Monday Musings...
Welcome to another fun-filed week...depending on how YOU define "fun".
The Hoosierland weather today will be a lot more seasonal, with today's high ONLY reaching the upper 50s!
We're starting our mostly cloudy, and we may get a slight shower, but the rest of the day promises to be better and we should be seeing the sun sooner or later (it's always shining at 30,000 ft).
So, let's get busy and get this show on the road, okay?
*** First up...as is becoming tradition around the Summit City Ghettohood, we manage to have ONE shooting during the weekend, and last Friday we were given HOMICIDE NUMBER 34.
Here's the story:
http://www.wane.com/news/local/police-respond-to-shooting-on-hobson
This took place at the Baldwin Creek Apartments (what, again?) around 1400 hrs (yes, in broad daylight).
The victim was ID'ed as Johnny Lee Upshaw, 21 of Fort Wayne.
I heard part of this on the radio, and police were looking for a suspect vehicle, a black Charger, which they later found not far from where the killing took place.
This is the SAME apartment complex where FWPD officers chased a man armed with a semi-auto AK-style rifle and killed him in a stairwell, when he ran into a dead ended on the stairs and confronted officers. The dead end was because of a previous FIRE at the same building.
Seems we can't get a "clean" weekend going these days, does it?
Always have to have some drama.
*** And that brings me to a story that unfolded LAST night.
Here's the link to this one:
http://www.wane.com/news/crime/police-respond-to-shooting-less-than-a-mile-from-parkview-field
This happened in the 300 block of Melita St (just SW of downtown) around 2355 hrs.
Apparently a burglar was trying to practice his "trade", and came up a bit short...and dead.
See, he happened into a home where a Vietnam Vet in his 70s had a gun...and didn't flinch when it came time to use the damn thing.
Police found the suspect on the front porch of the house and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe that this is not related to similar burglaries in the area (let's hope it is - one less perp to worry about).
The FWPD has not released information about where the perp was shot or how many times., but I figure of the vet had a shotgun , and it as a close proximity shot at center mass...game over.
THIS is what deters criminals...not more gun laws.
You are always your FIRST, BEST defense when trouble comes along.
Police did say the victim appeared to be in his 20s. The coroner will determine the C.O.D., and then the name will be released.
And yes, technically, this can be called a homicide, so we might be looking at homicide number 35, but at least in THIS case...it was JUSTIFIED.
Think of it as REAL "urban renewal"...like I do.
Moving on...
*** Well, so far the TV viewing season isn;t off to a bad start...for me, anyway.
THE BLACKLIST is a keeper (so far), an the new season of BLUE BLOODS has begun (some of the best writing on network television), and since AMC is rerunning eps of THE WALKING DEAD, the new season MUST be just round the corner.
ARROW begins a new season THIS Wednesday, after last week's marvelous season one "compilation" ep that brought you up to speed.
I can't wait until they bring THE FLASH onto the show (as hinted at).
There is talk about getting a separate SERIES, too.
MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. is also a good watch, and the references to former movies and comic characters is great for any enthusiast.
Samuel L. Jackson even made a guest appearance (as Nick Fury) at the end of last week's episode.
This week, after Arrow, we have a revamp of an old 70s U.K. show called THE TOMORROW PEOPLE...think of the Matrix meets the X-Men.
I look at it like the Mutant-X show, and that old Brit series was decent for it's time.
Homo Superior is the tagline, and think about having powers you don't understand and also WHY you have them.
FX had the premier of the 2011 movie GREEN LANTERN, and I really like this flick.
Ryan Reynolds does a great job of bringing test pilot Hal Jordan to the screen as the Emerald Knight
Mark Strong plays a wonderful Sinestro (who you might remember as playing Lord Henry Blackwood in Downey's Sherlock Holmes, and was also in Zero Dark Thirty) , who succumbs to the power of a YELLOW ring, forged by the Guardians of the GREEN power lantern - the power of the WILL.
Yellow is the color of FEAR, but with THAT power comes a price, an Sinestro has the "cash" on hand, if you get my drift.
There is definitely room for a sequel, and I hope they do make one.
Green Lantern shouldn't be a "one-off".
And, I finally got myself a copy of IRON MAN 3 (on eBay, where America shops) for LESS than retail...still SEALED.
Can't beat that with a stick (or a repulsor beam).
*** Lastly today...the realm of fiction and fantasy is something we ALL enjoy growing up (unless you're Amish...lol), and it's been the stuff of dreams for young boys and girls for a long time.
In my day, it was Roy Rogers, The Lone Ranger, Superman...and many more. Girls had the Girl from U.N.C.L.E., Honey West, and more than a few others. But we KNEW what was real and what was not. Our parents so much as told us so,...(except for Santa..we usually found that out on our own).
I was and still am a comic fan. The notion of having powers beyond belief and doing GOOD with them was always a cool thing.
Today, with so many video games taking the place of sitting down and perhaps READING such things as comics, or even the classics like Moby Dick, The Red Badge of Courage, or even The Martian Chronicles, there is little for the "mind's eye" to take in, and I think that becomes part of society's problems when these kids think LIFE is a video game and all they have to do is hit the "reset" button.
There must always be that distinction BETWEEN what is real and what is not. Blurring the lines serves to confuse and deceive.
Now, you can always use sports as a convenient "fallback", and that works to a degree, as long as decorum, teamwork, and sportsmanship is at the top of any list.
None of this knockdown-drag out crap we are seeing more of will suffice.
And again, that's where the mind's eye becomes important.
That helps us to perceive and comprehend things other people do (when we read about them), and we formulate perceptions and opinions based on those characters...sadly, the same can be said for video games, but it's not the same.
If more kids were reading instead of smart-phoning their butts off, and spent more time between the pages of GOOD literature or maybe even a comic now and then), they might be better prepared as they mature...to handle the things that life will toss at them, and I would have to say that true interpersonal skills has to rank near the top there.
Know what is fact...and know what is fantasy, and be able to distinguish between the two.
Therein lies the lesson for today.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

04 October 2013

Friday Follies...
Well, here we are again...at weekend's door.
And it will feel unlike autumn, with Hoosierland temps today getting up into the low to mid-80s. expect a partly cloudy (or partly sunny, depending on your point of view) sky today and some humidity just to make it seem like we're still in the throes of summer.
Today will be a good day to get out and mow a lawn, which is what I'm planning on doing after I finish this, as we're looking at more rain tomorrow.
So, with that said, let's get started with all that's been going on...
*** The D.C. mother, alleged to be suffering from post-partum depression who led police on a merry chase between the White House barricades and the Capitol was shot and killed after that brief chase by Metro police.
Now, I don't claim to be an expert on post-partum depression (just depression in general), but when someone has to be hospitalized for it, one could surmise that the problem IS a bit out of hand, and needs some level of medication AND supervision, lest they cause harm to themselves (or others) and try to commit suicide, right?
Here's the latest in the story:
http://www.myfoxdc.com/story/23607108/mother-daughter-in-capitol-chase-was-depressed#axzz2gkZ9wAcK
Okay, so her mom knew she was depressed, but DIDN'T know she was in D.C.
The woman, ID'ed as Miriam Carey, 34 of Stamford, CT (that's quite a drive to Washington, isn't it?) had no history of violence (just a history of deep depression). The 1-year old, also in the car was taken into child services custody.
The woman was a dental hygienist and a former resident of Brooklyn...yeah, I prefer to have depressed people poking around in my mouth.
The NY Daily News reports that a former boss said she fell down stairs (2 years prior) and suffered a significant head injury...THAT could have produced a depressive state. She was let go from that position when she constantly parked in a handicapped zone.
Here's the entire story from the NY Daily News:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/shots-fired-u-s-capitol-report-article-1.1475378
One D.C. Metro officer was injured in the melee, but it was not anything life-threatening.
Sure makes you wonder WHY some people go off like this, and why we can't do better when he have the best health services in the world...(and that's soon to change, thanks to Obummercare).
How people can consistently fall through the cracks and wind up as this woman astounds me.
We can do much better to prevent this...and should.
Moving on...
*** A longtime and very dear friend of mine recently got back from a trip to AFRICA, to visit his kids who are missionaries in Kenya (of all places - God bless them for that).
He missed the Nairobi mall attack by less than two days, and was shocked when that happened (as I would be).
Sleepy Momma "Kitty".
He did send along some pictures...and no, these were NOT taken at the Ft. Wayne Children's Zoo.
That's the FOR REAL Serengeti National Park...in AFRICA (the continent)...LOL.
Dem's a LOT of wildebeest out there.
I'm just glad he's back unscathed and INTACT.
*** Next up, all of you know I follow John Stossel, and while I don't agree with everything he has to say, more often than not, his take is pretty damn close to mine.
Well, he's got 100 things that he hates about government, and the link is HERE:
http://www.foxbusiness.com/on-air/stossel/blog/2013/06/21/100-things-i-hate-about-government
My FIRST thought was "Only one hundred???"
But, it's a good list, and makes SO much sense.
His show last night (10PM - FBM channel) was about the shutdown...which all of this crap really IS NOT.
And when you hear Pelosi say "we can't cut anymore - the cupboard is BARE"...don't believe one single word of that.
Stossel proved there is LOTS we CAN cut (because that "cupboard" is FULL of waste and money), without affecting anything...except the bureaucratic juggernaut and it's minions.
Was a damn good show.
*** Lastly today, it's been just over a week, and I am getting a little better around the house when it comes to no longer having TWO cats, and even the surviving male cat doesn't look around for his sister that often. He does wander about as if looking for her.
And that made me think...(always a potentially dangerous proposition).
Memories are something we keep with us always...kinda like "The Force".
And whether it's memories of a lost pet, a family member, a dear friend, or even a life mentor or educator, THOSE memories become much of what ultimately defines us a human beings.
It can also be memories of better times, like when we were children...we recall with vivid clarity the manner that we were brought up. Many times it's good, but we also will remember bad times.
Yet, ALL of these memories,  good and bad serve to strengthen us, help us learn, and moreover, teach us to emulate that which we find helpful, and prevent ourselves from imitating the destructiveness of the harmful.
At least, that's the way it's supposed to work, right?
Yet, through all this, it is WE who determine our path, and hopefully we DID learn from those in our lives, as well as sought solace and counseling from a "higher authority".
We are all complex beings, and I think God meant it that way, so we could make our own choices in life, and by paying attention, be able to make those GOOD choices. Would it be that more people would stop, look and listen, NOT just at railroad crossings, but at every intersection that occurs within their own lives. We might all wind up much better off.
DO have yourselves a great weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

03 October 2013

As The Weekend Nears...
Ah, yes...the end of the week doth approach, and if you live in Hoosierland, you might have seen some RAIN outside this morning.
No, you're NOT having a visual impairment...that WAS rain, and we're slated to get MORE of it throughout the day.
Temps will reach around 80, so it will see a lot more like summer than fall, but we've already had 70 degree temps in January (back in the early 70s, long before the global warming scams took place).
I wouldn't go and stow that lawn mower JUST yet, though.
So, let's kick back for a spell, grab another cup of coffee (or whatever you prefer) and let's get busy with the rest of what's going on.
*** First out of the sack today is the answer to yesterday's Motto of the Week:
"That's the way things come clear  All of a sudden. And then you realize how obvious they've been all along."
This was attributed to Madeleine L' Engle (29 November 1918 - 6 September 2007), an American writer most noted for the children's book A Wrinkle In Time. And here is her WIKI:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madeleine_L'Engle
Her life and career are typical of many authors, in that she suffered numerous rejections of her writings.
After graduating cum laude from Smith University in 1941, she moved to NYC and met an actor, one Hugh Franklin in a play she appeared in called The Cherry Orchard. She married Franklin in less than a year after that and they had two children (Josephine and Bion)
The family moved to Connecticut and supplemented thier income by running a small general store.
Madeleine also became the choir director for the local Congregational Church.
In 1959, they moved back to NYC for Franklin's acting career, but preceded the move with a cross-country trip that lasted ten weeks.
And it as at this time Madeleine wrote A Wrinkle In Time, which was rejected over 30 times before finally being published.
During the next three decades, Madeleine wrote dozens of books for children, with one of them being a memoir of her marriage to Franklin, who died of cancer in 1986.
L'Engle was seriously injured in a car accident in 1991, but recovered enough to visit Antarctica the following year.
Her son died in 1999 at the age of 47.
Madeleine was a strong Episcopalian and believed in universal salvation.
She caught flak from both sides of the religious aisle. The christian stores refused to carry her books, citing her promotion of christian universalism, while the secular critics claimed her works were TOO religious.
I found her life to be one of perseverance and persistence, and those are good qualities for one to possess.
Moving on...
*** I know you've heard the story about the WW2 VETS from the honor flights that were denied the chance to visit their OWN memorial in D.C.
Here's the video from Fox News in case you want the details:
http://video.foxnews.com/v/2715055938001/wwii-vets-refuse-to-be-denied-access-to-memorial-in-dc/
Okay, so who the HELL does this administration think it is to deny access to an OPEN-AIR memorial  to a group of  80-90 year old vets that may not be able to return to visit ever again anyway?
This kind of stuff REALLY pisses me off royally!
I am GLAD these vets (and their guardians on the Honor Flight) moved the damn barricades and went in to see their memorial. Lord know they won't be with us that much longer, and it's damn time we do all we can to show our appreciation.
Other memorial sites were also "off-limits" like the Vietnam Wall, and the Lincoln Memorial.
Cripes, we have MORE GUARDS at THOSE places than we had in Benghazi a year ago...and how much is it costing to KEEP those guards there anyway?
-- But wait,...it's gets even better...
There is an historical FARM (on federal land) in McLean VA, near Langley, once called the Turkey Run Farm, but now known as the Claude Moore Farm.
It's PRIVATELY OWNED, STAFFED, and FUNDED, but there this administration goes again...CLOSING THE PLACE to tourism., purposely causing unjust and unwarranted "pain" to all those wishing to visit.
Here's the story:
http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2013/10/02/shutdown-national-park-service-closes-self-sustaining-colonial-farm-it-hasnt-supported-since-1980/
For God's sake, the National Park Service hasn't bothered with this place since 1980...!!!
But all of a sudden,. on the orders from our "fearless leader", they close off access to this nice place.
That would be like closing down our own "Fort" here in the Summit City...(also staffed and run by volunteers).
THIS is the kind of scare-tactic lunacy you get with these liberals...make no mistake.
And the worst part of this is that the blame is not falling where it's supposed to fall.
There were even tourists from overseas denied access into the Statue of Liberty...but you can ride the ferry to Liberty Island - small consolation.
Makes me wonder HOW MUCH all these "closings" are costing in manpower, because if many of them like the OPEN-AIR venues were left open, THAT would save more than a few bucks, don'cha think?
Technically, this shiutdown should close GETTYSBURG, too...and since that town relies on tourism and many places are staffed by volunteers or privately paid people, here's another instance where any closing need not happen. Makes me wonder how NATIONAL CEMETERIES are being (mis) handled?
It's just another progressive leftist clusterf$ck...period.
*** Lastly today...it really bothers me whenever the government (at ANY level) oversteps it's boundaries...and we DO have boundaries for them, just as we all have  personal boundaries...or should have. The founders of this nation knew as much...and while placing their very lives at stake, preceded to create a set of laws that were to remain immutable over time.
And although time moves forward and is susceptible to "change", these laws designed by those founders should not be tampered with, for contained within them are human rights, God-given rights, and an overall sense that those men knew there was a higher being, and that their rationale and morality came from religious beginnings.
To change things "because you can" has no reason, no purpose, and only serves to befuddle many who believe that such things are (and will continue to be) folly. And in order to have a better life, one must have reason...and purpose.
We have ignored that which made this nation great for too long, and perhaps we are required to rekindle the things that not only make ourselves better, but makes this country better...
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

02 October 2013

Humpday Happenings...
Okay, why is the sun not out this morning, and DON'T tell me it's because of the "government shutdown"?
The last time I checked, Da Prez didn't take control of the universe...although I'd bet he'd LOVE to, knowing his zest for power.
Anyway, the Hoosierland weather today will be mostly cloudy this AM, giving way to some sun later on with highs again approaching the 80 degree mark.
And no, not a chance of rain today...perhaps later this week.
Now, with that behind us, let's see what's going on...
*** First up, today's Motto of the Week aka WHO SAID THAT?
"That's the way things come clear. All of a sudden. And then you realize how obvious they've been all along."
And with today's progressive healthcare/insurance fiasco, such observations become all too apparent, has it not?
So...who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the library...
*** It would seem that a person has been caught regarding all those burglaries on the SW side of town (Southwood Park area).
And here's the link to the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20131002/LOCAL07/310029942/0/FRONTPAGE
Now, I'd have to say with ALL the burglaries there and at nearby neighborhoods, if THIS guy in custody was the SOLE burglar...man, he must have put in some SERIOUS O/T...
I'd have to believe that he's only the tip of the iceberg, as it were...got to be more than just ONE perp doing all this crap.
No one ever said that criminal idiots were not organized to some degree, right?
And this shows some level of planning and watching the areas.
Police were able to find this guy because he left a latent palm print at one of the houses, and with latex gloves so damn cheap, you'd think he'd have covered that aspect.
Not the brightest crayon in the damn box, hmm?
New automated fingerprint ID systems are to thank for the arrest.
Perhaps the residents of these areas can sleep better...maybe. they'd still do well to take every precaution to protect themselves and their belongings.
Moving on...
*** If there's one thing worse than having a property suffer a "board-up" near you...it's ANOTHER property also getting a board-up.
Such was he case the other day...right across the street from our "Fortress".
We now have two of the four properties, boarded up, vacant, and ripe for the scrappers to target.
Naturally,m the two OTHER houses are occupied and problematic at best, Those would be nice if vacant.
Now apparently, someone DID manage to get into the house across the street, as the board-up guy placed plywood at the front window, as well as behind the house and on the side entry.
It's like I ALWAYS say - when you have a bunch of mooks with nothing to do ALL day (thanks to entitlements), they will take it upon themselves to watch YOUR property. Same can be said for what took place at Southwood Park, Harrison Hill, Fairmount, and Oakdalle neighborhoods.
Someone had to get a handle on who would be home and when, as well as when people went to bed.
That goes for burglars, home invaders, scrappers, and anyone else that wants your stuff for free.
*** And that brings me to the next item...one of the empty houses (next door, in fact). remember when I said last year that someone had gotten into the space over the garage with a ladder? I called the po-po and they got a board-up crew to close it up.
I took care of the ladder by cutting it into small pieces...loved every minute of it, too.
That's not the end of this tale, though...
Raccoons (nature's little muggers) managed to get into the space where the board-up was placed and have been cribbing there since.
One of these critters was the one that tore up our roof, forcing us to get a new one (which we needed anyway).
That one was caught.
But, I've heard raccoon noise from inside the place again, so I took some pictures to pass along to Code Enforcement (regarding a better board-up.
Now my plan is simple...get NCE to come out to board it up, and when THEY discover the raccoons inside, they will call Animal Control to have them removed so the board-up can take place...sounds like a win-win all around...(cross your fingers, because you never know HOW the city will handle something SO damn simple.
Hey, if an FWPD officer wants some pistol time, he's welcome to do so...not that the critters can get back onto our NEW roof (the branches from the trees have all been cut way back).
The house needs to be condemned and torn down (imho)...and that's a shame, because it used to be a decent place...when our neighbor lived there.
*** The 2 high school football teams that brawled down in Indy got their just desserts, and like I said they should do, BOTH got a "loss" for the event. Suspensions for both the coaching staff AND players are being doled out, too. And both schools have been put on a probationary status.
*** Beware large groups of bikers..especially if they're scruffy looking nerf-herders without American flags flying on their machines (those are the PATRIOT RIDERS - GREAT GROUP of bikers), because they can be harmful to your health.
Here's the story (with video from one of the bikers) from NY:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20131001/NEWS03/131009958/0/SEARCH
Now it's been said that a biker was "struck"...let's say he was nudged by the SUV when the driver panicked. Who wouldn't if around 30 bikers surrounded your vehicle?
They're damn lucky the SUV driver wasn't carrying, suffered road rage, decided to not take any sh*t, and shoot someone.
This kind of reactionary domestic terrorism puts a black eye on all bikers, and that should not be allowed to happen, because most bikers ARE good, decent people...I know enough of them to make that call.
*** Lastly today, more of what I said is taking place...acts of violent behavior - some random...others, not so much.
Now, I have no real reason WHY this is happening with greater regularity and with greater amounts of violent behavior. What I can say that in a world where "tolerance" is SUPPOSED to rule the roost...folks, that just ain't happening.
Hell, we used to be a lot MORE tolerant decades ago, when everyone didn't have to ram tolerance down our throats.
We also used to be a lot more CIVIL towards one another, and maybe that's got a lot to do with the morality of the citizenry at the time.
We used to be a society of a LOT more church-goers...or to put it more properly, more of us used to believe in a higher authority, and it wasn't found in our nation's capital, that's for sure.
So, what happened between then and now?
I dunno really, but whatever did occur must have happened on a late Tuesday night, after most of us hit the sack.
Or maybe we've all become part of some huge "experiemnt" - in a societal petrie dish, with someone wanting to see if such a "disease" as we are suffering will multiply and spread.
I always want to believe that ALL people have within them the capability to become better, and if that means more moral, more civil, and more respectful...yeah, I can work with that.
After all, it's pretty much the way we USED to be...wasn't it?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

01 October 2013

Welcome to October...
Is that more FOG outside this morning?
Yep, every school system BUT the FWCS was on a 2-hour delay today...go figure.
Aside from the fog, we are looking at a decent first of the month, with temps tickling the 80-degree mark and a good amount of sunshine.
So, with that dispensed with, let's all top off that morning beverage of choice, sit back and see what has been transpiring since last we convened.
*** First out the garage today, is this whole...(cue the Darth Vader theme)...government SHUTDOWN...!
Give me a damn break...this isn't anything new for God's sake. We've done this about 17-18 times JUST since I was alive.
Hell, I was even furloughed once...for like TWO days.
And guess what?
We all frigging SURVIVED...!!!
Cripes last night, they were giving a damn COUNTDOWN...like we were headed for universal and wholesale Armageddon.
Much of the media treated this like we should be looking for Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest in Times Square, waiting for "the ball to drop".
C'mon now...isn't THAT a bit MUCH?
(Apparently not for some)
So all the NON-essential personnel get a furlough...shouldn't that tell us what the government NEEDS and does not need?
I would think so, but then like you, I tend to think with common sense..and a bit of logic.
Then we should as why the government can't CUT BACK and do away with ALL the "dead wood"?
It's so simple to figure out, yet everyone is more concerned with the finale of "Breaking Bad" to fret over any of this.
Technically,. it won't affect most all of us, and essential services will remain intact...but don't go plan a trip to Yosemite until this blows over...the place is CLOSED, as are all national parks, zoos and monuments.
Funny, there's NO door to the LINCOLN MEMORIAL...is there?
Yet, if it takes something like THIS to get D.C. back to something distantly approaching NORMAL...I;m all for it.
Enough socialistic rhetoric and political correctness...let's get back to running the NATION, and NOT RULING IT'S PEOPLE.
Moving on (mercifully)...
*** Those SW side burglaries were addressed at a meeting held last evening, and here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20131001/LOCAL/310019979/0/FRONTPAGE
We're now THIS deep in crime...
A couple of things bugged me about this...
1) 150 people show up for this (solidarity, yes?) and yet not nearly as many show up when the black community has a rally for violence in THEIR community...that should tell you something there.
2) ELEVEN burgalries were reported in the Harrison Hill area, along with hits in the Oakdale and Fairmount neighborhoods, which tells me the media coverage of the Southwood Park area may have chased the perp(s) to a neighboring area(s) for the time being.
3) FWPD chief York stated he "has poured more resources into the area"...from WHERE? We're already 20+ officers UNDER what we should have.
That explains the radio chatter with reassignments "on the fly" for better coverage.
4) Even after residents called police, they were met with "resistance" from dispatchers to roll a patrol cruiser to their area, or felt they were given the run-around. York told them to continue to call. Yeah, I've played "20 questions" more than a few times myself, so I can relate to those citizens.
5) Police also cautioned residents about the use of personal firearms (after a facebook commenter mentioned he would be conducting an armed patrol...and he didn't live in the area).
But at least SIX officers live in the neighborhood that's been targeted...that's SIX MORE than in OUR area.
Remember boys and girls, when SECONDS count, the police are only MINUTES away...get a damn gun and arm yourselves up.
A dead perp isn't going to commit any more crime, and will send a message to the thugs.
Would I think the residents feels SAFER after that meeting?
I would wager that many of them felt like they got some good lip-service...the proof is in the RESULTS.
YOU are always your first BEST defense...
***  The recent shooting victims have been ID'ed, and here's that story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20131001/LOCAL/310019969/0/FRONTPAGE
Let's just say it's more black-on-black crime...and then wait to hear the CRICKETS from the black community...again.
And let's also say that (according to SPOT-CRIME) there are multiple police calls for SHOTS FIRED...every single day within a 3-mile radius of our "Fortress" down in the SE side aka the crotch of Ft. Wayne...those you never hear about, unless one of those bullets hits a person.
THEN,...it's "news". ((...rolls eyes...))
*** Lastly today, have you ever felt that life was getting just a might TOO complex for your liking?
I mean, sure...you can most always find some solace in your OWN HOME, but I'm talking about everywhere else OUTSIDE your four walls.
And yet HERE, in the Summit City, you folks are NOWHERE close to the problems that MAJOR cities suffer...yet (this city is working on that one, trust me).
Still, we're being pummeled by things at so many levels these days, aren't we?
Bend over - Here it comes again.
If it's not a "local" problem, it's perhaps a state-related issue, or (even worse) a NATIONAL fiasco (and as fiascoes go, the FEDS are at the top of MY list when it comes to both creating them and fostering them).
You can;lt turn around these days without having to deal with something that you SHOULDN'T have to deal with in the first place...like this healthcare "affordable act", that is NOT affordable, has increasing FINES targeting you, should you choose NOT to "obey and get in lockstep", should have NEVER been rendered constitutional by "the Supremes" because the FEDS cannot force you to buy something THEY are selling.
Well, the lists go on, and the problems for us mount continuously.
Life for all of us USED to be a lot easier to stomach, and a lot less difficult to deal with.
Ain't THAT the truth...
The issues at HOME always seemed the most important, but today, they have to take a back seat many times, because of all the crap coming at us from everywhere else.
If we stay focused...if we stay intent on  living our OWN lives, and not allow the government to dictate to us every single aspect OF our lives, I think we'll be okay. But we have to be ever vigilant for if we are caught "napping", we might not like things (even more) when we wake up.
Eyes open...ears open...and speak with clarity and purpose.
That's gets the message across every time.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.
