Humpday Happenings...
Looks like we're in for a few VERY hot (and humid) days ahead of us in the Midwest.
After the weekend, we get some relief, but not as much as we should (that will come in November...lol).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies (maybe a stray shower early on), temps reaching to around 90 degrees and of course, plenty of humidity (or "humisity" if you like it steamy...heh).
Now, let's get things started with a nice cool beverage, s we see what else has been going on...
*** First up, we have the WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude".
You have to admit that such words ring quite true these days. Pickup any newspaper or listen to any broadcast and you hear how our nation is constantly under fire from the forces of evil.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the Faber School at Metz...
*** Time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JULY 17 -
National Lottery Day
(not gonna live long enough to hit it big)
National Peach Ice Cream Day
(pass)
National Tattoo Day
(sorry, NOT a fan)
Wrong Way Corrigan Day
(interesting story)
National Yellow Pig Day
(it's a "17" math thing)
National Hot Dog Day
(I prefer Hebrew National beef franks)
*** Just when you think the left can't get ANY more "weird", something like this comes along:
https://townhall.com/columnists/karenkataline/2019/07/01/why-is-the-left-trying-to-decriminalize-crime-n2549293
This OP-ED was written by a very astute woman back on 1 JUL, but you have to admit that every day, this kind of garbage from "the other side" creeps ever closer to our side.
(God help them if that happens because I won't).
*** The I&M public hearing seemed to have gone well...
www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20190717/proposed-im-hike-lambasted
Went well...just NOT for the utility, who has been asking for nearly a 12% INCREASE (close to $22 a month per household using 1000 Kwh).
Sorry, I agree with the person who spoke up there and said the utility lacks COMPASSION.
And to think in recent years, I&M made 1 BILLION in profits...!!!
What I find weird is that no one spoke up about "smart meters" (as I have in the past).
Customers might want to look into THAT as well.
THIS is a scam!
(Or, you can look up my archive post from 18 JULY 2012)
My take is that the utility will NOT get the increase it WANTS, but the Indiana commission will approve PART of it (like in the past), so we all don't get screwed AS much...big effin' deal. Slightly screwed is still screwed.
*** Time to drop on by our  "Kitten Corner"...
The kids had another good day around the house, and they discovered what a Mylar balloon does when the helium leaks out over time.
"Grab the string."  "No, YOU grab the string."
Wifey had a FB video of the event with Gallifrey, and I managed a picture of Violet and him wondering why the balloon drifts about on air currents inside a house.
That had Wifey and I laughing a lot. You never know when the "antics" will surface. Plus, we can use a chuckle these days.
*** Let's do our check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our furry twosome had to dodge some errant showers, but otherwise stayed close by. I will say that Whiskers was the only one showing up for lunch (which she enjoyed all by herself.
It's a "special" day for our "patio princess", as it was TWO years ago when she first peeked through our gate and came onto the patio.
Actually it should have been the 15th (my bad).
"Thank you for the food, water & love."
After that, we knew she had adopted us, and she's been a joy to have around.
Can't put candles on cat food, however.
"I'm still the veteran of this crew."
As for Midnight, he was here for breakfast, dinner, back step treats and to guard the morning paper until I got it from the front steps (more treats).
"I'm still learning the ropes."
Caruso also hangs around all night, because he's there first thing in the morning and usually there after the tuns sets.
Another otherwise lost soul has found a "home".
*** Last back to the family room...things are still kinda "up and down" around here.
Wifey's been making arrangements for her Dad, and I know what that's like.
I suppose one of the best quotes when it comes to (impending) grief can be summed up from a passage in the Doctor Who episode Heaven Sent:
"It’s funny. The day you lose someone isn’t the worst. At least you’ve got something to do. It’s all the days they stay dead."
I find this to be profoundly true.
Yet, as long as you remember those that pass from our existence, they never cease to be REALLY gone from us.
Still, we are creatures of the "tangible"...we require that touch, the feel, the ability to hold onto something or someone.
I like to believe we're "just passing through" this plane of existence. Our time here is like a "way-station"...a place to prepare ourselves for a greater journey, and one not limited by time or space.
I thank God for His creating the perfect way to accomplish that journey.
Eternity does sound appealing in so many way, does it not?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Humisity- it's a whole thing, now!

Hot dogs- well, now 'it's what's for dinner'.

I&M: and thus, whenever I do the JD Power survey on utilities, I bone 'em big time.

DW quote: Perfect. No words.

I tell Scrappy I miss him every day. Cry at least twice a week. Still try and call him to the kitchen for dinner. And talk to 2 stuffed animals because otherwise I would lose my freaking mind.

And I have YOU to thank for it (the word and NOT the weather).
I like to change up now and then with some chili on them.
Good for you. Keep up the great work there.
JDP can use the truth.
I know what that's like.
If I don't refer to dad or mom every other day, then I "accidentally" call one of the cats by a former cat's name...
You keep doing what you have to and never forget the Lord (also) has some pretty broad shoulders to lean upon, as well as an ear to listen.

Thanks much for spending some time here to comment.

Stay safe and keep cool up there, brother.

You have written some profound truths here. We are just walking through His world.

I have to question "Nat'l Yellow Pig Day".

As I often tell my wife...I'm just an observer and I speak from what I see and feel.
Yeah...yellow pig...EWW!

Thanks for taking time to comment.
Be well out there.
