Tuesday Tidbits...

Here we go again...and again...and again.

Welcome to another day JUST like yesterday...and the day before...and the day before THAT.
Yes, we are stuck in this weather-rut...humid, warm and rain-soaked.
To ME, this is becoming a bit TEDIOUS...and I know those that live near rivers or flood plains, it's a lot MORE so.
It's like you have to plan to do things between the deluges, frequent as they seem to be of late.
Whatever happened to APRIL showers?
This is JUNE, for God's sake!
The rest our Hoosierland weather will have us with highs once again into the mid-80s, with no real chance to dry out before we get more showers..
Next thing you know, we;ll be having a "monsoon season"...
(not to be confused with mongoose season).

While THESE calls seem a lot more spread out across town, there is NO mention about the person in OUR area that detonates those M-150s several times every night!

*** Next up, as predicted (by your humble host here) the police-action shooting is this city's THIRTEENTH homicide of the year.

Now, first off, he doesn't look like the type of person I would be chatting up on a regular basis, even if he WAS my neighbor, and that's not to say I;m anti-social. I just find him a bit on that "dubious" side. I might say "hi" and that's about it.
Given his proclivity of alcohol consumption and subsequent inability to maintain control of his anger issues, that would be the "clincher" for me to want to avoid him. You just know when someone's got a "hinky" demeanor.

Nice to note that our Public Safety Director is "earning"(?) his paycheck by stating that he was "probably intoxicated".
Well, when you're tossing chairs through windows, threatening to shoot people and refusing to drop a large-caliber revolver when police come calling...then YEAH, you're not in what we call a NORMAL mental state...are you?
Love to see the tox-report on this one and find out what his BAC was, or even if he had other substances in his system.
And, naturally, there is NOTHING TO SEE HERE...because the guy was WHITE.
(that was probably the FIRST question our police chief and York asked about the situation...lol)
*** Next on the blotter, and speaking of SHOOTINGS, it looks like homicide number FOURTEEN has presented itself.

Naturally, this appears to have caught all the meid :"off guard", especially since this FATAL shooting took place at The Villages At Hanna Townhouses..
If you don't recall THAT particular nomenclature...try EDEN GREEN APARTMENTS, for that is what this place (dump) USED to be called.

The name was changed - to protect the cretins living there.

The shooting took place in one of the "townhouse" (read apartment) buildings in the 1400 block of Greene St around 2020 hrs. A woman was found by police in a hallway, suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
And no one in the building heard or saw anything? (as usual).
No one came to the woman's aid until help arrived, it would appear...
Helluva way to die...alone in some filthy hallway in an apartment complex KNOWN for violent behavior, drugs, and the like.
*** Next, I'm sure you're still laughing over that woman who "claims" to be black, when you can clearly see she's just got frizzy hair. She does not look negroid in any way, sorry....

"Transraced"? - are you effin' KIDDING me?

Well, she's suing the University she attended, and has resigned from the Washington state NAACP...because she's WHITE.(imagine that)
Weird thing here...her PARENTS seem as white as white can be (without being ALBINO).

Sure LOOK white to me.

But THIS woman takes the cake..when hearing her on the news, you can plainly see she has some "issues", and would tend to need SOME form of counseling to get her races straight. I'd place her in that "hinky" category, as well. Something just a bit creepy about her, even if she means well.
I will say that if she wanted to "infiltrate" the NAACP in Spokane, she worked that room well enough.
Makes me wonder why we don't have a National Association For the Advancement of WHITE People.
(uh, because they can advance themselves without outside help or riotous behavior?)

*** Yesterday, although it seemed more like SE Asian weather than America's Midwest, I DID manage to mow the front lawn.
Give me one good hour of dry conditions and I can damn near work miracles (just not in the Biblical sense).
Now, all I have to do is catch a break long enough to do the back yard (again)...that fertilizer worked too damn well...lol

Wrinkles loves to get close for his treats...that's MY leg.

And, as could be expected, I had some "familiar faces" gracing our patio, to which I fed them copiously.

And Clover loves early morning visits...

Nice to have such "supervisory assistance" around our "Fortress", especially of the WOODLAND variety.
*** Next up, a "new, quasi-regular feature" I will call (set reverb to maximum and cue some heroic music)

ACTION FIGURE CORNER

I've been fortunate enough to "get the band back together" with the 3.75 inch Avengers figures, so I decided to graduate to some of the 6-inch figures.
So far I managed to get THREE...and at a substantial cost REDUCTION from what can be found in local store (or even many online locations).

Hulkbuster Iron Man - I added proper facial hair

But, they are not without imperfections of a sort. No, the faces don't have slanted or crossed eyes...they're just not painted on the BACK sides.

Had to paint belts and buckles on the flip side

Not a problem - I've been a model builder since little on up (thanks, Dad), and I have my stash of supplies to do the job.
With a little patience (and a magnifying glass for these old eyes) a better figure than I had an hour prior.

Mark LXII Iron Man armor - didn't need much work

Sure beats trying to paint those 1/72 scale figures, that's for sure. Talk about pain-staking..
And, while the figures are not AS articulated as others the same size, I can get THREE of them for less than the price of ONE at TRU.

*** Last back to the rain-forest (at least it seems like one)...do you find yourself missing the ability to PLAY as you get older?
I know I do, but then again,the manner in which we played was vastly different that what passes for playtime today.
--We had loads of those green army men, and there were times when several of us brought them all out and we had massive battles at someone's house or lawn.

Now THIS was playing.

And we never got arrested for being too loud...or ruining property..
The same goes for ALL those cool cap guns.

Choose your "weapon", Pilgrim

There wasn't a single boy in the neighborhood that did NOT have at last SEVERAL...for ANY period of history)...add them up and you could equip a small country these days...!

Stocked better than many African nations.

The girls had their dolls, easy'bake ovens and the boys had WAR TOYS...lots of 'em.

Well, THAT looks deadly to kids.

And this did not raise a generation of mass killers or wussy men...nor did the girls playing with dolls raise a generation of stay-at-home, Beaver Cleaver housewives. Many went on to own businesses, and some...whole companies.
The thing was, we are permitted to BE CHILDREN when we WERE children.
We knew we had to grow up sooner or later, as did our parents, but we were allowed to be boys and girls ehile we were young enough to enjoy it.
There were some things missing from today, however...
---We skinned our knees, got dirtier than a ditch-digger, caught poison ivy...all that and more.
And we SURVIVED...
---All those (by today's "standards") DANGEROUS toys...yep, we played with every damn one of them.
And we survived.
---We suffered cuts, bruises, bites, scratches, abrasions, and scrapes...and we STILL survived.

My GOD, is that a torture palace?

---We spent a lot more time OUTSIDE than inside...we ran around, fell down, and then got the hell back up and ran around some more.
---Then there were those PLAYGROUNDS...and we survived that.
So what has happened with the ability of children to play NOW?
Everything has to be SO protective...and "safe"...and damn near sterile.
It's little wonder we have more kids with more things wrong with them than we did in our past.
Not as many natural immunizes (if you ask me). for one thing.
And we force kids (today) to grow up SOONER...much sooner...very wrong.
Life will unfold for all of them in it's own good time...no need to rush things that don't need rushing, hmm?
Let kids be kids, and maybe they won't get into all that adult trouble we see today.
Just a thought...and one that is long overdue.
