Humpday Happenings...
Another Summer-like day in the Heartland. Did you hear that Spring "officially" arrived yesterday? We couldn't hear it for all the OTHER noise outside. And yes, it's DAY TWO of this (suddenly thrust upon us) construction fiasco in our part of the ghettohood that went worse than could be expected, but more about that and all the other "good stuff" in a few...
First up, it's time for our military quote of the week, otherwise known as:
"WHO SAID THAT?"
"...Hit quickly, hit hard, and keep right on hitting. Give the enemy no rest, no opportunity to consolidate his forces and hit back at you. That is the shortest road to victory."
So...who said that?
Answer at the top of tomorrow's post...good luck.
*** Next up, more on that double shooting at Eden Green Apartments.
Here's the link (with video and mugshots):

Now, if that name of Renald Williams sounds a tad familiar, you might have seen it HERE - see archives for 21 march 2011, (or in the news elsewhere), because he was ID'ed as the shooter at Piere's just last year (only charged with 2 counts of battery).
Now, Renald apparently LIKES to pick fights.

Maybe the prosecutor's office COULD have made the prior shooting stick...if they'd grow some balls.
*** Next up, (I feel a bit of a RANT coming on, so be forewarned...lol) how's about we look into whether or not the ghettohood surrounding Eden Green Apartments will be any SAFER after the FWPD moves out of the Creighton St. building they've been leasing and using as an HQ for 18 years, shall we?
Here's a link to this story:
http://www.wane.com/dpp/news/local/neighbors-worried-about-fwpd-moving-out-dbl
Now, I couldn't help but have a smirk roll across my face over this one...and with good reason.
And I guess it's the manner in which FWPD spokeswoman Off. Raquel Foster "splained" it...
(( "There’s no reason to be sad because we really are in your neighborhoods. We patrol the areas frequently, we always maintain a presence and we really are just a phone call away," Foster said. ))
--Sad? Try SCARED, as in OUT OF ONE'S WITS or FOR ONE'S LIFE (instead).
Hell, even I admit to some fear when it comes to dealing with such human excrement, because it's that fear that sharpens one's senses.
It's not the "cripes, I just crapped my drawers" fear...just the subtle "I'm aware of you and I will drop you if I need to" kind of fear.
But not every citizen has been exposed to such things, and their fear is both well-reasoned and sometimes profound.
I honestly worry about people caught up in such things, for we (here at the "Fortress") find ourselves in a similar situation.
Around here, gunfire can erupt at ANY time...for ANY reason...and can come from ANY direction.
Hell, the fact that the locals will have a knockdown-drag out right ON your property in broad daylight attests to such aberrant behavior.
Such vermin simply DO...NOT...CARE...about themselves (obviously) and certainly NOT ABOUT YOU!
If anything, YOU are a hindrance to THEIR "activities", especially when you have to call the police into it.
Something else Foster said that amused me (I get my laughs any way I can these days), and that is "we are in your neighborhoods".
If rolling ONE SQUAD CAR through my block in an EIGHT-HOUR period is called being "IN" my neighborhood technically, she'd be correct.
But, it's the FREQUENCY of patrols that bother me greatly (as well it should).
--Back in Philly, we had around 35 DISTRICTS (like precincts in NYC) for the city (with about 4000 officers in the day), and each district had it's own "sector cars" which canvassed a particular area IN that district.
EVERY SINGLE DAY, we had at least TWO cars roll through our neighborhood...just patrolling and scoping out the areas.
And THAT is in a city with about TEN TIMES the population we have HERE in Ft. Wayne.
Of course, that was in a time when Philly was a lot less problematic, politically-speaking.
But still, we had REAL police presence...verified by sight...daily.
(and we were certainly not even a bad area by any stretch of the imagination)
Raquel, the officers do NOT patrol MY area frequently, because if they DID, we'd have a helluva lot LESS noise...and other stuff that always seems to go unnoticed, wouldn't we? They are too BUSY responding to butt dials for *9-1-1* or domestic "he said, she saids".
They are around here SO infrequently, they don't even notice RACIAL GRAFFITI on a building two blocks from our "fortress"....for weeks!
If they DID notice it, they could put a call into NCE to have it cleaned up, because the FWPD doesn't even have a graffiti squad.
And whatever passed for a GANG SQUAD (both officers) has been all but disbanded.
Makes me wonder about if we have a BUNCO squad...or a CAT squad (Criminal Auto Theft)
My money would say "NO" (and I only bet on sure things).
The whole "we are only a phone call away" made me really laugh, too.
Gee, 'ya know that Rajeesh from Citibank Customer Service is ALSO "only a phone call away"...in f$cking INDIA...!!!
And my former partner from STS is in North Carolina..."only a phone call away".
Hell, my nephew Erik (the firefighter) lives in VA, and he's also..."only a phone call away".
Maybe I could call HIM if we ever fall asleep while cooking...LOL!
This statement is utter nonsense, but that's what I've come to expect from the TOP dogs at the FWPD. (and the rest of the City's good old boys)
Cripes, I could do better by hiring Boyd Crowder or calling Marshal Raylan Givens (characters from the FX series JUSTIFIED) because maybe both of them are..."only a phone call away" if I need assistance.
I said all that to say this:
The rule of thumb for responsible gun ownership (and appropriate usage when required) is "When SECONDS count, the police are just MINUTES away"...and that works for me, provisionally-speaking.
Who writes HER copy, anyway?
If you're gonna LIE to me (and the rest of the citizens who still have a modicum of CONCERN), be decent enough to tell a GOOD lie...something I "might" believe, rather than something I know I could NEVER believe, hmm?
*** Next, as promised...more about the construction "project".
((*Ahem*))
Another RECORD was broken yesterday ASIDE from the temperatures...FORTY-ONE boomcars drove past out house from the hours of 0800-2359.
And only ONE FWPD patrol car (N/B) in all that time...(so we did have "police presence", right, Raquel?)
We even had TWO FWCS buses pass one another, and that was a might close for even my taste (almost whacked a tree in the process).
One Citilink bus (pardon the photo quality - it was "on the fly") had this side graphic stating:
"DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE"
(I just love irony)
Funny thing was, close to FORTY PERCENT of all the drivers I noticed WERE on CELLPHONES while driving (okay, not texting per se).
Haven't had any bangups at the intersection (yet), but we are getting a few brake squeals and tire screeches, so there still is hope.
We also had some HUGE concrete trucks roll through, so we do have "cement-presence"...lol.
The sheer NUMBER of violations that COULD be written is astronomical at this point...and no one seems to care about money going IN to the city coffers, public safety in general, or even allowing the citizens here ANY level of that "quality-of-life" BS the mayor loves to spout off about (maybe where HE lives...in that ivory tower neighborhood of HIS).
If there is one crime that has been perpetrated against ANYONE in this city, it's the careless disregard for MY part of town (actually it involves the ENTIRE SOUTH SIDE), and I say that because the "disease" is spreading into the western areas now, as well as northeastern sections.
We have a police department with MANY good officers up to and including some captains, but we also have a department that has it's share of "do-nothings", or EMPTY UNIFORMS, as I used to call 'em.
That, unfortunately goes all the way to the TOP of the FWPD, and I make no bones about that.
Change the "regime" and you might be able to change the face of this area of Ft. Wayne, but even that will take time at this point.
Fix all the damn "broken windows", make EVERYONE accountable to the law, to others, and themselves.
I'm no better than any other, but if I can be a responsible person, then by God, it shouldn't be that difficult to have others do likewise.
There is simply NO EXCUSE to not do so.
And NO reason NOT to pursue such things...if we are to move FORWARD, and not merely spin our wheels.
That's just something we ALL need to think about.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

You wrote THAT one just for me... didn't you?

Dare ya to send it to Karen Richards!

A tale of two women today... and I have sympathy for Raquel, because she can only read off what she's told to say. The FWPD needs a chief that will come out and LOOK at the problems out there and be moved to DO something about them... "Today, Chief Buddhah was quoted as saying..."

Renald was the shoot-er at Pierre's and the shoot-ee at eden green? Just goes to show that natural selection is a slow bu effective process. Wonder how the ball-less KR feels about being resposible for that woman's injuries?

Yeah, sad and scared are two very different emotions. I have been amazed at living in a small town with a police force of less than 5 how often the patrol car wheels past my house on a dead end street.

The guy at the end of the block's hunting and fishing gear must be a popular view while on-duty cruising.

The ONLY thing I'd send to Richards would be a letter congratulating her on her RETIREMENT!
Raquel is so "not what I expect from a police PIO"...you can TELL she's going through the motions of the "public statements".

We have a chief that is all but "marking time" until he retires...that much is certain.
(not bad for the mayor's lackey)

Look at the differences between York and Sheriff Fries (who's not that far from retirement himself)...HUGE difference in tactics, performance, expectations, AND passion for the job...!

And, truth be told, if you knew HALF of the intel I've come upon over the years, it would boggle your mind.
It's not the KNAPP commission(NYC) gig, but things are not that far off, relatively-speaking.
(and that's ALL I can say about it for now)

Natural selection...not the FASTEST way to have these primitives off one another,...just the ONLY way at this time.
Yeah, another "poor, misunderstood, oppressed black man", held down by whitey...no doubt (and taking all the free stuff FROM whitey along the way)...

ROFLMAO..yeah, that's GOTTA be it!

Hey, thanks for dropping on by today and commenting.

Stay safe up there in Scrappy-hollow.

Agreed...BIG honking difference there.
You hot it EXACTLY w/ the small town- small police analogy.
I've seen it in many fo the "small towns", villages and boroughs I visited iover tuime.

THEY patrol...so that crime doesn't manage to get a foothold.
Because oncve it DOES< you;re pretty much playing "catch-up"....a LOT (aka chasing the radio).

You're a fortunate soul to be blessed to live in such a better area...

Thanks a lot for stopping on by today and commenting.

Stay safe out there.
