Thoughts For Thursday...
I have to day that THIS weather feels a lot more "Novembery".
Could do without those gusty winds we had yesterday...made it feel colder than it really was.
And I believe I heard the word "snow" in our forecast over the next few days.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, temps trying to reach the mid-40s, and that's all she wrote.
Let's take this time to get ourselves a nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, as we take a look at what else has been going on...
*** First off of the bedspread is the answer to our WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"God is not troubled by one who is conservative or liberal, and He certainly never inclines His ear toward a donkey or an elephant."
This was attributed to another newbie here, one Max Lucado (born January 11, 1955) who is a best-selling Christian author, writer and preacher at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas. And here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Lucado
It's a short read, but a good quote doesn't mean you have to have an extensive Wikipedia entry...does it?
He's not without controversy, though, as most Christians seem to be in times like these, due to his (extreme) views on gay rights.
But perhaps his concerns (from a biblical perspective) are both valid and justified. Decide for yourselves.
*** Next ip, time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?' feature:
NOVEMBER 8 -
---It's National Cappuccino Day
(just give me COFFEE...plain and simple.)
---It's National Harvey Wallbanger Day
(I'm surprised I don't have one or more of these DAILY living down here in the crotch of Fort Wayne)
---It's National Parents As Teachers Day
(shouldn't this take place EVERY day for their children?)
---It's National STEM-STEAM Day
(yeah, how's that been working out for all concerned?)
*** Next,  courtesy of law-enforcement, we bring you yet another drug raid on 4th st.
Here's the story link:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/federal-agents-fbi-swat-conduct-drug-raid-on-4th-street/1578537457
This took place at a house located at 636 W. 4th St. around 0600 hrs yesterday.
This was a multi-agency raid (got to be a good reason when the FEDS get involved).
Not much else is known at this time (damn shame).
*** Next up, it looks like the "locals"  here are back to doing what they do best - shoot people.
Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20181108/1-hurt-in-shooting-near-south-side-high
This took place along Packard Av near the South Side high school natatorium around 1500 hrs yesterday. Gee, right around the time school lets out. How callous (and dangerous) that was.
One person in an SUV was shot by someone in a maroon car. The person shot was listed in serious condition. As usual, there are NO arrests or suspects or motive.
*** Next, the state of Michigan legalizes recreational pot use. Here's the story:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2018/11/07/michigan-voters-legalize-recreational-marijuana-use-becoming-the-first-in-the-midwest-to-do-so-2/
This "bud's" for YOU.
At least NOW we know what ALL those urban farms will be growing...LOL.
(and we also know where a LOT of our locals will be frequenting)
Sorry, that will not bring back the luster that Detroit once had one damn bit.
But, it might well contribute to the overall decline of that city...if they can manage to slip any further down the crapper.
*** Next up...here we go again with more of this "art" downtown:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/11/07/sculpture-latest-example-of-public-art-in-downtown-fort-wayne/
I mean, you CAN climb on this, right?
Are we ever going to get something this is REALLY artistic? Or will we have to settle for this stuff?
(looks more like some worker installing a set of monkey bars was enjoying some of that "recreational marijuana")
*** Next...All I have to say about THIS story is: "Go get 'em, girls!". Here's the link:
https://www.wfft.com/content/news/499961132.html
Yes, the GIRL scouts are suing the BOY scouts (that can;t be good) over copyright infringement, and apparently, it's been ongoing for some time (before the BSA even starting accepting girls...go figure).
That's what you get whenever idiots kick snowballs down mountains...a mess at the bottom.
*** Next up, time to stop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
Good spot for bird-watching.
The kids were once again pretty calm, considering we had a decent day outside.
We had a few birds stop by the feeder (not long enough to get pictures), so that kept our cats occupied.
Yes, a very good spot.
Then, it was back to a bit of play, a bit of napping and bit of eating.
There are times when I envy those two.
*** Next, let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Getting ready for another neighborhood watch.
Our furry twosome had themselves a good day...they were BOTH MIA for lunch, but they were quite hungry when dinnertime rolled around (it as Wet Food Wednesday). And we got some hand held treats time in,
Whiskers take a walk "on the boardwalk"
I wanted to feed them on the back steps, but Midnight had up and left, so Whiskers got her fill.
You have to BE there to get the treats. Doesn't get any easier than that.
*** Last back to the comfy quilt...Time for the city to earn it's keep.
Heading north
Coming back south.
We got another pass from the leaf "pickup" crew (all TWO of them) yesterday, and I have to say that after they passed by, we pretty much had the SAME amount of leaves along our curb-strip that we had BEFORE they came...
I mean WTH?
Looks the SAME before they came
I watched the one guy "rake" stuff off the curb and (dare I say it?) INTO THE STREET (where we're all told NOT to rake the leaves).
The vacuum guy followed up and sucked the stuff from the gutter.
It was even better LAST year.
Seems each year, the leaf pickup gets less and less "attention". I years past we have about FOUR guys cleaning things up, and they did a MUCH better job. Then again, this IS the SOUTHEAST side (where apathy reigns and stupidity holds court).
And that brings me to the NEW trash/recycle pickup schedule.
The postcard is sort of straight forward (as far as trash pickup goes)...our day REMAINS the same - Thursday (hey, that's TODAY).
But the RECYCLE schedule is a bit more confusing.
They used LIGHT BLUE lettering to denote our "week", which is WEEK B. Sounds easy enough, but hen you look at the card, the weeks highlighted in LIGHT BLUE are the "A" weeks... (...WTF???...) I know, right?
SO, what is someone to do? That would mean we have to go THREE weeks from our last recycle pickup, and that's not gonna flush, because we plan for TWO weeks and our bin is full. Granted less than 40% of residents down here even bother to recycle (include us in that number), so I guess that means  another week won;t make a difference.
It WILL to those of us that DO recycle. Seems every time the city gets involved, thigns get messed the hell up.
Wow, sounds kinda TYPICAL, doesn't it?
In any event, I've got our bins out, and if we get a miss, I'll *311* it in tomorrow,
Yeah, living in Fort Wayne is always wonderful, especially if you're "fortunate" enough to dwell on the SE side of town.
(ROFLMAO!)
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Ah, Max. I wasn't far off, was I?

A lot of "a-list" Pastors are allegedly "controversial" for staying to the Word's line on LGBT. Another is the late Adrian Rodgers. Still another example is how much Robert Jeffres was bashed in doing the invocation for the Jerusalem embassy because he is "an anti-gay bigot". Didn't know you could be a bigot for opposing perversion, but so the life we live nowadays.

STEM/STEAM: Hadda look that one up. Theres fifteen seconds of my life I coulda been reading your blog instead...

4th St: Well, if they didn't use napalm, the problem's still there...

They should concentrate the legal pot in the Flint area, so they don't mind the water so much.

Art: Well, that's the payment to the piper for "apreciating" stuff like Picasso and Warhol...

Girl Scouts: Next: Badges for "camping at SCOTUS"...

Leaf pickup: Well, at least now we know where Red River got their recruits...

---I told 'ya you were in the ballpark. I shoulda said in the "right church pew"...heh.
Yeah...I will say that CONTROVERSY sure ain't what it USED to be (and that's a sad commentary on society).
---I know...another program costing lots of moolah that doers as little as possible to too few. Sound about right?
---I prefer RDX myself...and I don't think they really ALLOW Napalm to be used any longer (damn shame).
---LOL...now that is the BEST plan I've heard of for that city. You would make a GREAT "communicator".
---Helluva price, but I wouldn't mind being 10 years old again and climbing that bugger...HA!
---They probably already have such a plan in place.
---ROFL...Man, that...was...BRILLIANT!!!
(applause of one commences)
You are in fine form.

Thanks for stopping by and passing along some laughter with your comment.

Stay safe (and jovial) up there, brother.
