Monday Musings...
There's nothing like a nice rainy weekend to louse up all the plans you've been trying to make, is there?
Hey, it could have been snow, right?
Don't stash the umbrella yet, either...we've more rain coming (you sure this is November?).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies (sunshine's been at a premium so far this month), temps rising to about 55 degrees, and showers moving back in after sunset (which is an hour EARLIER, if you changed back all your clocks and watches).
At least breezy conditions are cleaning all the leaves off our sidewalks (always the optimist).
Now, what say we get that warming cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa made as we set off into another week-long adventure, hmm?
*** First off of the leaf pile is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
NOVEMBER 5 -
---It's Color the World Orange Day
(isn't someone going to bitch if any of us go out in "orange face"?)
---It's Job Action Day
(don't tell the retired - tell the young black males around here who DON'T want to work!)
---It's National Doughnut Day
(and me without a Dunkin Donuts or proper bakery to be found near us)
---It's National Love Your Red Hair Day
(no "gingers" to be found down here, that's for SURE...lol)
*** Next up, it's also a special day across the pond...it's Guy Fawkes Day
And here's some background if you want or need a refresher course:
https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/uk/guy-fawkes-day
Yeah, the 2005 movie V For Vendetta (based on the graphic novels) attends to this person from the past quite well.
It talks about how a corrupt government induces fear with it's citizens, and sometimes, the only way to break such a cycle is to rebel.
Granted, the main character does this in a most violent manner, but you have to admit that the point IS made rather well.
One quote is worth remembering: "People should not be afraid of the government. Government should be afraid of the people."
And by that, it means that the REAL power comes from those who elect the ones put into office.
They work for US (and not the other way around). They are civil "servants".
*** Next,  I was messing about with digging into the climate change deal, because I read a story last week about how the oceans were getting warmer (causing fish to migrate farther north.
I did come across some very interesting stuff:
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/01/proof_that_the_manmade_global_warming_theory_is_false.html
And, here are 100 reasons why climate change is natural:
https://forums.tesla.com/forum/forums/100-reasons-why-climate-change-natural-and-not-manmade
This forum was found on the TESLA (car maker) forum...who knew? Of all places, right?
And yes,  there are biblical aspects to this:
https://answersingenesis.org/environmental-science/climate-change/is-man-the-cause-of-global-warming/
You decide.
Personally, I think it's another MILANKOVITCH CYCLE at work.
*** Next up, time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
The kids had a pretty good weekend.
It's the FWF - Feline Wrestling Federation.
We had a bit of wrestling, some meals, some napping, following daddy around, and a little bit of raucous behavior (but nothing that can;t be halted with a handy laser pointer).
We're all wrestled out now.
We also had more birds come to the feeder, so you know that wasn't overlooked by our cats.
There was even a woodpecker in the tree right outside the patio.
It's nice to have something good going on to break up the monotony on a  "damptastic" day.
*** Next, let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Up on the garage window ledge
Our furry twosome had to once again dodge the raindrops for a good part of the weekend.
Wow...it's NOT raining for a change.
We did manage to get some regular feedings in, but we also had to have them eat UNDER the patio table when it rained.
As usual, Midnight was missing for lunch (once), and Whiskers went missing for th better part of Sunday, but came back in time for dinner and hand-held treats (they never miss that).
These leaves are comfy.
I did notice Midnight limping a little on the same leg he hurts over a year ago. Nowhere near as bad, but maybe the colder weather is bugging him like it does with me. I can relate to that.
Still, we'll keep tabs on him...because we love him.
And yes, we also love her, too, even when she climbs up on the top of the fence and does a "Wallenda" thing.
Hey, lookit where I am!
Please, no aerial stunts. Leave it to the "professionals"...lol..
*** Last back to the trash bin...why has it seemingly become easier to be lied to these days?
It's like people want to be lied to...they pretty much expect it.
Sadly, they often fall for the lie, rather than take time to find some truth.
Yes, truth isn't in such abundance as it used to be, and by that I mean we have to dig a bit deeper for it.
It still exists, that will never change (thank God), but it takes more work on our part to uncover it.
The purveyors of all the lies have been doing THEIR work, too. They've been creating layers of falsehoods to keep the truth from us.
And, it doesn't matter what arena you find yourself...lies are all over.
In education, at work, in politics (definitely), and yes, even in religion.
In fact, life in general is full of deception and obfuscation, and those of us who take the time and effort to find the truth have one other job ahead of us - that is to spread the truth.
Just as lies are spread about, truth also need to be available to everyone.
But the main difference is this: Lies will only serve to shackel your mind, while the truth STILL will set you free.
That should be a very easy choice to make for anyone...the only choice.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Spealing of Tesla -this article over on Coyote Blog is an eye-opener.

"Tesla Is A Finely Crafted Machine for Sucking Money Out of Taxpayers' Pockets"

---That does NOT surprise me one bit.
Seems everything and (damn near) everyone is getting some sort of "subsidy" these days...
WHERE THE HELL IS OURS? LOL.
---Makes me wonder who exactly is behind all this in D.C.?
DO we really need an ELECTRIC car that is powered (actually) by FOSSIL FULES (from the power plants supplying the electricity)???
To me, that makes little to no sense at all.
---And we can't go and cover the planet with SOALR PANLES, either...where the hell will we PARK?
I only want the car makers to give me a ring when they give us MR. FUSION retro kits...not before.
(Doc Brown would approve)

Hey, thanks for stopping by and commenting.
(good link)

Stay safe out there.

Well, I have a great excuse for missing... God had me working on the Bible study for Wednesday that I had put NO prep into...

ORANGE? He said, No...

Job action? No idea here...

Donuts, though, I have a good idea of...

Climate change: All you have to hear to realize it's BS is how the Tysons of the world run around going, "Settled science!" A: no such thing. B: what are you trying to hide?

Wonderful memes for the close.

Chris:
---Well now...THAT will do it EVERY time!
---And I also said "no".
---Every job I held was due to my OWN actions.
---I'm going through doughnut withdrawal down here (among other foods).
---YES...NO science is ever REALLY "settled" because we are discovering more about science every year. And all the theories are just that - THEORIES.
Science requires proof...always has and always will.
Yeah, once in a while the memes cooperate with what I'm trying to say...lol.
(that's why I save a ton of 'em)

Thanks for catching me up here and commenting.

Stay safe (and "sciencey") up there, brother.
