeouts? Sure don't hear much about them...

Aaahhhhhyeah... a little bit too much over fricking ketchup...

Hey, c'mon... these climate changers are the good people who gave us california's flammable forests...

You know, one thought I had this morning was... I sure wouldn't want to work for RR on a morning like this....

Chris:
---Blogger NEVER ceases top amaze me (read pisses me off) at random.
---Well, they're taxing the hell OUIT of ciggies (and tobacco in general, so the numbers are lower. Guess they forget that some of the MAJOR players in the founding and growth of this nation had something to do with tobacco...ergo, money in the coffers (no pun intended...heh).
---I definitely agree, but then again, WAY back in the late 90s (at the BK over at Southgate) a black guy got into it with the kitchen help (who came to the aid of his manager) over a sandwich. Tore up the place, before the perp left and the police came. No pleasing SOME people.
---We had those CA forests for a WHILE< but all of a sudden...it's become the domain of "Johnny Flame"...has to be PEOPLE causing it, rather than the climate. Or, perhaps it's part of "God's judgment"?
(I like the latter, personally)
---Oh, I've got an update on RR tomorrow, so be sure to stay tuned.

---Guess we are being watched after all...HA!
(Good. Maybe those monitoring us might LEARN something for a change).

Hey, thank a lot for taking the time to swing by and comment.

Stay safe (and ice-free) up there, brother.
