It looks like we have a fairly decent weekend staring us in the face, after the last remnants of yesterday's rain moves along.
But it won't all be great...Sunday looks like more rain coming our way.
At least there's no snow in the forecast (I stowed the shovels until winter).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly cloudy skies, temps reaching the 60 degree mark and some drying out from Thursday's wetness. I think we can hang on to this for a bit.
So, let's get that cup, glass or mug of Friday Fortitude poured and parked close by, as we see what else has been (and will be) going on...
*** First out of the cupboard is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
APRIL 5 -
---It's National Flash Drive Day
(this does not mean to flash someone while driving...got it?)
---It's National Caramel Day
(yeah, it's a keeper)
---It's National Deep Dish Pizza Day
(we called this "Sicilian" style back in Philly)
---It's National Go For Broke Day
(just don't go broke getting there)
---It's National Nebraska Day
(give 'em a wave)
---It's National Raisin and Spice Bar Day
(keep the granola)
---It's National Read a Road Map Day
(remember when gas stations used to GIVE them away?)
*** Next, and since the end of week has arrived, let's see what we can observe over the following 48 hours...
APRIL 6 -
---Saturday is National Sorry Charlie Day
(yeah, sorry. I get the store brand, but you get to live)
---It's National Caramel Popcorn Day
(I actually have this one covered)
---It's National Love Our Children Day
(try telling that to Indiana's abusers)
---It's National Student Athlete Day
(where's the participation trophies?)
---It's National Tartan Day
(wear it if 'ya got it)
---It's National Teflon Day
(I think this is being surpassed by newer coatings on pans)
---It's New Beer's Eve
(time for a cold one, I guess)
APRIL 7 -
Sunday is National Coffee Cake Day
(did someone say "cake"?)
---It's National Girl, Me Too Day
(I suppose having a male equivalent day is out of the question)
---It's National Hand Made Day
(Which has nothing to do with the Handmaid or her "tale")
---It's National No Housework Day
(isn't that EVERY Sunday?)
---It's National Beer Day
(again, isn't that EVERY Sunday?)
And there you go...PLENTY of stuff to take note of. Just remember to please, always observe responsibly.
*** Next up, I did not know the "circus" was in town, did you?
https://www.wane.com/news/crime/police-look-for-would-be-robber-wearing-clown-mask/1900033794
The attempted robbery took place at Partner's 1st Credit Union located at 5020 Riviera Court (near Northcrest Shopping Center) around 1130 hrs yesterday morning.
A robber, wearing a CLOWN mask trying to get into a locked door, pulled out a gun and shot the door. (whatta Bozo)
(note: not the perp) |
Police are still looking for a gun-toting clown.
Well, we have LOADS of clowns down here with (illegal) guns, but none of them are wearing masks.
*** Next, it's Friday w/ Kevin Leininger and his column:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2019/04/04/kevin-leininger-does-the-city-have-a-debt-problem-the-answer-is-in-the-eye-of-the-beholder/
This is good because of the arguments from both Republican mayoral candidates. Lots of decent information here, and yes, depending on your perspective, the city of Fort Wayne is either doing GOOD...or BAD.
*** Next up, time to stop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
Not EXACTLY "American Gothic", is it? |
As cute as Violet is, she is often the instigator of the whole house running thing, because I see HER chasing HIM.
Gallifrey will also start some stiff, too. I catch him chasing her around from time to time.
And naturally, they BOTH have to play "follow Daddy", which can become a chore for me, when I have to watch where I walk.
*** Next, let's do our check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"The food is here and so am I." |
Midnight was under a nearby pine tree while Whiskers took to a shelter when it was raining.
"I know. This is great, right?" |
Then, it was time to take it easy (before more rain rolled through overnight).
*** Last back to the kitchen sink...I must say that when the city chooses to act on something, they do a pretty fair job of it.
Remember those vehicles that were "left" along our streets recently? Well, after a call into "311", Parking Control got to work, and did a flatbed job on the gray Durango.
As for the other ones down our street?
Both vehicles WERE finally moved. The minivan was driven elsewhere (probably the driveway), while the Caprice had to be PUSHED by the residents back up into their driveway (where it was pushed FROM back on 26 January.
I must say it was quite humorous to see what people reap after their actions.
C'mon boys, put your BACKS into it! |
You'd think with ALL the black males down there (who never work), they'd be up for doing SOMETHING that required strength...nope, sorry. Those subsidies don't include physical fitness (that's what JAIL is for...lol).
In any event, the street is clear once again (for the time being).
The city also regraded our rut-filled alley the other day, which will last a couple months before the locals zoom up and down it and tear it back up.
A band-aid on a broken leg. |
So, things CAN work out, if just one person chooses to not settle for what everyone else apparently is content to settle for.
If it pisses some folks off...GOOD - they need a nice swift kick in their "apathy", because normal people don't need or should ever want to live in squalor.
And that's all I have to say on that matter.,,for now.
Do have yourselves a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Well, got volunteered off this Friday, too. Getting better, but not good yet.
Now there are SOME that may still be allowed to "flash drive"... use good judgment, ladies.
I need a slight pizza break. I have a meatball concoction I'm still working on from last night.
Sorry Charlie Saturday... know what tomorrow's catch phrase will be!
Love our children- got that covered EVERY day.
Tartan- well, I have Idlewild at #1, is that good enough?
New Beers eve: HA! Just bought a "selection 6" at Kroger with 3 GMs, a Banana Bread, and three newbies to try out!
Hey, let's shift these beer days to friday and Saturday... Mondays are miserable with hangovers...
Two funny things about the clown: 1- my first thought was, "How appropriate." 2- I saw today that the employees left out the back to the neighboring credit union. My thought was, "If he just tried to rob your FCU and FAILED, what makes you think it's safe at the ONE NEXT DOOR?"
KL: Interesting. Nice to have someone who tells both sides instead of talking out of both sides.
Feline Gothic?
Besides, at our age, you need to watch where you're walking anyway. They just remind you.
Neighborhood: Good job, all involved! And a valuable lesson learned: No Hyundai is a tow truck, or car-pusher. They're lucky surviving striking turbulent air.
Chris:
---Any time you can get off is always a blessing.
---Figured you take that and run with it...heh.
---Looks like your break from pizza became our "surge" for the next several days (thanks to Wifey and her cooking at Little Caesars).
---As long as it's not "Sorry Chris" "Sorry Laurie" or "Sorry Scrappy"...LOL.
---Gotta love the kids. They ARE our future.
---Idlewild at #1 works for ME!
---Of course we'll need a "review" on the 3 "newbs".
---I can work with THAT shift.
---That's a great point. They could have walked right INTO another similar situation!
---I truly agree with that call.
---I'll need a "stand-in" for a pitchfork. Maybe a scratching post?
---Goes with that "walk around things" day for sure!
---Yeah, that's when the engine doesn't catch fire (latest Hyundai recall last week)!!!
Hey, thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Have yourselves a great weekend (Sunday might be a bit damp) and stay safe up there, brother.
