Tuesday Tidbits...
If you thought yesterday's weather was nice...(what is wrong with you?)...then you might like today as well.
We're looking at a close copy here, but I heard the UV index will be around 9 (guess that's not cause for celebration, especially for the fair-skinned among us).
Our Hoosierland weather for today will have us with mostly fair skies, plenty of sun, and temps topping out around the 90-degree range. And yes, humidity continues to follow us like a "community cat"...lol.
So what say we get ourselves a nice refreshing drink, and see what has been going on elsewhere?
*** First out of the litterpan is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
AUGUST 2 -
---Today is NATIONAL COLORING BOOK DAY
(always looks better to stay INSIDE the lines)
---It's NATIONAL ICE CREAM SANDWICH DAY
(Watch out for brain-freeze if eating them quickly outdoors)
---And, it's NATIONAL NIGHT OUT DAY
(created to increase awareness about police programs in communities)
*** Next up, and because it's a Tuesday, it's time to bring you all the shots fired and armed robbery calls (which include shootings) in our fair city, so we can PROVE to you, the people how much we're not being told by City Hall and the media when it comes to rising CRIME.

==========================
*** Next up, there was a ANOTHER shooting last night. Here's the story link:
http://wane.com/2016/08/01/victim-seriously-hurt-in-shooting/
This took place in the 600 block of Anderson Ave. (near Spy Run and E, 4th St) last night around 22.45 hrs.
A person walked up to the house and began shooting, injuring someone inside.
"I think the house will make a full recovery, Sarge."
Officers were talking to neighbors who witnessed the incident.
Police did not share any other information at the scene.
(hope we're going to drop this "blue-curtain" of silence now that we have a new FWPD chief).
*** Next up, Indiana made the top of another list.
Here's that story:
http://www.indystar.com/story/news/2016/07/27/indiana-continues-lead-us-pharmacy-robberies/87596430/
Imagine that...our state leads the nation on PHARMACY ROBBERIES.
Who'da thunk THAT?
But wait, we've been working at it for a spell...
http://www.indystar.com/story/news/2015/09/11/indiana-lead-nation-pharmacy-robberies/72091168/
This story is from almost a YEAR ago...so, our ranking should come as NO surprise to anyone, right?
Hell, you don;t even NEED a gun or other weapon...just pass a note or tell the pharmacist your intent and PRESTO...free prescrips!
And don't forget to smile for the security cameras.
*** Next up, more proof positive that our part of the ghettohood is anything but dull.
Yesterday afternoon, I saw one of the (four) black kids from  the house across our side street (driveway basketball hoop - chases ball onto our property and across the street, causing cars to stop) being chased up the street by two brown pit bulls. A car was coming and stopped  in the middle of the street, as the boy ran around the car, dogs close behind. The people down our block have had this happen before - the dogs getting out and running loose.
Used to have a nice neighbor at that house before they moved. Now, we get more of the government-sponsored crowd with the typical behaviors. Might have to call Animal Care and Control over this.
Oh, the male at that house carried one dog back, as the female had the other one by the collar until the male came back to get that one. The female went to the house where the boy ran to (no doubt to avoid a potential lawsuit or retaliation). Bunch of idiots...ALL of them.
Then again, it makes me wonder what that boy was up to...he and his siblings love to be someplace they're NOT supposed to be (like the house across from us).
That stopped when people came by to mow the lawn there. These kids have NO sense of boundaries...at all, and are never supervised.
We need more short leashes - for the dogs AND for the kids.
*** Next, I came across this article that caught my automotive interest.
http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/news/g6764/most-controversial-cars/
Really wasn't a bad car - Pop-pop had one.
And, if you remember the Corvair and the Pinto, then that's two down and eight to go.
But these cars might not seem as BAD as they were portrayed, while some were worse than we were led to believe.
And this was long before the Takata air-bag debacle or the VW emissions fudging.
In any case, it's nice to know that car makers haven't seen to change their stripes ALL that much over the decades.
*** Next, I mentioned yesterday about the action figures I grabbed on eBay, and I was doing some number crunching. The results were, shall we say..."enlightening".
The RETAIL prices for the 4 figures comes to about $300, and that's based on several online toy stores that specialize in figures not readily available in the states.
To quote Tony Start (IM2 ): "I think I did okay..."
The total amount I paid came out to $53.48 - like I said...that's pretty substantial savings (even if they might be knock-offs). To me, a bargain IS a bargain.
*** Next up, I was out clipping some shrubs and grass yesterday when the unthinkable happened - the shears BROKE...!
The handle snapped right the hell off...completely. I was lucky the sharp edge didn't cut my hand, but there you go...no more clippers.
So, that meant a trip out to Menards for a replacement pair.
And, for $9, we got a pair made by a company called Bond (James Bond?)...and they have 5 positions for cutting.
Funny thing, the same pair at Wal-Mart was $14.86 (sorry, Laurie), and the B&D version was more than that.
They work great, and after a touch of WD-40 (to loosen things up), they're a lot smoother.
*** Next, more on what I will be calling "The Hobo Chroinicles"...
"I lay claim to this house and the people therein."
This little guy is here practically 24/7 now, and doesn't meow near as much as at first.
All I need do is place some food in a dish and that's about it.
When you go out, he's right there...craving attention. Amazing how anyone would turn this cat out and abandon him. Doesn't seem to have a feral bone in his body, but he does like "bird-watching"...lol.
And, somehow, I don't think we'll have any problems with field mice in the foreseeable future.
*** Last back to the water bowl...the more people I come in contact with, the more I like our critters.
That's not to say I've written off the human race...not yet, anyway.
Let's just way I've become very "selective" with whom I wish to share my life and times with.
Considering there are too many out there willing to take your life for no good reason at any given time, being a might on the isolationist side doesn't seem to hurt.
When you stop to think about all the problems we have in the world, and how most all of them are brought about by PEOPLE, what I feel makes sense (to me, anyway).
Yet, I still believe in mankind...that perhaps it will manage to unleash the positive potential within, and seek to work together, rather than create division and strife.
Perhaps this belief is a dream, but it's a damn good one to hang onto.
We can always do better, and we certainly can always BECOME better.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Haha. I love the attitude of your cat. Yoda on the other hand...too many shots fired he did. What is up with that? I still think it is left over fireworks. LOL. And the heat keeps coming. Maybe need an ice cream sammich? Have a great day, Bob!

Yeah, the cat has laid claim to the "Fortress" and it's inhabitants!
He's so damn friendly (wish to hell the neighbors were).
So, he gets free food and rightly deserved.

He really doesn't have any "attytood" to speak of...just a LOT of spunk!
(he can outrun me like there's no tomorrow, too)

I agree, too many shots fired (especially at HOUSES) - like they can fire back...lol.
Crazy peeps around this burg.

More heat, and no ice cream sammies.
My "PLAN B" - root beer and vanilla ice cream...TADAAAAA!!!
ROOT BEER FLOAAT (and plenty of them)!

Thanks for rolling up today and commenting.

You stay safe and keep cool down there, Kiddo.

Hah! When Laurie gets up from her nap, I'm gonna tell her about the shears. Maybe we can spread the word and cause a price match catastrophe (Bwa ha ha...)

I think we've all become more isolationist of late, and I kinda wonder whether it's the chicken or the egg. Of course, to play with the analogy, that egg's hatched and now we have nothing but chickens.

---LOL...only two words - PRICE WARS!!!
(...Not so long ago, in a lawncare aisle not that far away...)

---THAT is a very good analogy.
I'm only isolationistic (think that's a descriptive form of the word) out of NECESSITY, more than anything else...BUT, I am very cordial to anyone that can show me the "time of day", and is willing to meet me half-way when it comes to being a human (foibles and all).

I think that's as honest as I can call it.
(and you folks have met us, so you already know)

I just think it's pretty damn hard to cajole (let along argue) with idiots these days.
I only have time for REAL people (and that don't mean "real stupid"...LOL).
But, you know where I'm comin' from.

Hey, thanks for dropping on by today to comment.
(been hoping your job situation sorts itself out, too).

You stay safe and keep cool up there, brother.
