Tuesday Tidbits...
It's Valentine's Day...when everyone loves someone...supposedly.
Yes indeed...plenty of hearts to go around, along with all that chocolate.
At least, the forecast will seem to behave itself over the next 24 hours.
Speaking of which, our Hoosierland weather for today finds us with partly cloudy skies, temps reaching into the low to mid-40s, breezy conditions, and no sign of precipitation on the immediate horizon.
So that means we can enjoy the day as we start it off with a nice refreshing beverage of choice, and see what else is going on elsewhere, right? Let's get cracking, then...
*** First out of the heart-shaped chocolate box is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
FEBRUARY 14 -
---It's Valentine's Day
(if 'ya can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with...sounds like a song there)
---It's National Ferris Wheel Day
(can't say I'm seeing many people doing THAT, in spite of the nice weather)
---It's National Organ Donor Day
(we're not talking HAMMOND or WURLITZER here, either)
---It's National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day
(hell, today is ANY kind of chocolate day, right?)
*** Next up, let's take a look at all the important police calls that took place last week (because the media was too focused on the Grammys to give a rip), shall we?

*** Next up, time for some of our local STUPID.
There was an attempted robbery yesterday. Here's the story:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/34492299/fort-wayne-police-looking-for-attempted-robbery-suspect
This took place at the Public Service Credit Union located along Old Trail Rd in Waynedale around 1230 hrs yesterday
Man goes in, hands teller a note, teller says they have to get money at another drawer, and the man leaves.
The suspect is described as a black man in his late 40's. He was 6' tall and weighed around 180 lbs. He was wearing glasses, a orange hooded sweatshirt and dark greens at the time of the attempted robbery. He is still at-large
Well, isn't THAT a big surprise? Must be from Winchester Woods Apartments.
---And another Walgreens robbery nets the perp. Here's this story:
http://wane.com/2017/02/13/pharmacy-robbery-suspect-arrested-after-chase/
This took place at the Walgreens at 330 W. State Blvd., at the intersection with Wells Street around 1225 hrs yesterday.
Police were called there following a robbery of drugs from the pharmacy
A store employee had followed the perp out and then gave police a description of the getaway car and direction of travel.
Police located the car which sped off. They eventually were able to make a felony stop of the vehicle in the 1200 block of Fairfield Avenue (not far from Parkview Field)
---Police pulled a dead body from the St. Joe River. Here's the story:
http://wane.com/2017/02/13/possible-drowning-investigation-underway-after-body-pulled-from-river/
They say the man drowned...be weird if the victim is connected with the shooting death of that teen from last week.
It was near Canterbuy Green Apts, after all. But, we shall see...
*** Next, yes...today we get us a new washer. Got the confirmation call yesterday, and that means I have to un-clutter the laundry room (also called the back room) to make way for the old unit to be hauled out, and the new one installed.
Hey, as long as the hookup goes well, there won't be a problem.
The real challenge will be to put the cats in the bathroom for the duration and hope all goes well there.
It's either that, or I put them UPSTAIRS someplace, so they don't get loose or under foot with the installation guys.
*** And speaking of felines, let's see what's going on at "Kitten Corner"...
The twosome were spending time being affectionate, when not trying to cover 26 miles by running back and forth through the house. Talk about your marathons.
Have to be careful with those claws, though. At their young age, those meat hooks are like PINS, and you can feel them through thick pants...trust me on this one.
The one thing you DON'T want is to have thin clothing or bare skin showing when the claws are out. They're still young enough to not know WHEN to retract them (like when they're at play), but that will change over time.
A small price to pay when they're both so damn cute.
*** Last back to the heart-shaped tub...there WAS a time when I felt a lot more "romantic".
Yeah, amazing the crazy things you pursue when you're younger, isn't it?
But, that was also a time when things in general were a lot less filled with the angst that seems to permeate almost every facet of our society today (and the world, for that matter).
There was a lot LESS politicizing of everything, we didn't rail against everything and anything or everyone and anyone (without purpose and reason), and we certainly didn't prey upon one another to the degree that we seem to do these days.
A more "innocent" time? Perhaps.
Definitely a better time, generally-speaking.
It was a time when you COULD act chivalrous with the ladies, be a gentleman, open doors for women, without fearing a verbal reprisal for being sexist in some manner. I miss those days.
Being a man should mean as much as being a woman...no ambiguity attached to gender roles, no "smudging the lines", as it were, and being able to openly practice the values you were brought up with.
So, forgive me if I don't observe Valentine's Day in the manner that I once did. It doesn't mean I love anything or anyone any less...it just means that the world has changed enough so that such things don't carry the classic romanticism as much as they once did.
And, if there is a crime to be assigned here, it would be to that change.
Society allowed it to happen, and it is allowing it to continue.
Funny thing...only society can change things back to the way they should be, and not as they currently are.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Great post there, Bob! Happy VD To you and the Missus. Enjoy this fair day. Trump's hitting the news again full throttle. I'm glad Flynn is gone. Was not a fan. Now to get rid of Bannon and Devos and I will be good.

---Happy VD??
((yikes))...Oh, wait, I know what you mean NOW...ROFLMAO!
---To be honest, I think ANYONE Trump tries to get appointed will be under the gun with the libtards.
They want to undermine his administration any way they can (they're scared shitless as it is), and do NOT be surprised if a certain former president is behind some of this...(just sayin')

You have yourself a VERY Happy Valentine's Day.
Some wine, a bubble bath, chocolate. That could work.
(I know how you think...lol)

Thanks for rolling up to comment today.
Stay safe down there, dear.

You ever get pissed at yerself when you have have a comment typed, hit the wrong button, and away it goes? Yep, that just happened.

First I said, yep the robbery perps weren't exactly "professional men," were they?

Then I said, "I saw the report of the shots up at 2000s of RRT, but as that is up by the road, we heard nothing."

Then I was going to muse whether the shots heard at 2000 RRT might not be those that put the drowner across the river in the drink, but when I went to research it, I failed to open a new window, and what happened here at last matched the occurances of the rest of the day.

Just don't put the cats in the old washer, lol!

When we had a lot of cats, my hands were one big scratch from wrestling with 'em. Just keep 'em sheathed if yer in my face, and it's all good.

I'm with you on the Valentine's take... that, and I just don't have the ENERGY anymore.

Chris:
---Had that happen a couple times...used some CHOICE words (as an accompaniment), too...heh.
---Nah, they must be breaking in the newbie SUMMER crop of stupid early.
---Ahh, to be lucky to have enough CURVES, BUILDINGS, and TREES that often block such noises.
---That "drowning" seems a bit odd to me, too. Gotta be something else to that. Coulda been a robbery that went bad, too.
---Having thought of that, I dismissed it, as when an old unit is removed, the old HOSES go inside the tub...scratch that
---LOL, when they walk on Wifey, she doesn't wear those "industrial-strength" military camo BDUs like I do, and I hear her saying "Oww...oww...OWW" from the family room. Can't help but snicker.
---Glad I'm not the only person that thinks along similar lines about Valentine's Day...we're not curmudgeons, just practical, right?
And, most days, I still got me some get up and go that hasn't gotten up and left YET...HA!

Thanks for dropping by to comment.

Stay safe (and romantic when you HAVE to be) up there, brother.
