Tuesday Tidbits...
Get ready for the heat, which will remain with us until week's end.
Looks like the next several days will see us with a bit of that "tropical" feeling, only there will no umbrella drinks at beach-side or people playing in the surf (at least not where we live).
Our Hoosierland weather will see us with partly cloudy skies, temps reaching just over the 90-degree mark and increasing humidity. All the things that make staying inside that much more desirable.
So, what say we refill the ice cube trays, and get a nice cool refreshing drink. We will certainly need it today, as we see what's going on elsewhere...
*** First out of the steambath is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
AUGUST 9 -
---Today is NATIONAL RICE PUDDING DAY.
(I knew there was something I forgot at the store Saturday...this week for sure)
---It's also NATIONAL VEEP DAY
(This deals with the succession plan designed into our Constitutional laws - it's not Joe Biden's b'day)
---And, it's NATIONAL BOOK LOVERS DAY
(stay inside and read a book - sounds like a real plan and libraries ARE air-conditioned)
*** Next up, and since it's Tuesday, lets take a look at all the shots fired and armed robbery calls that went out last week, because the media won't tell us a thing about those:

Cripes, don't these idiots EVER give up?
*** Next up, looks like technology caught a left hook yesterday as hundreds of DELTA flights had to be cancelled.
Park 'em if 'ya got 'em.
Here's the story link:
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-delta-air-outages-idUSKCN10J0VP
Try a couple of THESE.
Imagine that...a power outage caused all this crap to go down...
Guess the phrase "back up power" never occurred to these folks?
Works well for hospitals, doesn't it?
With an operation of THIS size and the amount of information being moved about , why are there no contingency plans for such an event? Bet there will be NOW (after the fact...as usual).
*** Next, The local NAACP has something to say...to our prosecutor.
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/NAACP--demands-answers--from-prosecutor-14572873
Excuse me..."demands answers"?
Obviously, this has to deal with the lack of case-solving for the homicides we have seen in our fair city.
Well, if it even MAKES it to the prosecutor's office, I might understand the reasoning.
But, I have a feeling that the lack  (or unwillingness) of witnesses coming forward to assist law-enforcement solve the cases and make arrests is the major player in this culpability production.
I'm not sticking up for Karen Richards (aka the Blonde Phantom) in ANY way, either.
Maybe a better use of the NAACP would be to DEMAND ANSWERS from it's OWN PEOPLE???
They see plenty...and say nothing. That's the trouble.
WHY aren't people coming forward? WHY are they protecting the killers?
Loads of answers to be found THERE...and we're not even talking about the crumbling of the black traditional family, are we? Look in the mirror instead of pointing those damn fingers and assessing blame, people.
*** Next up, and in a related story, there's this:
http://wane.com/2016/08/08/mother-of-slain-teen-meets-with-new-community-relations-director/
Granted her son was killed right near his house, but what was a 14 year old doing outside after 1 AM? Where WAS mom?
Home surveillance video captured the scene moments before her son was shot and killed.
Add caption
(guess you NEED cameras along Lillie Street THESE days, right?)
Mom met with former FWPD chief Hamilton and came away feeling more confident her son's case will not go cold. But, given the recent history of the number of (homicide) cases solved per year in Fort Wayne, the odds are against it being solved, unless there are people who DO come forward and speak out, or the police catch a (lucky) break.
*** Next, it's time to choose (yet) ANOTHER license plate in Indiana.
Current standard tag
(and WE get to vote...oh, joy)
Here's a column from Frank Gray that covers the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/frank-gray/License-plate-choice-seems-pretty-clear-14560814
Now, his choice and mine are not the same.
New plate - exhibit A
He likes that covered bridge one, while I like the more traditional PLAIN tag with the yellow ribbon at the bottom with the words "Crossroads of America" on it.
New plate - exhibit B
Seems the tag with "The Hoosier State" on it is the also-ran here.
New plate - exhibit C
Still, a tag is a tag, right?
Well, considering We've gotten MORE tags HERE than all the others for me (from two other states COMBINED), I wonder why we have to change them at all?
I LIKE the tags we have. Don't want to have to hang another set on the basement wall...lol.
*** Next, Kevin Leininger also got to sit down with new FWPD chief Steve Reed oin The Fort Report this past Saturday.
And here's the video of the telecast:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local/Fort-Report--Steve-Reed
I watched it, and found it as good as WANE's series. Then again, I'm kinda partial to law-enforcement.
If you've got 25 minutes, give it a look.
*** Next up, Piere's nightclub is going through some ch,ch,ch, changes...
Here's the story link:
http://wane.com/2016/08/08/pieres-under-new-ownership-extensive-remodel-to-come/
New owners...a new look, and hopefully a better way to conduct itself in the neighborhood, which means LESS shooting in the damn parking lot.
We shall wee, won't we?
*** Next, another chapter of "The Hobo Chronicles"...
When last we left our feline friend, he was listless as all get out...slept around all day.
Yesterday, the sun came back out for us.
He was coming out of his "spot" alongside the house (patio side) and ate some food.
He even got on Wifey's lap, and started rubbing against our leg again.
Today,  I couldn't find him at all. (WTH?).
Definitely a lot more "alert" and perky.
Then, a bit later, he came RUNNING around from the back door to greet me, and he even followed me over to the neighbor's house (I'm tending to her flowers and plants).
He had a nice little walk, and seems to be bouncing back from whatever was bugging him.
Let's hope it stays that way...you folks know how I detest "change"...lol.
*** Last back to the garden...there was this joke about an elevator operator (this dates itself nicely), who, when asked about how he enjoyed his job, and he answered:
"It's not the ups and downs that bother me...it's the JERKS!"
And so it is with many of us in our lives.
I always attempt to be as "jerkless" as possible. Let someone other than myself deal with those people.
I, along with many of you, have other, more important things in life to worry about, and be challenged by, right?
Thing is, we don't always get what WE want, and along those lines, we have to be flexible and able to adapt to a given situation.
If we take some time to reason that out, it makes whatever comes our way much easier to accept and deal with.
Again, it takes work on OUR part to achieve that, and some people are choosing the easy way out...woe to them.
When you change your priorities, you WILL change your life, as long as the right choice is made to do so.
Be well, make a difference to someone,and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I'm guessing the "no backups" thing at Delta is one of those "squeeze the margin" shortcuts the airlines are so fond of, much like the "removable" front gear that Southwest had the other day.

NAACP needs to tell its constituents to COOPERATE with the FWPD if it wants charges filed. Even the Blonde Phantom can't do plea bargains ex nihilo. (Can you tell I wrote THAT before I read your summation? Great minds etc etc.

"Mom met with former FWPD chief Hamilton and came away feeling more confident her son's case will not go cold." And as she left the room, Hamilton gave his best Bugs Bunny impression :"She don't know me very well, DO she?"

Thanks for putting the plates up. I knew Laurie told me something I needed to check into the other day! IMHO, on the road you won't be able to tell that covered bridge from a turd.

I think Pierre's day is done in either event. They were already to a point where some FB commenters said they were down to about 25 people or so showing up, and all those cancelled concerts did good will no favors.

I saw Gad's comment yesterday... I had a long haired cat that acted like that until I "trimmed" her, so he may be spot on.

Elevator joke: "Hey! I resemble that remark!"

Yeah, the airlines can jack UP the prices out the wazoo, BUT...when it comes to more "basic" things (like keeping the POWER on), they have NO effin clue, do they?
---Nothing at all wrong with thinking ALIKE (great minds indeed). And the NAACP should know as much (but they were founded by white democrats).
---LOL...I wouldn't equate Bugs to Garry, but you did manage it well.
---You know...now that you MENTION it....there IS a resemblance (from across the computer room)...LMAO!
---Gonna take "SOME kinda wonderful" to make Piere's anywhere close to viable (as long as they curb the "rap" events).
---I will defer to Gadfly as well. Good to see him alive and kicking. Hope he drops by often. I miss his blog.
---I think we ALL resemble that remark at SOME point in our lives...lol.

(Give us an update on KC when time allows.)

Thanks for dropping by today and commenting.
Stay safe & keep cool up there, brother.
