31 March 2015

Tuesday Tidbits...
The weather yesterday fooled us rather well...the temps climbed all the way into the upper FIFTIES.
Now, that's not too bad. Shame the same cannot be said for today.
Our Hooiserland weather will see us with only a high into the upper FORTIES. Those ten degrees can make a difference.
Other than that, we're supposed to have somewhat sunny skies again and a slight breeze.
So feel free to go and get that morning cup of your favorite drink as we take a look at all the other "stuff" that's been going on...
*** First out of the service center is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
March 31 -
---Today is BUNSEN BURNER DAY...
Light 'em if 'ya got 'em!
You remember those from chemistry class, right?
"Me me mememe, me me meme"
Beaker sure does, too.
---And it's also NATIONAL CLAM ON THE HALF SHELL DAY
I'll have to pass on that one. I prefer my clams to be FRIED or otherwise COOKED.
Nothing says nasty like TRYING to eat something that feels like a giant phlegmball in your mouth.
*** Next, is our weekly salute to all the mooks, moolies, and morons around Fort Wayne that play with guns in an irresponsible manner:

==========================================
***  Next up,  this whole ginned-up flap over the recent RFRA bill the Indiana state senate passed. WTH?
A copy of the wording in the bill can be found in today's J-G paper and here's the link to it:
http://www.journalgazette.net/opinion/columns/The-language-of-SB-101-5839056
Now, forgive me for not being LIBERAL enough to find the "flaw" that the leftists have created.
I don't see anything that suggests a "discriminatory behavior" by anyone, person OR business that could possibly lead to the upheaval we're hearing about. Maybe, it's because I can comprehend something as simple as this, and I'm no lawyer or politician.
Everyone on talk radio (here) seems to think the same way I do...nothing to see with the passing of this bill.
All it does is give an avenue of "protection" fpr those businesses that would be forced by the government to go AGAINST their own personal religious beliefs.
I'm not seeing any hidden agenda.
I look at it this way - in a fictional town of "Everyville, USA", there are 30 flower shops, and  a gay or lesbian couple come in to get arrangements for their UNION. Of those 30 shops, ONE has strict religious beliefs against the joining on two people of the SAME SEX, and don't wish to accept the couple's business. All well and good as there are TWENTY-NINE OTHER SHOPS that would gladly accept their business and do a nice job, right?
NO...the gay couple don't want the flowers as much as they want to "stir the pot"...make a statement against the ONE shop owner, rather than just say "fine, we'll go to a place that wants our business" and move along.
To be accurate, this bill doesn't EVEN refer to gays...it's more of a state level of a FEDERAL bill that was passed by Clinton back in 1993 for Native-Americans being exempt from an exclusionary law and permitted to use peyote in some of their RELIGIOUS ceremonies.
The libtards want to sink Pence's chances of running for president, and they're starting early here.
This whole episode goes to show the depths that some people will do to twist things around to serve their OWN purposes, however misguided they have proven to be.
*** Next, the Wifeymobile went in the shop for an oil change and to get the window motor and switch replaced.
But, along the way, we found something out that was important...
We were told both the water pump and the radiator were leaking. Funny, didn't see any puddles on the garage floor, so it must ONLY have been leaking on the road when the engine temps and pressures were higher.
That's not a good thing, especially when Wifey is going down to Vincennes to visit her Dad.
Sure don't want her to get stranded because the engine overheated and seized up...that would mean a HUGE repair bill (or, even another car).
As it stands, this whole deal will cost around $900...BUT, that's a lot less than the price of an engine OR a new car.
"Good to go"
It would be a damn shame to lose a vehicle that runs like a damn bear, and at this point, the yearly cost is not even close to being prohibitive.
All this means (to me) is that the AR 15 I want to get will wait another year...lol
And, at least we KNOW where the tax refund check is going...heh.
Moving on...
*** Another lawsuit against the FWPD (which will probably also be settled out of court).
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/courts/Mom-sues-police-in-son-s-shooting-5843907
This all took place back in 2013 when TaVonte Haney fled from an SUV which was pulled over by police on 27 April that year.
(check my archive posts of 29 April 2013 and 8 February 2014)
Fellow blogger Gadfly had a post from August 2014 about this here:
http://herdgadfly.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
I guess when you don't "feel that your baby din do nuffin", you file a lawsuit...how predictable.
And to think ALL this could have been avoided and baby-mama would STILL have her son...IF only just a few BETTER CHOICES had been made earlier in life. No excuse for that NOT to happen.
It always pans out this way, and most likely, there will be some settlement, as if to say "here's your reward for not being a good enough parent to keep your child from doing wrong". What a world.
*** Next up, when Wifey and I go grocery shopping, we like to go to Wsaynedale, and, as I have said before, we do this for a number of reasons, not the least of which is being able to come out from the store and find our car where we left it, instead of an empty spot.
Scotts-Krogers Waynedale.
Can't say that with as much certainty if we shopped the Krogers at Southgate Plaza.
Plus, we don't LIKE being accosted by minority thugs that early in the day.
While in Waynedale, we sometimes stop at other stores there like Auto Zone, Dollar General, Walgreens, or Family Dollar. Whoever has the best prices works.
This past week, we just hit Scotts (Krogers), but had we stopped at FAMILY DOLLAR along Bluffton Rd, we might have walked into a robbery, as told here at this story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/Family-Dollar-store-robbed-5840118
The store is located at 6443 Bluffton Rd and police say it was robbed Saturday morning.
They robbers were described at two BLACK MALES (no surprise to me) about 6 ft tall, thin build, wearing all black.
One of them had a black handgun
Scene of the robbery
The robbers emptied multiple registers of cash and went out the back door.
Police were told by a witness that the men got into a white Pontiac (which model?) and headed east on Lower Huntingdon Rd towards the airport expressway.
Funny, this would not have happened ten years ago.,..wonder what changed in that time?
Oh yeah...the closer proximity of more MINORITIES to the area of Waynedale...that's gotta be it. Yeah, crime follows such people and spreads like ink on water.
*** Last back to the garage... it seems these days that no matter how hard you try, there will always be people who live to CREATE PROBLEMS...or CONTROVERSY...or DRAMA.
You long for the days when such people were not the "cause-celebre" of the week.
Those days when the MAJORITY of folks had their heads screwed on straight seems to be slipping away.
More times than not, it's a few people who are dictating to everyone else what "needs" to be done TO our society, rather than FOR it, and definitely not always for the better.
People will go out of their way to push their agenda, and the leftists in power love this kind of crap.
To them, it brings all of us one step closer to chaos.
But those of us that don't prefer living like that need to be heard as well...this is STILL a democratic republic, and we ALL have say in what goes on.
I'm below the average height for males, and yet, I don't feel the NEED to cry discrimination at the drop of a hat, even if I see much the world as belt buckles.
(I'm not THAT short, but I wanted to make a point)
I mean, if you look HARD enough and waste enough time, you can find SOME sort of discrimination ANYWHERE.
So, how can any of us ever hope to eradicate ALL of it from every corner of our society?
Short answer:
WE CAN'T.
This is a case where battles have to be chosen carefully, and for the sake of the MASSES and not a handful of libtard loons.
Whether it's the gay issue, or Christmas, or anti-Christian sentiments, or whatever else you can think of, it's not the kind of thing that made this country BETTER...not by a long shot.
But, when  a battle for our own culture comes along, you have to be "in it to win it"...take no prisoners, wage total war.
Each of us has a stake in this...doesn't matter if we look to the past or the future, for the PRESENT is where we fight, and it's here that we preserve that past, as well as make our future one that those who will live there proud to be a part of.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America..

Oh poo on wifeymobile car repairs, but you are right it is less than a new car. Reliable is a big deal as well. Glad you are making sure she doesn't break down.

Yes, we disagree on the bill. I agree the anti-Christian movement sucks and it is tearing this country apart. However, remember the restaurants and the bus...could not discriminate because they were black...BUT now it's OK to refuse food and taxi or cake and flowers if they are gay? What about a Christian refusing to serve a Muslim or vice versa. See, to me...that is the same thing. People are going to use the bill for bad and it is a ticket to a no-win highway.

I understand Christians being under fire. I really do. I just don't think this is the answer. And on top of that, it is causing an economic issue with a state that is a long way from recovery. It isn't worth the backlash to have a half-ass bill trying to protect anyone if it isn't written well and you get national outcries and retaliation. Money talks. It doesn't mean money should win. They have to build stronger legislation to the average citizen says...yeah that makes sense. If it shocks the nation...hmmm not so good.

In my opinion, it's still in conflict. The federal law says x, y, z, but Indiana says "if you don't like to bake cake for gays and Muslims--it's OK because you disagree with a lifestyle and you hate Muslims because they are killing Christians." It is a good way for Indiana to look like the KKK all over again.

I think things need to be case by case just like Hobby Lobby. I agreed with their stance. They don't have to pay for birth control. It's not a medical necessity anyway and if someone needs it for acne or to regulate periods, they can buy it themselves. It's cheap. Yes, they used the Religious Freedom Act and successfully so...which I agreed with from the beginning.

I look for the loopholes and think like a deviant so I think worst case scenario. Would a court shut down someone abusing the law? Sure. But why get to that point by giving them the golden ticket. It's a no-no. "We have the right to refuse service to anyone" does not include the protected classes these days. It includes unruly or unsavory patrons. I would like to think we don't have to be neutral Americans and all that, but I also don't want civil unrest.

Ok. That was my two sense. We need to discuss it with coffee. LOL

Oh, yeah...better to have a functioning DINOSAUR of a vehicle, than a new one that gets recalled every other week...LOL.
Everything's back-to-rights and she's on her way down to Vincennes.

I think we don't disagree AS MUCH about the RFRA now...you never hear about a KOSHER deli being forced to sell PORK, right?
(that's sacrilege in The Big Apple...LOL)

I do believe that the wording needs to be tweaked and that (hopefully) people will NOT twist things around as they have been doing.

You think like I do...as a person on the "other" side of the fence...the loophole position.
I agree there.

I still see signs that say "NO shirt, NO shoes, NO service".
never hear about THOSE places being sued by anyone.

Joey Vento (founded Geno's Steaks in Philly) fought such things...and WON He wanted people to SPEAK ENGLISH when ordering.
(imagine that)

Your sense is always welcome up here...and there WILL be coffee.

:)

Thanks for stopping by to comment.

Stay safe down there, dear.

Well, the no shirt and no shoes applies to anyone and all regardless of color or lifestyle and is a health/hygiene issue. So that is neutral as the liberals say. Speaking English applies to all as well and no problem with that. You order something from me in a different language and I am going to have to guess what you want or make something up. Might not make you happy. LOL

What if a GAY person spoke in another language...or a MUSLIM?
BOTH cases could be ginned-upin this day and age.

(yeah, I:m just being a bit interrogational, in an OCD way.

Luv 'ya, Kiddo!
