Humpday Happenings...

Time to bid adieu to the month of August. Kinda weird to end a month in the middle of the week (to me).
But tomorrow, we get to take a look at a brand new month and all that comes with it.
Our Hoosierland weather for today will see us trying to dry out from yesterday's rather HEAVY rain (record-breaking, in fact). I know my hope of not having to mow the lawn just got shot to hell.
Temps will top out in the low 80s, with mostly cloudy skies and some chances of rain throughout the day (when did it become monsoon season?).
In any event, let's get ourselves a refreshing drink poured as we see what has been going on elsewhere.

I think too many people concentrate their efforts to success, power and popularity that they often miss the BIGGER picture - that of LIFE and being able to LIVE it.
Surely that is the basis  as to why we see so many unhappy individuals who have the power, success and fame.

Well, the victim was Latino (originally from Guatemala - been here "for many years" so the family says).
Nelson Antonio Lemus-Munoz, 24 was found shot in front of his house in the 2900 block of Stardale Drive. He died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Shell casings found by police indicate multiple calibers used in the shooting.
The suspect vehicle is (still) a four door white Chevrolet, but what MODEL remains a mystery. Some folks can;t tell the difference between an SUV and a car, I guess.

This took place around 0545 hrs yesterday morning in the 4300 block of S. Monroe St.
A man (not ID-ed yet) was found by police suffering stab wounds.
He was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.
Before he was transported, he told police he knew who stabbed him.
It was a female, so I'm thinking a domestic that got out of hand perhaps.
In our part of the ghettohood, it's a common occurrence, trust me.

Now while these two areas of the city are not THAT closely related, they are in fact.
They are BOTH suffering the type of crime that leads to BIGGER crimes.
This time around, it's car windows shot out by BB guns.
(some leftard will want to ban THOSE next)
The vehicle vandalism (as I stated here Tuesday in the FWPD blotter reports) is something that has been ON THE RISE, and with good reason - the criminals need "more room" (they already damn near totally trashed the SE side), so they're branching out.

You need INSURANCE to cover this crap.

Best way to do that is target a "new" neighborhood...get the residents wanting to MOVE AWAY, so they can move the hell in. It's so simple to figure out, and follows a pattern that happens in many areas...like our neighborhood, around 15-20 years ago. I saw the change come, and this is the manner in which it occurs.
The recent vandalism occurred along the 3900 block of Buell Drive, (address from WPTA source)and is a nice neighborhood..like OURS used to be. The vandalism spanned from W. Rudisill to Lexington.
Hopefully, images caught on home surveillance cameras will yield some suspects.
One neighbor shared video with WANE, and said only two cars came down the street between midnight and 0400 hrs. (I'd give money to have THAT kind of traffic along OUR streets again).
Police are looking for a dark colored Hyundai sedan with LED fog lamps (obviously a newer model). That vehicle may be involved, and as many as five males were in that vehicle.

(and to think there's a dark colored Hyundai nearby that disappears to all hours...hmm, how curious. And I have the plate number, too...bwahahahahaha).
*** Next up, we always have some kinda crap going on in our neck o' the woods.

I was at full zoom on the camera.

This past weekend (early Saturday), the FWFD and TRAA arrived at 4705 S. Monroe and brought a male outside on a gurney. They proceeded to work on resuscitation for a good ten minutes and then finally transported him away (lights and sirens). No mention of that in the news, but the guy looked young, so I'm wondering if it had to do with drugs and possible overdose? Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

And then we have the mom tossing a football with her kid...in the MIDDLE OF THE DAMN STREET!

Traffic along both streets here is on the increase, and with it, comes more SPEEDERS and people not even slowing down at YIELD or STOP signs (again, the FWPD doesn't seem to catch any of them). At least the kid WAS "supervised" (for once).

Here we go again. Another tribe moving in.

And these, along with newbies moving in down the street serve to provide an aside from the daily thump of the boomcars and sirens. But, it's not sensational enough to make the news, right?
*** Next, it's time for another chapter of "The Hobo Chronicles"...

Well, the day started OUT well enough...and pretty typical.
There was one squirrel (looked to be Squirt or maybe Tweak) who was mouthing off from a nearby tree.

Then he got onto the roof and tried to get closer to the patio. He stayed on the roof.

I did notice the sunflower seeds and peanuts I put on our FRONT step were gone, so some squirrel got a case of "the smarts". Maybe it was a titmouse or nuthatch.
Either way, others get fed too.

But I knew the rain would be moving in later, and brother did it ever.
Our little buddy got good and soaked (but not that bad where he looked like he stepped out of a body of water).
We had a break in the weather, and took to feeding on the patio table. Hobo came out from behind that tall grass along the house and ate.
I suppose we're in for another round of such today.
No problem, we can handle it. I just feel bad to see his wet and staring from the patio steps. Our old cat doesn't know how good he's got it. Maybe he does.
*** Last back to the rain gutters...it's sad to see a good neighborhood go downhill.

Houses like this become a common sight.

I know from experience - Wifey and I have "lived the adventure" and continue to do so.
But, I did say that crime was going to move out of the SE quadrant, and by God, you hate being right when it comes to stuff like this. Nevertheless, the truth will always wind up staring you in the face.

'Cause it sure as hell don't love YOU.

And the truth is, we have a growing problem in this city, that is not being addressed in the manner that it should have been over the last 15+ years.
The sad part is that (with a new FWPD chief), there is a LOT of "catching up" to be done, and it can't happen overnight.
It will take time to undo what has been allowed to occur.
Like I said yesterday, running from the problem (like moving away) does no good, because soon enough, you will find there are fewer and fewer place to run TO. Then, what do you do, hmm?
When people refuse to be intimidated, refuse to bug out, and take a stand, fight back, and decide that THEIR life, liberty and property is every bit AS important and meaningful and the nest person's, then we'll see neighborhoods thrive.

How the liberals have CHANGED things...

Funny, that's how they USED to maintain themselves in times past.
And we always seem to return to such times, and not out of nostalgia.
Much can be learned from days like those, if we take the time to educate ourselves.
