Tuesday Tidbits...

Welcome to yesterday. I say this because the weather out there today will feel much like it did the previous day.
It will be a bit warm, but by the weekend, it will start to cool back down.
The fall season is supposed to arrive this week, too. Good, enough with the summer and all the uncomfortable stuff that comes along with it.
Our Hoosierland weather for today will see us with mostly sunny skies, a high of around the mid-80s (again), and no rain forecast (at least none that will wash all the scum off our streets).
So what say we get ourselves a nice drink to quench our thirst as we see what's been going on elsewhere, hmm?

How about that...this guy was originally from Afghanistan. And the mayor of NYC, comrade DoBlasio had to pull a "180", and now says this WAS an act of terror. Really? What the hell clued you IN, you idiot?
Two NYPD officers were shot by the suspect, but are expected to make full recoveries. The suspect was also shot (and expected to live...damn).
Police there managed to ID Ahmad Khan Rahami through fingerprints on an unexploded device they found.
Now, how's about a public hanging if convicted? Just saying.

Yes, in Allen County (Indiana, of course), the wheel tax, enacted back in 2009, which was set to expire in 2017, has NOW been EXTENDED out to 2029...!
(and who wants to bet it will be extended further in about 13 years?)
Like I said...this crap never goes away, thanks to politicians with no concept on how to PROPERLY spend our money.
Thank God WE have a better grasp on what's left over with our money, otherwise, we'd ALL be screwed a lot more, and by our own hand. Bad enough we get help along those lines from various governmental agencies.

Interesting to not that of the over 270+ million guns owned in the USA, nearly HALF of them are owned by only about 3% of the population.

No other information was available.
(said it was a "break-in"? - with no forcible entry - bet it's a "domestic"...assault knife ban...anyone?)

This took place yesterday around 1300 hrs at the branch up on Lima Rd.
Wow, he's a WHITE guy...and some damn fine video camera photos.
Should be easy to ID.

Allen County Public Library

Well, there's a new trend sweeping the country - that being another place to DO YOUR DRUGS.

Obviously, these are drugs that require one to shoot up...no smoking inside, remember?
One of the last bastions of solace, taken over by drug users...what a state of decay.
At least our ACPL is being proactive in sweeping the stacks, patrolling the grounds outside and video surveillance.
*** Next, another chapter in "The Hobo Chronicles" (or how I learned to  become adopted by a community cat)...
Yesterday was another one of those "I'll be gone for a couple hours, so don't worry" days.

Naturally, you have to begin the day with a good breakfast.

And, you always have to act cute for those feeding you.

I have a friend who lives up around Harlan, and he's got a few barn cats.
This little guy would fit right in there, but since we don't have a barn, we do the next best thing.
We also never scrimp on the affection (or food).
*** Last back to the water dish...where do we go for those moments of solace?

For some, it's a never-ending search, while for others, it's something that becomes second nature.
We can often lose ourselves in a good book, or perhaps listening to some good music.
I used to always enjoy going to Pennypack Park in Philly and spending an afternoon hiking or bike riding through the wooded areas. It was a great way to get away from the hum-drum routine of the working week.
Usually, we all like to go to a place that has that calming effect on not just our bodies, but our souls...our spirits if you will.
There is a Bible passage that merges perfectly with our quest for that solace:

I view such times as a way to commune with our creator, and especially in today's world, getting closer to God is never a bad thing, not that it ever is in better times, right?
Perhaps that's why the whole drug-use in libraries bothers me so much. That used to be a place where entire universes could be found, neatly bound within the covers of all those books within the stacks.
I had a job that required that I visit libraries and borrow books for securing copyrights and to reprint to medical books, publications and such, so I became fast acquainted with the quiet (and the Dewey Decimal System) that can be found within those walls.
Now, those buildings have become a place to leave discarded needles, other drug paraphernalia, and a haven for the disillusioned and disenfranchised. We need to stop such assaults on such places, because they are centers of knowledge and wisdom...and yes, solace to those of us who have spent time there.

To those who feel the need to shoot up heroin in a library, I would take a page from a Doctor Who episode (Silence In The Library) and advise any and all drug users to "PLEASE...stay IN the shadows". You Whovians out there know precisely what I mean by that.
And to everyone else, better to keep such vermin out of the light.
